It's enough if you don't need 20 tabs stored in memory
Reliably storing 4 and up would have helped as well.

However, we're paying top dollar for these phones, there is no reason they shouldn't have gone with more way before this year.

What was Apple's offering to those who needed more, since they like options and up selling so much?
Oh right, just buy a whole new phone, years later down the road. Sorry if you need more in the meantime.

Excuse me, but this has been ridiculous of them to not include more RAM until now.

They'll ride 2GB of RAM when 4GB becomes a necessity some day as well, can't wait for that.
RAM and storage is something where Apple is slow to make significant improvements.

All of this wouldn't be a problem if the iPhone was a mid-tier smartphone, but since it's the only one and a flagship, 2GB should have been in there at least since iPhone 6, probably 5s really though.

Oh please, stop pulling numbers out of your ass.
My 5 can even keep 3 tabs open without refreshing.
I have an iPhone 5 as well and 3 is the golden number. The forth tab kills the first one.
ALWAYS.
And SOMETIMES even 3 is too much, depending on the loaded pages.
So it can keep 3, but not reliably.

The video proves nothing, technically. The author claims it's the extra RAM without any proof.
You're right, could just as well be the faster CPU.... Come on. Of course there isn't any technical "proof", but what you're seeing here doesn't need that.
Safari's cache doesn't get purged as quickly and pages stay in memory.
What else do you need. If it was a software tweak, Apple would have applied it to the 1GB devices long ago, as Safari has been one of the most obvious ways to point out iPhone and iPad's shortcomings for a while.

Mine CAN keep 3 tabs open without refreshing.
On my iPhone 6 / iPad 3 I can have a tab reloading problem.
When I comment on the web, I often switch to other tabs to get quotes / links on other websites.
Sometimes iOS Safari can handle that without reloading the comment tab. But other times the comment tab reloads and I've lost what I've written.
This has led me to first put my longer comments (with quotes/links) in Pages first and then paste that into Safari (or Dolphin which is a bit more stable).

Well what do you know: turns out people who said the iPhone doesn't need 2 GB of RAM were wrong.

Also, nice massive ad on The Verge there, Nilay. Hello ad-block karma. Don't say you didn't bring this on yourselves :)

I think the verge might be the worst site on the internet for ads. I'm beyond not caring about their revenue streams, it's almost a point of pride to make sure every single ad on there is blocked.

Are you really? Why? Its utterly pointless. Maybe when I can have actual wireless charging so that my phone chargers whilst i'm walking around my house, that would be cool - or at the very least it charges whenever I lay it down on any surface. But having to put it on a pad which slow chargers the phone is really really useless.
Agreed. The reason why Apple hasn't introduced wireless charging is because they dont think the technology is good enough. Apple only introduce new technology which for the most part is groundbreaking. They are not in the habit of copying other manufacturers to any great extent. If they can perfect true wireless charging without resting it on a pad then they will release it.

Anyone else not seeing that big of a difference?

I just upgraded from the 5s to the 6s. I am a little underwhelmed. Granted, I have only had it since Friday, but when I first started using the phone it hung a couple of times transitioning a few times from the lock screen.

I do really like 3D touch though.

I wish Apple would keep 1GB which is more than enough and make the phone thinner instead. I thought Apple didn't care about numbers!

Lack of RAM is my single biggest annoyance with my iPhone 6+. I get pages reloading with just 2-3 tabs open. I've even had a single tab open, switched to another app to reference something, and then switch back to safari to see that tab reload. It's incredibly frustrating at times, especially when the tab that reloads has text fields that I was in the middle of filling in.

If they have the same version of iOS and Safari, the RAM is the only thing that changes between the two phones that would have this type of effect. The processor, TouchID, Camera etc have no effect on how previous pages in Safari are cached. It has to be the RAM.

Perhaps on the regular 6 it was fine. But on the 6 plus it was needed. There are times where I only have 1 tab open and the page will randomly refresh. Forget switching back between two different tabs. Especially when I'm typing in a comment box or filling in forms. Because soon as I switch to another tab and then back it disappears because the page decided to reload.

And safari loves to crash on the 6 plus as well.

Ram does matter. Pages use to constantly refresh on the iPad Air as well. But when the iPad Air 2 came out with 2gb ram, tabs don't refresh anymore in safari like they use to.

It's not like I haven't been saying this for the longest time or anything, haha! However, the main area where I started running into problems more is when I first used a 64-bit chip, which uses 20-30% more RAM for the exact same tasks. My iPhone 5 wasn't horrible with the tab reloading. But my 64-bit 6 Plus and my 64-bit iPad Mini 2 before that both had problems with 1GB of RAM and the larger screen size. When I got the Air 2 with 2GB the difference was like night and day and I couldn't wait until the same thing happened to the iPhone.

Luckily for those on the 6 and 6 Plus, I did some testing and there seems to be some memory improvements in iOS 9. These improvements are even more apparent if you use a content blocker. Not having dozens of ads loaded into memory really helps the phone out performance-wise. I highly recommend it.

So far it's taking me a little bit of time to adjust to this phone—but for only good reasons. I don't have to hesitate when I quickly switch to another tab or app that any data I've put into the browser will be lost. I don't have to automatically copy what I've written just in case it disappears and I need to paste it back. I don't have to worry about saving my tweet is a draft before switching over to something else to check a reference or whatever. I don't have to worry about rotating my phone to landscape to watch a video and have the "desktop class scaler" on the 6 Plus make the video scale all weird and crash me back to the springboard. I don't have to worry about my camera app locking up when I go to quickly snap a photo of my kid when she does something cute.

For the first time ever on an iPhone, I feel completely liberated and don't have to worry about anything. Not that it was some horrible experience before. But it is essentially perfect now. I cannot stress this enough. This is the iPhone to have—especially for those who go years before upgrading. This model is incredible! I even saw a video on 9to5Mac yesterday which basically shows that the 6s is waterproof for at least an hour. I had to do a triple take on that one! So I don't even have to worry about accidentally getting it wet. I mean, at most it might get splashed. I do have a toddler.

Big difference! Problem? Video-man didn't take into account the effects of other apps in the background. Whilst I'm sure that he cleared the background apps, the 6S might allocate RAM differently depending on the number/types of apps it has open when compared with the 6 (ie. everyday usage).

So not such a comprehensive video.
It is. I felt the difference a year ago with iPad air 2. it was HUGE compared to iPhone 6 plus.

Why can does who believe the iPhones reloads tabs very easily post a step-by-step loading of specific web sites and which tab to switch to so that we can test it.

I have an iPhone 5s and if I get a step-by-step program, I will test.

I had 5 tabs open on my phone now, and they do not reload.

Yes, a huge difference and I was one of those thinking people were making a mountain out of a molehill. The app switcher is the same and games load incredibly fast. I tried Real Racing 3 and it was crazy quick to get in to the game.
