Well of course If you exit and play a game then they would reload but that's not what the geezer in the video did was it?

I was in the middle of writing a massive reply to this, but just opted to delete and facepalm instead. I'm sure some other poster will have a little more patience responding to your statement.

Its a phone, I am happy if 2 tabs can be stored in memory at the same time although that isn't always the case it seems like even with 2 there are sometimes reloads

Oh please, stop pulling numbers out of your ass.
My 5 can even keep 3 tabs open without refreshing.

THIS IS THE POINT! So many times I have used the word 'duped' about my 6+ and forum members roll their eyes.

My 5S ran Safari better than my 6+. In fact, it ran most apps better than my 6+.

This is because of the way Apple chose to implement the pixel rendering on the devices. It grabs a resolution MUCH higher (I think 3x?) than the device is capable, and then it downscales it to the proper size. It's a method they are using to keep consistent ratios for apps and what not. And it uses a ton of processing power.

Don't believe me? Turn off transparency and then pull up spotlight and rotate your screen orientation. No lag. Now turn transparency on, pull up spotlight and rotate your screen. You will see the icons stutter. Now try it on a 5S, they won't stutter.

My older device ran better than my new one.

Don't misunderstand my post though, I'm just saying I was able to do what the geezer did in his video on my 6 with no refreshing, I'm not saying the phones don't need more ram even if the average user might not notice much of a difference. More ram is always better.

Hell when I've got the cash I'm upgrading the 4GB in my MacBook Pro to 16GB, do I need 16GB? Nope but I'm still gonna upgrade for future proofing as my MacBook can't be upgraded every 2 years on a mobile contract so I have to stick with it far longer than I would my iPhone.

The main benefit for me is app refreshing. Go out of a game on a 1GB device to look something up on the web, and then a walk through video if you're stuck on the game - go back to the game and blam! It restarts and you've lost your save data. So, so annoying.

Same goes for business users editing a document, photo or video and they jump out to do an email. Progress not saved...

Not a problem with 2GB RAM.

Still, the RAM "deniers" made me laugh  :D

Why face palm how do you know what the guy was running in the background in the video, all I'm saying was I managed to do what he did with no problems on my 6, my test was in no way scientific and was just a quick observation like the dudes video.
Also I'm not saying the refreshing isn't an issue for people but as I've explained in my previous post I don't notice it because I close all tabs when I exit safari to play games and stuff, it's very rare I leave stuff loaded in safari hence why I don't notice it myself.

I honestly can't say I browse enough on my phone for tab refreshing to have ever in my life of owning every iPhone ever once bothered me (or even noticed to be honest) but if it keeps people happy then its a good thing.

Looks like you and bobob are in a vastly overwhelming minority. But, hey, some people like their porridge hot/cold, and some like it juuust right.

Great. So now I can finally have 50 websites open (who doesn't need that!) at the same time, meanwhile I am still envying my friends with wireless charging.
Wireless charging? Now there is a gimmick, if I charge my phone with a wire plugged in, I can use it and hold it in my hand. If I have to put it onto a wired 'wireless charger' it has to sit there, being of little use to me. I love my Apple Watch, but once attached to the 'wireless' charger it is of little use to me.
As for the 2GB RAM, I didn't really notice a lack of it before, as I usually don't have many tabs open, but I am sure it makes the overall performance smoother and faster. So I am all happy to have it.

So the 6S kept all the tabs in memory and the 6 didn't keep a single one of them? Weird.

2 GB is barely meeting minimum requirements. But in this day and age, even 2 GB can fall short.

4 GB should have been the sweet spot.

Yeah bring on the heat on me!!!!

Apple doesn't prioritize specs. They prioritize features and user experience. Most users never have more than about 5 tabs open at once. If they do, like typical users, they simply close out all the old tabs to clear more space in the RAM. Apple has never catered to their 5% power user base. The RAM upgrade is fine but only about 5% of iPhone users are going to notice. The rest will just go on using their devices the same way and not whine about it on the forums like this.
They sure seemed to highlight specs with all marketing blitz around 64-bit. I think the average user would benefit more from more RAM then 64-bit.

Look how yellow the screen is on the 6S on the right. I went to the store, and noticed right away that my 6Plus was much whiter and brighter than all the 6S Pluses on display.

The iPad Pro has 4GB ram.
The iPad Pro is another product line.

That's also why there is no iPad Air 3, the upgrades introduced to iPad Pro, or well, it's a new product, they technically aren't upgrades, will be roughly what the next iPad Air has, they probably couldn't push for more, so iPad Air is now delegated to last year tech.

But I'm sure iPad Air, iPad Mini and iPhone will not get 4GB when it becomes necessary in future, Apple will ride it out and by the time they get it, iPad Pro will sit on 8GB.

rinse and repeat.

'1GB of RAM is enough' they said.

I've only had my phone since yesterday and I already see a huge difference with apps and Safari tabs reloading. It's less frequent, if not, non-exsistant. The 6 Plus should have shipped with 2GB to begin with. Glad to see Apple corrected it on this generation, but it really makes the 6 Plus look like it was neutered on purpose.

Safari tabs refreshing is the #1 problem I have with my Mini 2 and iPhone 6+, specially when I have an app or a game open in the background. For me, 2gb RAM is more important than 3D Touch, Live Photo and whatnot. It was SO LONG overdue...

Yeah, I almost hate to give up my old 6 plus, the screen was amazing every angle. My new S is dingy yellow and looking at an angle from the bottom turns even more yellow. Seems like the early ones always have this issue, might return and wait until November.

It's amazing to see what the 1 GB extra added RAM can do to apps like Safari. Definitely gonna make THE difference. If the iPhone 6s only could come faster to the Netherlands... xD
