iPad eventually came out as a new product category at the extreme low end of what pundits were putting price predictions at. I hope the same rule applies to the VR headset. A $1500 price would be a refreshing surprise IMO.

When you review Apple's existing line up, $2k for a product like this is entirely totally feasible.

And the sad part is - it's way out of my price range. It's untouchable.

While not confident, I'm hoping the same plays out here.
If Oculus starts at $299, maaaybe Apple VR can start at $999? For me, $1,500 would be a bit above my ceiling. Depending on capabilities, I could maybe emotionally justify $1,500. But I am reeeally hoping for sub $1k.

No way. 300 Max. Resell value? I still have a 3D tv that I only tried for a few minutes in 3D mode. Doubt anyone will buy it for the 3D mode now.

I would be happy if they are something spectacular that I never would have thought of though, and 2000 would sound like a bargain. Highly doubt it though

I think people are talking about short-term resale value since the launch stock will presumably be extremely limited.

Even if it's the best VR headset on earth, what is it for? I have an Oculus Rift and beyond the novelty of the experience (which is really cool) it doesn't offer anything for me. I never use it-- ever.

Much like in the Apple TV+ movie Swan Song, I think the future would be far better served by augmented reality. Obviously there are tons of hurdles to overcome, if it’s possible at all, to get to a contact lens based system. In the movie, I laughed when Mahershala’s character takes the contacts out and sticks them on the counter for charging - like where is the battery and camera in a clear contact? I suppose one solution would be to skip the glasses / contacts idea altogether and simply implant a device that ties into our optic and auditory nerves - like what Elon’s Neuralink is working on.
