Q: Would You Pay $2000+ for Apple's AR/VR Headset?

It's going to take me about 15 minutes to stop laughing long enough to say no. I'm going to have to get some popcorn for that product launch it should be fun.

not only no, hell no.
According to rumors reported here the use cases are gaming, video conferencing and media consumption. Why do I even need another device for those is beyond me ... there are far more useful use cases ...

No, no. Not included. You need to add the $550 AirPods Max for that. :)
I've been thinking that this was the intent of AirPods Max (and Spacial Audio) all along: as a partner device/feature to support Apple VR. I think they were just ready ahead of the headset.

I mean, why not release AirPods Max early, recoup R&D spend with early adopter dollars, easily weather the sea of online gripes about price, then drop the headset and talk about how the pair offer the "ultimate, Pro Max+ experience." Especially with the v2 AirPods Max - which the v1 adopters will also gobble up - but so too will some of the headset purchasers. This is why I think we will see pricing closing in on $2k - sell headphones and headset as a package. Which would make @UltimateSyn's $1,500 number for the headset, start to "make sense." Or is it cents?

Ha ha ha.

€2.000 for something that will be inevitably be obsolete in 2-3 years? Not a chance.
What if it integrates with AppleTV+ and you are placed in the middle of the action along with SpatialAudio.

Front and Center experience for concerts with AppleMusic+, Movies, Fitness and sideloading Adult content. Next up the AppleBodySuit to feel like you are there. First hear, then see, then feel, smell.

Who’s old enough here to remember when the original iPad was rumored to be twice as pricey as its actual price? You want people to gasp at a lower than expected price.

Well that would depend on what it does, doesn't it? We know absolutely nothing about this product. We pretend to know a lot about it.

If this product allowed me to magically have a virtual Mac display of any size and resolution I want and it was so good that I could use it as a total replacement for desktop monitors.....sure maybe that is worth $2K.

Considering Apple is an antonym for gaming, and VR's only real world commercial application today is gaming, it's hard to imagine that Apple is even working on this product.

Rather than just saying no, I'll say that speculations on features and form factor that imply the pricing will be $2k are most likely completely wrong.

I'm still trying to figure out why anyone needs this??
Imagine surfing MR forum all day and night just by navigating with eye tracking and dictating via Siri.

It will also inform you that you need sleep, a health checkup, dehydration, etc while playing content.

This thread reminds me of the original macrumors iPod thread.

Can’t wait for Rossignol to link it on Twitter in 20 years to look back at all the bad takes.
