$2,000? Nope. But then, I'd not buy for $200 either. Guess I'm not the target market for VR headsets.

Nope. I wouldn't even pay $500+ for any headset on the market right now. AR/VR still seems like to much of a gimmick at this point. Maybe someday but not right now...

No. But then again I have little to no interest in ar/vr so this product isn't for me

No. How much software would even be developed for a device with such a ridiculous price point?
I was just about to make a similar comment. V/AR suffers from the same limitations as an Apple Watch. Look at Super Lucky's Tale and Moss to see that once VR leaves the first-person perspective it's not as good as using a monitor or TV.

We would need > 18-hour battery on an AR device that looks and feel like regular sunglasses/reading glasses.

For $2K+, I want the whole haptic suit!

Nope. AR glasses, that look like normal glasses? Maybe. But a headset like that? No chance. I bought a quest 2 and sold it a couple of months later, one of the dumbest purchases I made during lockdown. ?

Question: Would You Pay $2000+ for Apple's AR/VR Headset?

Answer: Hell No (for a variety of reasons) ... but I don't believe for a minute that Apple is going to charge that much for it?

I firmly believe that Apple will build out the Fitness+ ecosystem, including ties to any major sports organizations they ink agreements (AppleTV+) with, and the AR/VR device will be a key component of that.

The AR/VR device will not be a "Metaverse" device. It will primarily be a fitness/health/lifestyle device, tied to Fitness+ and a whole bunch of *paid* add-ons...

Let's say that Apple inks a deal to stream NFL games. If you have a Fitness+ subscription, you'll get a notification while watching a game that you can buy a fitness routine of your favorite team/player. Imagine a Hand/Eye coordination exercise board, but projected in the AR/VR device, anywhere you care to perform that exercise, not built into a permanent location in your home?

It will be "The best way to watch the next season of 'For all Mankind'", or any AppleTV+ content, because they will create *experiences* for that content *specifically* for the headset...

And, if Apple really steps up their camera game in the next run of phones and iPhone owners start creating some 360 content? Trust me, iCloud+ will be the "best place to stream that content to all of your devices, especially the Headset"

I'm not saying Apple's going to give this thing away, but I think Apple has a much bigger long term strategy in mind to be making it at all, and selling a handful for $2000-$3000 per unit ain't it.

Time will tell.

I wouldn't pay more than $10.
Plenty of options available for $10 :)

Does an Apple engineer come with them? Dedicated tech support? Unlimited access to games and other content? A gold case?

$2,000? This isn't a monitor stand. This could kill it before it ever appears. But I'm sure they will find some market for them. They sold a bunch of their gold watches, right? Last word: They had better be Earth shaking and mind bending for that cost...

We need some serious inflation before $2k sounds reasonable -perhaps $399 would be interesting IF you get fancy colored straps there can match the Apple Watch ....

The only headset anywhere near is the Hollo Lens and its cost is similar and look how popular that is. Its a hard no from me and most every one at that price point.

No. Other than gaming and scientific applications, I don’t think there is much market for these.

Off the top of my head, industrial, medical, education, training, service, and repair, etc are among ripe markets for AR. There are many more.

Apple will do very well.

Heck no. Not worth it. I didn’t even use the VR headset I got for free much longer than 30 days. Just not my thing.

Home Pod mark 2......

Apple are going to do the same mistake again.

Oculus quest selling really well, and Apple will come in, thinking people will pay $000000 more as it's Apple.
Just as that failed with the Homepod.
