Not the same. The X was the most expensive phone yet it sold the best of all their phones.

Not crazy, you just have a preference.
Because the last generation iPhones have been so underwhelming people were forced to pay for the X as the iPhone 8 is essentially a 7 with an upgraded processor.

This rumor seems legitimate to me. It’s about that time where Apple would release a refreshed color to instigate interest for those who are contemplating a new iPhone. And if they do update the iPhone color, I would also believe that AirPower would follow suit as well.

But for me, if the iPhone 8 had a black bezel with the red casing, that would be more appealing.

Black bezel looks so much more complete than the white front. Never understood the choice here

I don’t understand why Apple doesn’t release Product Red when the phones are released.

Think About it. It’s tactical marketing. Apple knows that if they release a new color later in the year or six months after the initial release of the latest iPhone, it sparks interest for those who might be contemplating buying a new iPhone, and what not a better way to have a Color that stands out like red. Plus, it has the possibility to help increase sales. Having a Scattered release, I think is still a smart Concept in terms of refreshing the iPhone color.

Also, the Product red iPhone will likely do very well in China, because that color symbolizes good luck as well.

That is a good point, along with the other member who quoted.

I would like a Product Red, Blue, Purple or some other unique color. At the same time, I wouldn’t like having to wonder if colors would be released and when. A catch 22 for some of us.

I totally respect everyone’s opinion on this, but I have been surprised how much of a non issue it has been on my phone. Doesn’t bother me at all like I thought it would.
Yeah, me too. Same with the red dot on the Apple Watch Series 3. Non -issue

LOL. Mobile phones had notches long before the X and all companies got rid of them in favor of a full screen. Who's living in the past?
All companies got rid of them? is that why most of android are producing phones with notches? only samsung aren't currently. Hell the pixel 3 is rumoured to have it.

They are doing it to make more screen available from top to bottom. A notch is needed currently until the tech is there for face ID to allow just a phone full of glass.

Give me the notch over outdated designs that make the phone look like a brick.

They did for a while. Face ID is mostly software though. It doesn't need the notch to work.

They already did; the experimental 5C. It didn’t sell. Metallic colors for a premium feel are what we will get from now on.
Right, that's what I meant. It's just taking them forever to do so. I guess we'll see what colors the mythical "low-cost" X will come in.

What You posted is highly inaccurate. Actually, Face ID is also very much hardware-based with the flood Illuminator, Dot projector, Infared Camera, Proximity and Ambient light sensors, microphone and including the speaker. So it does not need the notch “To work”, but the Notch is required to house all the hardware clearly.

People saying that notch nonsense should just come to NYC: the X is everywhere. It looks like every other person has it here now.

Apple could put out a phone with a notch that took up half the screen and people would still buy it.

Outright lie. FaceID requires the flood illuminator, dot projector and infrared camera in addition to the regular camera. It’s not “mostly software”.

This tired argument gets repeated every year.

I'd buy a red phone in a heartbeat, but not six months after launch. Oh well, maybe there's a slim chance AirPower might get released/at least mentioned in the press release?

This is frustrating. If this was available at launch, I'd have bought one without hesitation. Now, we're six months away from a new model so I'm going to wait. ...and no doubt be disappointed when the 8s/9 doesn't come in red either!
