Do you really not understand it? Or do you just wish Apple did this? Because this is obviously Apple's way of pumping a little bit of life into the second half the the iPhone's release cycle

All one time they've done it.... But yes

All one time on the iPhone, but Apple has also released two generations of the iPod Touch in a Product(RED) color and that has also been red/white. There is a precedent that they’ve set, and I don’t foreee that changing. Although a red X with the black front and I would drop my current X in a heartbeat.

Sensible person wants a notch on their phone because the phone is the best iPhone in the iPhone history and they can afford and keep this best iPhone in the history up to date:p:p:p:cool:
I have an x doesn’t mean I want a notch. So no it’s not all about affording it. The notch doesnt bother me on regular use. But annoying on movies or any videos. When zoomed in.

Because it will prompt a second wave of sales for the same device, obviously.

True, i guess this is the main reason. I would buy a red one if it was done when the phone first came out. But it doesn't make sense to take a loss and buy it halfway through

Apple pulling another irresistible sales tactic, the "red" iPhone! Good for another 50 million plus in additional iPhone sales in the U.S. and in the Far East - triple that of the U.S. figure! They should add the red into the X too since many wealthy Asians would not think twice buy an additional smartphone. Wow!

New colors sell phones more than new tech.

Indeed. Still Apple should've been smarter and had this Product(RED) iPhone 8, if true, released in time for Valentines Day. Would've been good to associate such a VERY NEEDING and yet Selfish emotion for helping out another person on this planet in desperate need of care and health while rewarding or being rewarded with a trinket/toy/gadget.

Why no Red iPhone X?

Easily simple. Executive greed paid for by revenues and stock options cannot reasonably afford a hit on their top tier selling product can they? lol. I'll bet Apple will say some crap about it taints the product and the brand. Mind you Jobs said the same thing over a year with Bono conversation about the OG iPod and eventually gave in.

I understand that, but it sucks that early adopters can not get the red color way, and what makes it so hard to put black screens instead of the white

How many people really buy the RED iPhones though?
They are possibly targeting the China market were Red is culturally positive.

.. and don't forget, it's the best notch in the history of notches. :p

This rumor seems legitimate to me. It’s about that time where Apple would release a refreshed color to instigate interest for those who are contemplating a new iPhone. And if they do update the iPhone color, I would also believe that AirPower would follow suit as well.

But for me, if the iPhone 8 had a black bezel with the red casing, that would be more appealing.

Now please do a rendering with a red notch.. :p

This is frustrating. If this was available at launch, I'd have bought one without hesitation. Now, we're six months away from a new model so I'm going to wait. ...and no doubt be disappointed when the 8s/9 doesn't come in red either!

Same here. My wife really wanted the red iPhone 8+ and was super pissed they didn’t have it at launch. Now that we’re 6 months away from the next gen iPhone, she’s not willing to upgrade from her 6+ that she’s had since launch day over 3 years ago. We put in a new battery and it still works great. I’m actually resentful I upgraded to the 8+ because my 6+ was getting so slow. Now that I know how much cheaper it would have been to just swap out the battery, I won’t be making that mistake again in 3-4 years when my 8+ starts getting slow. Apple has really pissed off 2 customers here. If google didn’t data mine everything, we probably would have switched to android by now. I imagine she might get the red iPhone 8+ sometime after the new iPhones are launched in September or October, especially if none of them have Touch ID. I’ll have my white iPhone 8+ for 3-5 years and she’ll have hers for 3-5 years and Apple won’t see much money from us until we’re forced to upgrade.
