No sensible person wants a notch on their phone.
I guess the millions of people who made iPhone X one of Apple's best selling phones last quarter have no sense. Thank goodness for Apple! :p

Why dont they just release these with initial 8s, id much rather get the red one at first than wait till months later to maybe get a red

Maybe the red X will come a month later, like x launch came later than 8 launch :p
It's called a demand lever. Look it up.

Think About it. It’s tactical marketing. Apple knows that if they release a new color later in the year or six months after the initial release of the latest iPhone, it sparks interest for those who might be contemplating buying a new iPhone, and what not a better way to have a Color that stands out like red. Plus, it has the possibility to help increase sales. Having a Scattered release, I think is still a smart Concept in terms of refreshing the iPhone color.

Also, the Product red iPhone will likely do very well in China, because that color symbolizes good luck as well.

Yeah I’m not sure why it’s hard for so many people to understand this strategy Lol.

Also, people on the iPhone Upgrade Program can upgrade to a new phone after they’ve owned their current one for 6 months. We’re at that point where if someone really wants red, they can easily to a trade in at Apple.

Things typically slow down in the third quarter so this is a great time to spark interest and boost sales a bit.

Consumers aren’t known for making smart decisions.

I think this criticism was appropriate for a number of recent years, but the iPhone X, AirPods, Apple Watch software updates, the Pencil, the (still too slow but real) recommitment to the Mac, etc. have been fairly impressive as of late.

The best product they released last year was the rechargeable Magic Keyboard. Apple's software continues to be terrible especially Siri and Maps.

A red iPhone X is the only red iPhone that would look good, because you just know they’re going to slap an ugly white front on the 8.

It would also be nice if they’d release these with the other models, not six months before a refresh.

I don’t think they’ll go black and red. Except with the X. The scheme has always been red and white.

I don’t understand why Apple doesn’t release Product Red when the phones are released.

Do you really not understand it? Or do you just wish Apple did this? Because this is obviously Apple's way of pumping a little bit of life into the second half the the iPhone's release cycle

All one time they've done it.... But yes

The purpose is to boost sales during the mid cycle.

This rumor seems legitimate to me. It’s about that time where Apple would release a refreshed color to instigate interest for those who are contemplating a new iPhone. And if they do update the iPhone color, I would also believe that AirPower would follow suit as well.

But for me, if the iPhone 8 had a black bezel with the red casing, that would be more appealing.

I had a black bezel on my white iPhone 8 Plus. I got a SuperShieldz tempered glass display protector that provides black "bezels" It was an excellent display protector and it was pretty. The button of course stayed white so that's the clue something is going on. But with a case on to cover the very outermost edges where the protector stops short, it looks like a black bezeled iPhone.

I got tired of it and bought a white edged protector from a different company. It's okay but I prefer SuperShieldz and the black front and will be going back to that.

Hardware appearance does not matter anymore for Apple.

Because its core - software is flatten ugly since the departure of Steve and Scott.

And Apple’s philosophy is: software and hardware are seamlessly integrated, which means the whole package is now inherently ugly regardless the hardware design.

End of story.

Thats your end of story. For my eye, skewmorphism would look very dated in 2018 and always was a bit silly and childish to me.

Rumors:
iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models in a limited edition (PRODUCT)VELVET color will be unveiled as early as tomorrow. These phones are 100% assembled in America and therefore cost about $2000.

I'm typing this on a purple Samsung S9+ so I would totally have bought a purple 8 plus had they been available when I bought my white 8 plus. One thing that draws me to the Android side of things is that most of their manufacturers aren't afraid of experimenting with colors.

I suppose since they need to give a certain amount to charity for each phone sold, they really don't want to sell as many as they would if they introduced it at the same time as the new model phone. That would cut into their profits too much.

Red is my color. Would get this baby in a heartbeat but I bet it has a white front which neutralizes any would be purchase. Just can’t stand white fronts.... a white iPhone display shows the display edges up on a white front and image. Where as the black front iPhone displaying a black image hides the border rather nicely..... all that plus visually it doesn’t frame media that well.

Offer up a black fronted Red iPhone 8 Plus and it’s mine! Shame it has to be a plus just for the double lens camera otherwise I’d get the plain 8. How anyone likes this size of phone is beyond me. It’s a pain! Even with big hands!

They did for a while. Face ID is mostly software though. It doesn't need the notch to work.
Odd thing to say considering the tech in the X’s notch! I don’t even like the X phone.... had one.... returned it for the 8+ so it’s weird for me to defend the X. I hate hate hate the rise of anti intellectualism, fake news, et al that the modern internet is known for

Just watched this and he says something at the end that is interesting: "Our commitment to make Mac the best gaming machine in the world." Wonder what happened to that.

Same here. A seeming disdain for gaming on the Mac isn’t something that started in 2011. It seems to have been that way for a while.

Actually it’s well known if you do some research that Scott was working on a much flatter version of iOS before he was a jerk and had to be fired.

Here is my honest opinion and been my opinion since last year. The product red iPhone needed to come with a black front and for the blush gold iPhone X ( if it ever exists) needs to come with a white front.
