I tried the Vision Pro demo in a the Apple Store. I hadn't been so underwhelmed by an Apple product since the original iPod shuffle. I honestly think the Quest 3 is a better device at a 7th the cost.

The AVP is super niche (not a good thing when trying to get a new platform going)

How crazy is it that the Vision Pro could see a 2nd generation before the AirPods Max and which sells at much higher volumes. 😂

I am a huge fan of stereoscopic photography, both taking pictures/videos and viewing them. I thought this device would be the ultimate viewer for that. The spatial videos were presented impressively, but I found the colors very drab. I noticed it instantly and it would have annoyed me daily. I guess Sony couldn't produce those tiny panels with a decent color space.

Well, if i didn't break a wall by running fast and blind against it, it'll probably be advisable, to backup some further distance and running up again faster against the now even thicker wall? - NOT really!

You would hope that it is indeed in production ahead of launch 😁 Unless of course you’re talking about Apple intelligence, then its launch followed by prod… nothing.

VR at a pricepoint above $1000 is a fools errand. It disconnects you from family and friends and in general doesn't do a hell of alot that your phone or ipad can do.

I enjoy my $500 Meta Quest 3 here and there but i have no actual use for it, it's just a nice to have
its a theater in your home. I can't state this enough. i watch all my tv and movies on it and it's amazing. it made me excited about media again

That's a great use case, no doubt... but incredibly niche, even for a company like Apple.

They need to get something out for half the current MSRP and get some interest in numbers high enough to spark developer interest.

I thought this would be it, and in theory would be great if you're a family-less hermit. But for my life, my 5 year old and wife don't get too happy when i escape to VR land to watch content.

We bought an 85" TV instead for half the cost of a Vision Pro

I suspect a significant price reduction.

FWIW I still absolutely love my AVP and use it almost every day. It's by far my favorite product Apple has put out in years. But it will never be a roaring consumer success as long as it's priced where it is now, and I'd be shocked if Apple disagrees. I've long thought AVP was intentionally priced high with expectations of significant price cuts to future models, we'll see if I was right. If there isn't one, I'll agree with all of you that Apple has lost it.

That can't be true. I 've laughed with so many memes about Vision Pro. Are you sure you like your AVP?

It's too hot and heavy for me to consider wearing it long enough to watch even an episode of of Roseanne on it, let alone a feature length film. And the battery life sucks so you're tethered to a power outlet anyway. Might as well spend $3500 on a killer TV and sound system. Each to their own.

I wish they would put as much focus on fixing and releasing updates to the iPhone 16 that they said they were going to a year ago then they were worried about new products going forward
I would agree if it was as simple as that. However, I believe that they already have all the resources they can put on the iPhone and iOS. In product and software development, there is a diminishing return on how much output you get by putting more resources. In fact, you may have the inverse effect if you put too many people. The one thing they can't do is to not invest in future products. (at least a little)

I have a killer tv and sound system and I don't even use them anymore unless I have guests over. Nothing can compare to a giant theater screen on OLED displays. it's hard to even go to real movie theater anymore cus they look blurry and faded. and the sound from AirPods Pro are pretty damn amazing paired with this thing. I have an annapro 2 headstrap and don't even think about the weight anymore. and I've never found it hot but I keep my house cool and don't use the light shield. and yeah I'm always sitting in a chair with a usb to plug into though many nights I watch about 2 hours of content which is fine for the battery

For me - they have to do an M5 spec bump and a price drop. If they do a full redesign, it will take time and potentially cause it to die off altogether. Something needs to drive devs to get on board.

I struggled to make a decision whether to return or keep mine at launch. I decided to keep it, and I’ve not regretted it once. I accept its drawbacks and am rewarded with everything I love and wouldn’t want to be without now.

For me a spec bump won’t get me to upgrade, I will wait for V3 (providing they upgrade the displays, especially FOV), but M5, vOS 3, more content, more apps and a price drop might get things moving…

All great unless you have "family" or "a spouse".

Socially isolating tech devices have use cases, but inherently niche appeal for that exact reason.
