Next time just skip the external dongle. I'll use my brain as the power supply. All system resources will be dedicated to powering the Vision Pro.
I wouldn't hold my breath. They gotta plan for future generations of the device. I'm quite sure they will sell the first gen with the hardware they advertised.I predict the unit will actually ship with the M3. But since they haven't announced that chip officially, they couldn't say it yet.
They didn’t do that with the iPad, so I wouldn’t hold my breath. For PC, there will likely be remote-desktop applications like for the iPad, but that’s not usable for graphics-intensive gaming. It's probably just a dev thing, but if they allow you to use this thing like a monitor for other things (PS5, Switch, PC) the value proposition changes a lot for me.
The additional head strap is the antenna! Now everything makes sense, there will be an optional cellular head strap accessory. We'd probably see antenna lines on it somewhere if it had cellular.
This is false. The Apple Watch for example can remain as-is.My thinking is that EU has mandated (and made law) that ANY consumer electronic must have USB-C power and data capability…
I don’t think they will support cellular anytime soon because the use cases are too niche (for a product that is already arguably niche) and because tethering exists. However, when used in a train or in the back seat of a car, cellular would be useful.I simply don't understand all this push to make it the kind of device you walk around with, which would necessitate a need for a cellular connection. Apple doesn't sell a Macbook with a cellular option, and I think that's most likely how this will be perceived.
Maybe. But given that this is probably 9 months out, and given rumors that the M3 will be announced nearing the end of this year...I think Apple just may take the "under promise and over deliver" tact here.

the Apple Watch has no physical cable data transfer, and inductive charging was excluded from the regulationThis is false. The Apple Watch for example can remain as-is.
One reason not to do it is supply chain capacity. They can‘t just put it in all new devices because the new 3 nm process won’t have unlimited capacity, and also because it could run into unexpected issues since it is a new process. It would be unwise to add more risks to the already challenging production process for the headset. Better use proven tech and proven supply as much as possible.Maybe. It’s likely that the Vision Pro will usher in the attack of the body snatchers.Does anyone else think that Apple is using Extra Terrestrial / Alien Technology in its products like the Apple Vision Pro? Does Apple have one of the crashed space ships in its basement whose technology they will use to miniturize the Apple Vision Pro? 🤔 I bet they are using it for the Apple Car too?
Yes, that’s called tethering which I mentioned.Instead of cellular in the headset can't you just use the hotspot on your iPhone that already uses cellular?

Even though the Apple Vision has M2, which is more powerful than M1, it still has to use a big portion of its computing power to create the virtual environment. The amount of computing power remaining for apps, at this point, is much lower even compared to any M1 Mac.
And that's why Apple hasn't shown off Pro apps for the device yet. It's probably gonna take another couple of years for that.
For now, Apple Vision will only be able to run pro apps by virtualizing the Mac's screen, hence letting the Mac handle the pro app's power consumption.
Can you point out the filing or data that shows that?Yes, but you were saying that you think the EU has mandated (and made law) that ANY consumer electronic (which would include the Apple Watch) must have USB-C power and data capability, and that is false.
See, that's where I think you and many others have completely missed the point. Vision PRO as presented by Apple IS a productivity device. It's a general use computer with an entirely new way to organize and streamline your workflow. That's who I'll use it. I'm skipping my next lap top upgrade to buy this. Will I try Beat Saber when it comes out for Vision Pro? Sure! But mainly I'll be sitting in my home office with the device plugged in. Just as I'm sitting here now on my Macbook Air, in my home office, with my laptop plugged in.
Go back and watch the Keynote. It was about "spacial computing" in Apple's presentation.
Developers will be able to adapt to the M3 in fairly short order. They didn't mention it because the M3 hasn't been officially announced yet. And Dev units will come with the M2.
Really the only prominent ones were Email and FreeForm. The reality is that its still a work in progress. They needed to announce it get it in the hands of developers to continue to shape it to be the device it will become next year.I don't think we saw a large portion of what this product will do. I use Apple Pages to write. Do you doubt that pages, numbers, keynote, etc won't work? I'm certain they will. It was a pre-production device still under final development.

See the text of the directive here, in particular part I of the annex. You’ll see that this is exclusively about devices that support wired charging, and only mandates USB for charging (not data), for an explictly enumerated list of device classes. Note that article 2 specifies that laptops are only affected starting end of April 2026, whereas the other 12 device categories are affected from the end of 2024.Can you point out the filing or data that shows that?
