Care to share how you did it? I'm a linux noob.
It performed way worse then the geforce 6600le and the ati radeon hd3250.
I think when booting with the HD5770 I read something about the HW acceleration not enabled or something.

First, note that I can't guarantee it will work. Also, afterwards, video output from your graphic card in the 16x slot will be blank (after the GRUB prompt and the first boot stages) and the only output will be from your Radeon HD 5770.

First launch the terminal and find out the PCI address of you Radeon HF 5770 card with the lspci command :

Code:
lspci | grep -i vga

Then, use your favorite text editor to create a new conf file for Xorg with the fowling command :

Code:
sudo nano /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-device.conf

Fill the new blank file with the following informations. Make sure that you write the proper PCI address.

Save and reboot.

I reached out to @foxlet and got no reply. So how about it @q66_. I'd like to volunteer to help pick up the mantle for Void Linux PowerPC 32 bit. I'm currently learning how to build and package for Void. I still have more to learn about running a mirror and will have questions about what else is involved. Any interest in teaching?

Thanks.

I created an xbps package that installs 4 web browsers for ppc64 glibc Void. It's a bit hackish, and probably frowned upon by the void devs, but whatever. You'll have 4 good working browsers that display proper colors with menu entries. Download link and info found here.

Howdy @wicknix!
I'm trying to use this package on my G5 Quad. FF 78 works great, but I can't get Interweb or Arctic Fox to start.
I tracked down what I believe to be the executables in the /opt directory, and when I try to run them directly via the terminal there, it looks like I'm missing the libatomic library.
I read your post on your blog and assume its probably included in the package but being a n00b to Void I can't figure out how to just extract the contents of the xbps file to grab the library and throw it in my /usr/lib.
Could you point me in the right direction to proceed please?
Thank you for the help!

EDIT: Added terminal output:
[danieldavis@G5Void ~]$ cd /opt/arcticfox/ [danieldavis@G5Void arcticfox]$ ls application.ini dictionaries libnssdbm3.so libxul.so arcticfox libfreeblpriv3.chk libnssutil3.so omni.ja arcticfox-bin libfreeblpriv3.so libplc4.so platform.ini browser libmozsqlite3.so libplds4.so plugin-container chrome.manifest libnspr4.so libsmime3.so precomplete components libnss3.so libsoftokn3.chk removed-files defaults libnssckbi.so libsoftokn3.so run-mozilla.sh dependentlibs.list libnssdbm3.chk libssl3.so [danieldavis@G5Void arcticfox]$ ./arcticfox-bin ./arcticfox-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [danieldavis@G5Void arcticfox]$ ./arcticfox ./arcticfox: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory [danieldavis@G5Void arcticfox]$ cd ../interweb/ [danieldavis@G5Void interweb]$ ls application.ini interweb-bin libnssdbm3.so omni.ja browser libfreeblpriv3.chk libnssutil3.so platform.ini chrome.manifest libfreeblpriv3.so libplc4.so plugin-container defaults liblgpllibs.so libplds4.so precomplete dependentlibs.list libmozsqlite3.so libsmime3.so removed-files dictionaries libnspr4.so libsoftokn3.chk run-mozilla.sh fonts libnss3.so libsoftokn3.so icons-made-by.txt libnssckbi.so libssl3.so interweb libnssdbm3.chk libxul.so [danieldavis@G5Void interweb]$ ./interweb-bin ./interweb-bin: error while loading shared libraries: libatomic.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Ahh. Try sudo xbps-install -Su libatomic and see if that fixes it. If not try xbps-query -Rs (i think thats right) libatomic for the actual package name. Let me know if either works for you.

So since the unit i created this on is running void i figured i'd post here, however it'll work on any machine using icewm. I rounded up a bunch of themes, icons, fonts, etc and finally got my machine to look like a relatively authentic win9x/2k. I rolled it all together in an archive if anyone is interested. It's an icewm theme with the usable extra bits pulled from chicago95. Grab it here: https://ufile.io/q3k4uof7
That link is only good for 30 days. Just an FYI.

Screen shot of 17" powerbook. The fonts really do make a difference.

Problem with drop down menus

I have Problems with some drop down menus like the menus in OctoXBPS. After drop down the menu is only usable by keyboard but not with the mouse.

I have the same Problem on 2 different Void installations(Void64), but same computer (G5 2x2 AGP 2004). Can anyone confirm this problem?

Hi,

I have a g5 quad I'm trying to install void on

If there is a step by step guide in this thread, any body happen to know what page it's on?

It's from the disk partioning onwards where I'm a bit clueless, there is stuff on the void site, but it's showing bits of info for various platforms, and I can't quite make heads or tails of it right now

Thanks

I've got it to this point now, but I'm not sure what all the mount points are supposed to look like

It is not Void, but the commands are the same to create/delete partitionsin pmac-fdisk and help to understand how it’s working.
