I really am trying to get excited about the goggles, but this doesn’t help. No offense to the developer. Anything short of moving around the Enterprise-D in VR probably will be a pass for me.
But if they do release a Trek title, then take my money. 🤓🖖

I say that because I can’t think of anything else that would entice me.
That’s already a thing. There was a very well done fan project that lets you move around in all the major rooms/sets from the TV show. It got shut down by CBS/Paramount. I’m sure you can still get it somewhere.

Imagine beat sabre in perfect room scale AR with full Apple Music support? They already have fully timed lyrics and AI driven “sing” modes.
Yeah, if anything I'd speculate over whether Apple's poached him, not whether he's excited to see his old company's game running on the device.

They all run Star Trek Bridge Crew? I never researched it much. I saw Facebook and kept going.
was it ported to other platforms or do the ones you mentioned run the same OS?

You aren’t limited to a single headset on PCVR. You can use any headset on PC

Okay that answers everything. Assuming the Apple Reality can be used with PCVR, get a gaming PC and a copy of Half Life Alyx

Half-Life looks better for a $3,000 AR/VR Apple goggle. I hope actual game play is better than watching this video. Computer generated perspective is maybe what turns people off.

I gotta ask, how the hell are you gonna play games on the Apple Reality when the thing is believed to not use touch controllers?
Exactly. Beat Saber is one of the few things that would get me interested in the headset, but without controllers it's hard to imagine the accuracy would cut it.

Yes Beat Saber was made by Beat Games who were bought by Meta (or the company formerly known as Oculus) last year. And despite this, Meta still releases Beat Saber on all platforms, because it is too big to be kept exclusive, just like when Microsoft bought Minecraft they port it to all platforms instead of keeping it exclusive to Xbox and PC.
The Windows and PlayStation versions of Beat Saber were released before Beat Games was acquired be Facebook. Beat Saber hasn’t been released on the Pico store, even though many of the top Quest games have been. I don’t think they will release a version for the Apple headset.

Good lord, if it isn’t for you then no need to whine in every AR/VR related thread. How about MR wait for the event before posting their two cents, in 10 years we will be revisiting these archived threads full of bad takes.

What a dumb looking game. If thats a headline app for this headset, I'll make a hard pass.
Come to think of it, I never gave a **** about their stupid headset anyway ...
It looks dumb but...and I dont say this lightly....everyone seems to love it to death.

Now...I dont know why apples headset is worth $3000 to get a game available on multiple other platforms...but the game itself is universally loved.

I hope this question ages about as well as the question “how the hell are you going to call someone on the iPod Phone when the thing is believed to not have buttons” did in 2007…

Oh boy, how it might have to work without controllers?
Read about last issues after this game was released on PSVR2 (not yet played) and hotfix released to allow change how controllers are located in space as they were drifted from reality causing huge problems for people to get proper control over “sabers”.

I can’t imagine how “good” it will work to track only using cameras on front of face 😂

For the cost of the Device to play this game, I would rather buy a damn drum kit and 100 hours worth of lessons.

You know I find it funny that the majority of people here in MacRumors, the most hardcore Apple fans around, are so against the idea of an Apple VR headset, meanwhile the VR community (a community that primarily uses PC and Android since the Quest 2 uses Android 12) are the ones most excited about Apple making a headset, even begging Apple to make a headset.
I know, right? But it goes beyond the VR - Many people here just b1tch about everything these days.

Anyone got a headache or motion sickness..? I think it's going to take some time to get used to this AR/VR. Maybe it's different when you are in the game.
I've never got a headache or motion sickness while playing Beat Saber or using VR... The Apple headset is said to be far superior to anything existing today so I don't think these will be an issue

Then have a look at a small Star Trek vr demo that I made for the Oculus Quest... and that's just a small glimpse of what's possible.
