The rumors are that it won't come with touch controllers, but who knows. Maybe there will be an add-on controller or Apple will make a third-party controller market. It feels like there needs to be force feedback and traditional controls for many games.
Of course there will be third-party controllers! Perhaps not at the beginning, but give it time.
I mean, every apple device has third party stuff. Everyone of them. So I don't see how it would be any different for Apple Headset ;)

Third-party controllers are more difficult with a VR headset, especially with a mobile-class OS, for a couple reasons.

With most camera based controller tracking systems for VR, the headset itself is detecting the position of the controllers, so the tracking code is on the headset (or the computer the headset is attached to, for PC headsets). The cameras on the headset and the light beacons on the controllers are carefully synchronized

With systems where the controllers can fully track themselves, they still need to be aligned with the headset’s coordinates… both systems need to share a 0 point for lateral position and rotation.

And even if they get it to work, software needs to support it, but there may not be much incentive for that because it’s a subset of an already niche audience.

3rd-party VR controllers will require more direct cooperation with Apple than traditional console controllers would.

VR (even more so than regular gaming) requires playing to judge any game fairly. This game is both relaxing and energetic and loads of fun. It might not be a system-selling title for $3k but it is for PSVR. You're missing out.
Absolutely, Gran Turismo 7 with VR and a decent wheel is absolutely incredible.

I'm old, but I'm definitely curious; however, I see the application as limited. It's very much for a focused group of users.

Games appear to be the key mass group here, specifically in flight and racing simulators, but Beat Saber is a nice innovation that I've seen before for the VR space.

I also see a niche application for eCommerce; however, it's more a novelty. Amazon uses AR to simulate what items look like when they are placed in a room, for example, plus they can even simulate what shoes look like on you. It's quite clever, but definitely a novelty.

There's also the whole metaverse thing, but I find it weird and also very niche. I cannot imagine that going mainstream.

The reality is, VR headsets have been around for years now, but as humans, we like interacting with real beings. I don't ever foresee VR headsets becoming the norm and adopted by a mass market. The pandemic was a great example of that. Initially, people loved remote working, but soon the craving to return to a more hybrid work model crept back in. People need physical and real contact with others.

I don't think it'll be a success, but who am I to say? It'll still be interesting...

1.I thought meta is going full standalone exclusive for this but It looks like they are choosing the way microsoft did with minecraft
2.WHY EVERYTIME I COME TO THE FORUM I JUST SEE NEGATIVITY?! THIS IS THE TOP VR GAME!

What a dumb looking game. If thats a headline app for this headset, I'll make a hard pass.
Come to think of it, I never gave a **** about their stupid headset anyway ...

Funny. Tell me something, have you ever played a VR game? I'm guessing not.

That’s already a thing. There was a very well done fan project that lets you move around in all the major rooms/sets from the TV show. It got shut down by CBS/Paramount. I’m sure you can still get it somewhere.
Ah yes, Stage 9! It was made with such love! but then Paramount's lawyers descended upon them before Bridge Crew got released. The VR version ran pretty poorly on my PC but I loved it in spite of the headaches. But yes, if you're diligent enough you will be able to find a download somewhere on the internet :)

VR…AR is going to be like 3D TVs. A gimmick. Maybe this will be Apples next Newton device. Lol 😆
Did you quote MR twice for stereoscopic VR effect?

As a Quest 2 user, I'm excited to see what Apple does with AR/VR. If they get some decent games and fitness apps I may say "take my money"

Beat Games is owned by Facebook. Why has no one pointed this out? It won’t happen.

Beat Saber is one of those games too big to keep exclusive, just like Microsoft bringing Minecraft to everything, including competitior's platforms.

Beat Saber is a very comfortable game on other headsets. No motion sickness or headaches. It is one of the best optimized games out there. I've never seen a video that looks anything like it actually does in VR. It sounds strange, but if you've used a headset before you would know what I mean.

Apple's headset will be way overkill for Beat Saber, but it would still be a great addition.
I have gotten headaches and motion sickness from it. I have tried all the VR products and have the same issues. Even my eye doctor says it’s common.

The platforms/stores it is on are the platforms it was on when Facebook bought it—Steam, PlayStation, and Oculus/Meta. I don’t expect it to be released to other companies’ platforms, such as Pico and Apple.

They just brought the game to PSVR 2. They didn't have to do that, but they did. They'll bring Beat Saber over if it means more money since the game is too big to keep off of other platforms

Also the game isn't on Pico because Pico is kinda a struggling platform. It's missing A LOT of games because well, hardly anyone has one. The headset is only available in Europe with no word of a North American release, so why bother bringing Beat Saber over to it when the headset is only available in one region. The few people who have Pico headsets aren't even using it standalone, they're using it for PCVR.

To be fair, most of that craving was from middle managers who needed to justify their jobs and ceos who disliked empty offices and losing control over their employees.

Love Beat Saber on Quest 2, feels like objects and walls will actually hit me when i’m immersed into the game. There is definitely a tolerance I had to build up to even play before getting motion sickness around 10-15minutes and would have to start my tolerance over if not played for a while. Hardest part for me is wearing glasses underneath the headset and lining up the screens properly so everything was in focus. I’ll be curious how Apple handles their headset and if they have found a way to minimize the motion sickness I tend to get in VR.

Yeah, but PS VR2 kinda shares the same store as the original PS VR, so it could be seen poorly if Meta withheld it.
The Pico store has half of the 20 most reviewed games from the Quest store, and 70% of the top 20 best rated Quest apps. https://www.roadtovr.com/top-rated-quest-2-apps-available-on-pico-4/
And I doubt Meta would release it on Pico even if it were just as popular as the Quest line.

And even with your Minecraft comparison, Microsoft hasn’t released a Bedrock version of Minecraft for Macs, but only the Java version. The Bedrock version has significantly improved performance, though at the cost of not supporting mods.
It would be easy to port the Bedrock version to Macs... that’s what the iPad/iPhone version is, and where it started. And Microsoft explicitly disallowed running the iPad version on Macs.

Imagine having auto generated levels based on the Apple Music library. Would be awesome.
I believe there are legal hurdles, so that is unlikely. The license that Apple has negotiated with labels probably doesn’t allow that kind of use. Not that Apple couldn’t renegotiate those contracts, but it isn’t as simple as just programming the feature.
