Received tracking information first this this morning. UPS - Next day air, delivery by 3pm. Talk about taking this "down-to-the-wire!"... What a roller coaster week it's been!
They will update closer to the 10/14 date, still almost a month out.

Wow, really? I got my tracking numbers, but they're not updated yet.
I'm surprised at the time commitment. When I was waiting for our UPS driver when I preordered the 5, he was so far behind. I'm a teacher and work at a school, was worried that the office would close and I wouldn't get because he was running so far behind.
Here's to hoping mine also have that 3:00 commitment.
guessing he's pulling the 3pm off status in verizon website when you check order status... that's exactly what I see for mine on there also. ups next day air - 3pm... check yours there.
Appears the FedEx deliver by time changed from 3PM to 8PM for tomorrow
Edit: can someone tell me how I can enable the pre-sign option? Or is there a link to a FedEx pre-sign form someone may have? Thanks!
To help you out and every one else who will see this happen, let's explain how UPS and FedEx overnight works. They both have 2 overnight services. Overnight next day air and a saver version of the same.
The full price version delivers by 10:30 AM. Anywhere. The Saver version delivers by 3:00 to business address but by end of day to residential address. We have the saver version. So if your phone is being delivered to a business address the commitment time is 3:00. If it's going to your home its end of day.
So confusedmy tracking info on the preorder status pages are for fedex and say expected delivery is today by 3pm, but then I got a shipping confirmation email from Verizon that gives me a UPS tracking number and just says a shipping label has been created?? Anyone else have two tracking numbers?

VZW is shipping mine via UPS. UPS shows "Order Processed: Ready for UPS" and has been this way since Monday. Through their website, it only shows the destination city (suburb of LA) and that it is coming UPS Next Day Air Saver.
However, I just downloaded the UPS app and it shows it is coming from Memphis. Why wouldn't it show any progress at all in UPS if the shipment is originating in Memphis to get to LA by tomorrow?
EDIT: In the UPS app, it says in the Package Progress section - Created 9/18/14 at 10:52 a.m.
It is currently 6:48 a.m on the West Coast. It isn't even 10:52 a.m. anywhere in the U.S.

A Nugget of Hope
No updates since I ordered my iPhone 6+ SG after failing at Apple.com, got it in around 3:18AM EDT. Got an email saying 10/7 after the screens all said 9/19, like a lot of folks. Had resolved I was going to receive in October. As of yesterday, still no movement, no updates, no CC charge, etc. I called the internet orders guys (great recommendation) just to make sure there was no logjam. Nice guy said all looks good and will ship out today. Still no movement except just now my phone finally shows upgraded so it is grayed out. Anyway, may or may not actually ship today...but it seems there is hope. Oh and I was in the dreaded D772001 and order 141XXX. Not counting on it but wanted to offer a nugget of hope for those still OCDing on this awesome phone.

Ok, that's fine, however what about my other question of how do I print out FedEx's pre sign form?
I always have too until my manager at my work informed me that our branch is one of UPS' first stops of the day. Here's hoping to an early delivery!
yes, but it's not something you should worry about... it's next day... and they legally can't deliver it before tomorrow, so it wouldn't matter if it was in Memphis, or China... next day, means next day. They aren't driving it to you, they fly it. It's what? 3 hour flight? Not a big deal... You'll get a tracking confirmation of this today.
Because they can easily get it to LA overnight from Memphis.
People lets not forget UPS and FedEX do this for a living, they don't only work during iPhone preorders. Just because your phone doesn't seem to be taking the most logical route doesn't mean that logistically its the best route.
I received the same info. Ordered 3:10 AM EDT with a email stating delivery by 10/7. Spoke to Bill at the internet orders line and he said it looks like it is shipping out today. I don't see anything on my end (no CC charge, Iconic status the same, and no changes in My Verizon website) so I'm not so sure. I hope he wasn't lying to me though.

There is still a lot of time for it to move. They will have it there tomorrow. Because your out west, they have more time for your package than us in the east, so they move ours first. You'll see some movement later today.Check in a few hours. I am sure the status would change. Mine was showing up as Shipping label received since Monday. It just changed to proper tracking an hour ago!

Anyone seeing anything different when they log into My Verizon? Order status there says "UPS Second Day Air." Shouldn't that say Next Day since that was the shipping commitment at checkout?
It looks from the tracking site snapshot you posted that those options are not available for this shipment. I'd call FedEx (1 800 463 3339) and ask if they can help.
Edit: While I was writing this UPS emailed me and asked if I would like to pre sign for mine. So it should be possible.

If you are within a certain range of the distribution center, UPS Ground, 2nd Day, or Next Day will all deliver the next day. It really just depends how far you are.
My phone's been in Newark since Sunday. Also says the shipment info was sent to FedEx. I'm thinking the phones are stored at Newark in limbo until Verizon sends fedex where to ship them...?

Here's what you do to fix the time. Call fed-ex, and say you need to "jump the line" those specific words will trigger a response for them to boost you to an earlier time.
Mine says UPS NEXT DAY AIR-3PM in My Orders.. What does your UPS tracking show? or is it not up yet?
