Yeah, I will never preorder again. This was just a dreadful experience. The wait was one thing but it was not receiving a confirmation email, no information under order status, knowing that people who ordered phones wayy after me got theirs & etc.

I was reading an interview with one of the iphone suppliers that stated that the retailers and media keeps saying its due to lack of supplies and suppliers laugh at it because it's due to retailers wanting to create chaos as a retail strategy by telling people that they're not getting their phones till Dec.

I think most of us can kind of agree with this, seeing the constant planes coming in and out of the country. Atleast 2 mil iphones entering the US every day.

All of this was so stressful + then on top of it the lady at Verizon processed my order wrong and b/c I don't feel like shipping the phone back, im getting the color that I didn't want (#firstworldproblems).

Next time I'm either gonna be at the Apple store on launch day or I'm just gonna wait till January when the price is cut in half.

I am ordercluster E. See I think this is something we should all get it working b/c I think it can help everyone figure out where we are in the line. **ASSUMING IT GOES IN ORDER OFCOURSE**

You're referring to your preoder confirmation # or did the actual ACE preorder # work?!

I used my pre-order number in there. The long as* number. I will try my reg order number in a bit.

That's a new one on me. I'm a recent business undergrad and I don't recall that as a legit marketing tactic :D I would think that would just piss off the customers and drive them to other retailers, sort of like people cancelling their VZW orders and picking up at the Apple store when available. Or in more extreme cases, AT&T totally fubar-ing my order and pushing me to VZW.

I don't think they care where you buy the phone, since they don't really make money on that (with Apple devices anyway). They just want your two year contract.

Could be but they also lose out on accessories, which they make a handy profit from, and I'm sure theres some other downsides to selling devices indirectly rather than directly.

Where is everyone finding the updated ship dates?

From the Order Status website:

Order Date: 09/14/2014
Order Number: <removed>
Order Status: Your order is processing. Your shipping details will be available soon.
Tracking Number:

From order email confirmation:
Apple iPhone 6 16GB in Silver
Deliver by 9/19

I'm wondering the same thing, I can dig in the My Verizon site under order history and find an actual order number but it shows not to be a good number but the long number I got with my 9-21 order just shows what yours does.

Yeah. Preordering was a hassle. Like I said before it'll be my first and last time preordering. Next time I'm just going to wait it out until like December when I know there will be plenty of phones in stock. People who preordered shouldn't have to wait for 3-4 weeks for a phone they've already reserved, while other people can just walk right in and buy it first hand.

I find that hard to believe. While there are a lot of planes coming in, I still reference the WSJ article referencing 140,000 6+ a day and about 480,000 6s. There are also articles saying that Foxconn is still in need of more employees to make phones.

While there are phones all around, there are not phones of every type all around. While I was able to get a 64gb 6+ at Apple, I could not see many 64 6+ space gray phones anywhere, which is what I originally ordered.

I would think they would want to get caught up in time for Black Friday here. The period from Black Friday until New Years will be a big sales time I think, especially as more people see the iPhone

I finally got the iconic link to work.

I am in Order Cluster "E" and have an Iconic Status of "C" Order Source "S" Order Type "PS"

I am getting antsy. I have seen people with ship dates of 10/24 already getting theirs.

A lot of the 24th dates I see getting their's are plus orders from sometime during the day on the 12th. If I recall, the dates slipped on the plusses pretty fast shortly after pre-orders opened.

As far as 6's go, I think I saw orders from the 18th-22nd(depending on color) or so having shipped. Shipping and order updates have pretty much stalled the end of this week.

Last week I noticed some uptick in order updates late friday through Saturday. Who knows, the shipment from China could be large and is still being sorted, etc.

I had an original ship date of 10/7 but the chick screwed up my order and had the wrong color and storage capacity and so I had to re-order a few days later and now have a ship date of 10/17.

THe URL unfortunately seems to keep getting messed up.

If you go here and look at the first comment from Chad Moran, he shows you how to do it:

http://www.reddit.com/r/iphone/comments/2gcb8k/did_you_preorder_through_verizon_heres_a_way_to/

But the dif between this and the original iconic search is it tells you quite a bit more information for example, what type of "processing" stage are you at--are you in the final stages about to get a tracking # or are your processing but they just havent charged u & etc.

check ^^

Here is the correct URL. Just remove the ***'s. Copy and paste into Notepad and replace the capitalized portions with your info. Put in browser

Sorry guys. Didn't realize it kept botching the url.

Thanks! Got it work.. now digesting the details... :)

I was able to cancel my preorder and buy the phone at Apple and still got the $200 credit from Verizon which they applied to my bill when I returned the 4s to them.

^^ You know, initially, I thought EXACTLY what you just wrote. But when I thought about it some more, it actually made a lot of sense. Create chaos and the urgency to buy. They're using the consumers emotions to manipulate them to buy. If they make you think that if you purchase your device at this very moment and it's already backordered to Mid November, then if you had plans to wait until November to purchase it, you would most likely do it now in fear that the backorder would get much worse and you would be pushed back until February.

I think you have to get lucky with a rep that doesn't care or isn't paying attention, as many have had the opposite experience regarding that scenario.

^^ And I think they definitely want to be caught up for Black Friday and I am CERTAIN they will be. All of these orders are gonna be filled by the end of October...even the ones backordered to November will be.

EDIT: I think apple is manipulating this whole thing--not the carriers. They're the ones not telling the carriers when theyre going to get their shipments which throws the carriers in a frenzy and push things back to cover their arse.

Good deal, I am cluster "S" same status and source code and type. What did you order, what day?

Bingo! There is another 777 flight from Hong Kong, Pudong, and I am assuming another MD11 from Anchorage, which comes from China as well. That is a lot of room for potential iphones.

They had seen me a couple of times in the last few days. Also, it was a corporate store, so I am not sure if that made a difference.

You may be right. Although they do run some risk that people will get impatient and buy an Android phone. I think the carriers get more profit from them. That means they may push them more. And Samsung is coming out with a new phone too. The Moto X has gotten great reviews. If this is Apple's strategy, I think it is quite risky. Remember too this is Tim Cook's first big thing. And they have the watch coming out later too.

Yes! They definitely do! See I think they definitely didn't have ENOUGH devices in hand, however, the way phones are shipping out so quickly + how they refuse to give the carriers any information leads me to believe this is also somewhat tied in their marketing strategy.

The Samsung Galaxy note comes out OCt 17th. If they are already processing orders that were originally supposed to be shipped 10/28, they're probably going to be filling the remaining orders PRETTY QUICKLY! Perhaps even way before 10/17!

Do we have confirmation that all these planes are carrying iPhones, and how many? A lot of things are made in China that both UPS and FedEx could be shipping.

I think they are already taking preorders for the Note aren't they?

The only planes I know FOR SURE are carrying iphones are the ones here:

http://flightaware.com/live/iphone/

And a random AK to Ontario flight only b/c people on this forum have friends that work at the Ontario location which have confirmed the flight is for iphones.

See, the thing I've found with flightaware is that not ALL of the flights carrying iphones are shown here:
http://flightaware.com/live/iphone/

or archived properly--if that makes since.

Sometimes there are gaps where we can see planes going from one origin to a destination but not able to see the returning flights.

I AM, HOWEVER, 80% sure this flight is the main one (or ONE OF the main ones) supporting Verizon preorders: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX9020

It coincidently started having routes Sept 19th, and has correlated with all of the Verizon shipping waves. Although I can see the planes route from Memphis to Anchorage, I can't see the returning. But that's what I was saying regarding flight aware. This isn't the Bermuda triangle--the plane has to make its way eventually back to Memphis to go back to Anchorage but the data isn't there.

For us, we only need to worry about FedEx planes. I haven't seen a verizon order with ups. Either way, it appears they are running the Pudong to Memphis 777 again today. Its already on its way. I would have to assume there is iPhones on that plane. Also, they have some that go to ANC first then MEM, and Hong Kong to MEM direct.
