I just tried the same thing, and they told me that they could not help me. They gave me a number for which to call and after being transferred between 2 automated systems and 3 departments, I was told that because I am a new customer, I can screw off. Of course, that's not a direct quote, but the rep said "I will not lie to you, you are not being prioritized because your account is not active." And How can I activate my account? Activate a phone. And how can I activate a phone? I have to have the phone in front of me, which I cannot do, because I am a new customer. I just find it ridiculous that they would treat someone who had just given them their business like a second rate customer.
Better news for everyone else though: The rep told me that Verizon is extremely angry at Apple for allowing them to over-sell phones. At least they are doing something. I guess
