Wait for order, or try in-store?

Unfortunately, I was unable to order my iPhone 6 from Verizon until today (silver, 64gb). Per VZW's website, my phone will deliver by 10/14.

I'm sure this has been discussed before in the thread, but what do you think are the chances Verizon's stores will have this model in stock on release day? As with everyone else, I would love to have a phone sooner then 1 month from now, so I am wondering the chances of being able to visit a store, pick up a phone, and cancel my pre-order.

I've never gotten an iPhone near its release before so I don't have any experience regarding the initial release date stock at carrier stores.

I was looking back at my email from my iPhone 5 pre-order 2 years ago and it has the same location code. I remember my iPhone coming out of Memphis,TN so I don't think the location code means anything other than where we are located.

In the order process it asked if I wanted to keep the same SIM, so I told it yes(I have an iPhone 5), anyone know what that means?

Mines a 64gb 6+, currently sitting in Newark, NJ

Same thing happened on my order process. I clicked use original sim since I'll be swapping my sim from my current iphone 5S. Therefore you do not need a sim included within the new phone. Otherwise if its a new line with a new number you'd need a new sim for activation.

You can order from Apple and get it sooner.

Never heard of an iPhone being sold without a SIM Card in it already. Even the box has the SIM ID on it.

SoCal orders

It looks like there are quite a few from SoCal that have not had any shipping updates... Has anyone from the OC area received their shipping/tracking info?

I'm expecting Tuesday or Wednesday for updates on my order.

From my understanding (and per speaking with a Verizon rep), in order to receive the trade-in promotion Verizon is offering, you must purchase the phone direct from Verizon. True, or are they just messing with me?

Placed another order for a 6 for my wife at 3:30pm Central on Saturday 09/13/14. It's a 6 Gold 64GB, it has shipped and at local FedEx facility in Memphis just like my phone that was ordered at 2:08AM on launch morning...

6 Plus seems to be biggest issue.

I have no idea. I'm selling my 64GB 5S elsewhere. I was offered more than the $200 or $300 that Verizon offers.

I was on the Apple site yesterday night and the 6 was still being shipped at launch. I don't know why people are freaking about the 6...Obviously there is no shortage.

Exactly! Yet MANY are freaking out about their 6. Even me being a worrier wouldn't be worried if I ordered the 6.

Unfortunately I have a 16GB 4S, so Verizon's offer is likely my best chance at any sort of decent trade-in value.

If you're upgrading a line and already have a nano sim (iphone) you shouldn't need a sim since you'll only be removing the sim from your current device into the newer one. If you aren't upgrading and adding another line with a different number you would then need a newer sim. At least that's my understanding.

I agree. Aren't there details posted on their site. I thought I read here that people have so long to turn them in. (30 days I think) but I would check the offer itself. They always show the terms and conditions

Didn't I say that? LOL

I think you can squeeze a little more out of your buyer:D

How much are they going for? I'm sick of selling on craigslist, I used gazelle or sellmymac.com even though they offer less than selling on CL. CL just not worth dealing with the flakes and people giving you super low offers so they can turn around and resell it.

Yes, the details are posted there -- you must submit your trade-in request by 9/30 and then send the phone within 30 days of your request.

My initial question is geared more towards wondering if carrier stores (VZW, AT&T, Sprint) typically have a decent bit of release date stock for iPhones, as I could happily make a trip to a Verizon store if it means not waiting a month for my phone to arrive.

Depends on which model you are wanting...

If it says deliver by 10/28, why are you expecting it on the 19th? it won't be processing for a while.
