Hmmm I should wait and see.....I wonder if it will be on s version.
I don't see an s version this time (i.e. no 7s). Apple likes to mix things up. They couldn't have called iPhone 7 iPhone 6 SE or iPhone 6 series 3 for obvious reasons, it sounds old. iPhone 7 is the end of the line for the current design language. All new everything in 11 months.

I see it was more suggestion than telling.

Next year is the 10th anniversary so that is a major reason to not have the s model for next year.

If the 8 was going to be the 7s, they wouldn't have had the 7 with the design of the 6s. That's how we know. What I basically did was a checklist, and I asked myself, does my use case fall in line with what the 7 offers?

Do I want adapters? No.
Do I like my headphone jack? Yes.
Is the speed of the 6s too slow that I need another phone? No.
Is there an noticeable improvement with LTE on the T-Mobile network? I don't think so.
Is Retina HD that much different from the 6s display? I can't tell.
Do I like the home button on the 6s? Well, I do. And from what I've heard, the Taptic Engine on the 7 isn't anything to write home about.

Everything about the phone says 6s 2. In my view, it's a clone phone.

All signs point this way, a better way in making iPhones. Apart from being more durable, goodbye ugly antenna lines.

Source? Maybe scratch resistant, but I question the shock resistance. That's all we need. iPHone's with shattered bodies.

Thread nominated for "pointless thread of the week".

On the plus side, it's no worse than all of the other threads where people are losing their **** because UPS failed to deliver their precious iP7s on Friday and now have to wait until Monday. First world problems indeed.

Why are people acting like there's an obligation to buy the iPhone 7?

And what's with the response from people who already purchased the device? This thread clearly states it's intended audience.

But yet and still, we have posters like yourself who think it's pointless, even though the point of the thread was clearly and explicitly stated.

It gives the rationale behind why some people don't want this phone.

Why are you acting like there's an obligation not to buy it? You were the one that started the thread telling people to wait on the 8.

Anyone should be able to wrestle with the fact that there are a lot of people who are buying the iPhone 7. But there's a lot of us who aren't!

You posted in a public forum. You are free to express your opinion just as anyone else is free to criticize it for any reason, or no reason at all. Don't get all butt hurt because you got some responses that you didn't want to see.

Frankly, the title of this thread is a little overbearing and presumptuous. I decided to click on this thread to see the expected backlash, and I was not disappointed.

Not at all. They're cheap. The kind of ceramics used here are the same ceramics Corning uses in cookware. They are the same ceramics Corning used in the white iPhone 4/4s and iPhone white 5/5s. (The Apple Watch Edition in ceramic white would have the largest profit margins of any Apple Watch seen to date.)
A ceramic body would be very interesting, and definitely more scratch resistant than malleable metals like aluminum. However, ceramics tend to be less impact resistant than metals.

There are a lot of people who are still perfectly content with their 6 or older models. I wish one of them would have told you not to upgrade to 6S. Nowadays cellphone upgrade is a "want" not a "need" for most people. So just let people be. It's their money.

It's ALWAYS the "next one" that will be the one to get!!! LOL, I've been around Apple too long to ever believe this.
Keep waiting. the iPhone 10 in 2020 will be THE KING of all smartphones!!!!

I waited

And now that I'm reading all about the problems with iPhone 7... I'm really happy I waited.

My iPhone 6S Plus never looked better... :D

I wouldn't be surprised if Apple recycled the 6 design one more time... They can sell any old thing.
what sort of problems?

Trust me, I wanted to keep that 6. But I truly feel like I got a bang for my buck with this iPhone 6s.

Let's face it, 3D Touch didn't really take off until iOS 10 came out. iOS 9 wasn't putting the iPhone 6s processor to good use. This is a sweet spot to be in.

I look for every opportunity I can find not to upgrade if I can help it. And for me, the iPhone 7 seems like the perfect chance to take a break.

#1 I don't like adapters
#2 I DO like my headphone jack.

That's convenience.

And like I said before, I can purchase the expensive AirPods if I like, (well, I mean... after they actually go on sale)

Plus, I still have my home button. The 6s is running iOS 10 very nicely, putting those processors to good use. I feel like I have it all right now.

We will be rewarded!

Be patient. Just one more year. Don't let that dopamine run through your brain and get the best of you.

Don't get the iPhone 7. The wait will be worth it. It always is! Appreciate your headphone jack while you still have it, wait till iOS 10 is polished.

Everything you wanted will be in the next one. Wireless charging, an upgrade from LCD technology. It's coming. But save that money!

If you have the 6s you don't have to upgrade!
I'm waiting… I am purchasing the Airpods so I don't have to look at my archaic 5S.

I'm very likely to purchase the AirPods even though I have a 6s.

The thing about the EarPods is they're prone to breakage. I have a very high replacement rate with them. I've replaced them more than 5 times this year. And already the EarPods I have right now, these are about to go. I'm seeing that the connector on this thing is just about broken.

I do like the AirPods and I can say I will buy them and I think I'll enjoy it. Now, lightning EarPods, no. I need to be able to charge and listen.

Like I'm doing now!

There is no obligation to buy the iPhone 7 or any other product from any company. Get what works best for you. Obviously you think it is better to wait, which is perfectly fine. However, many people disagree and are choosing to buy the iPhone 7.

Get on a lease program and get em all. No need to skip anything. That's no fun.

Well, if we quote Apple's own marketing description of ceramic, "Sleek, light, and extremely durable, ceramic is more than four times as hard as stainless steel — with a pearly, lustrous finish that won’t scratch or tarnish."

That is your opinion, not everyone agrees with it.
Side note, interesting question in your signature, ucfgrad93: "If guns kill people, do pencils misspell words?
I would say pencils aren't designed to misspell words, but guns are designed to kill, that's their intended purpose.

When you've been waiting in line for a week and you don't get anything for doing so, you must seriously, seriously have to rethink what you're doing. A week? Breathe and step back and look at what you're doing.

I can't actively support that.

Exactly like I said. Harder substances are typically easier to shatter because there's less give. It may be more scratch proof, but not impact proof.
