I have an iPhone 6 plus on life-support. I'm not a serial new tech buyer (meaning buying annually), but I have to buy a phone eventually regardless of the brand. I am buying a phone as a tool which will last me few years. Now, if I can't get any phones from any brand (of course user's experience is important), then i guess I don't have a choice and have to wait it out for next year.

Point of the story? Don't worry about next year after next year. Just think about buying it because it will help you someway.

I’m waiting for an iPhone with 16:9 screen, no bezels and most importantly dual SIM. A long wait I know.

I think that a lot of people who give up on getting the X before they even try because of reports of delays are going learn a lesson about not buying into everything they read when they see people walking around with them next month.

It might be hard to get, but there will be millions of them in circulation starting on the 3rd, and everyone here has as good a chance of nabbing one as anyone else, so I don’t get why so many people are saying that there’s no point in trying because they won’t get one until some time next year.
Shhhh. There IS no point in trying for these people. Let's not try and convince them otherwise if you know what I mean.

very few gen 1 products were actually good, so I am for sure waiting on gen 2.

As always, it's usually the second generation of a product that is greatly improved internally more than hardware wise. I think the iPhone X will be a bigger offering next year when they offer two sizes and more color options.

Hi all, I'm in need of a new phone, kinda—I have a cracked iPhone 7, 128GB

I can get an iPhone 8 very cheap right now

But I think the iPhone 8 is boring, I went into an Apple Store and picked it up and was not impressed, it feels the same as my Jet Black 7

With how delayed the iPhone X will be, should I wait until the X2? What I'm thinking is even though the doors will open in November, it'll be delayed until February? Or will production clear up, because the X isn't a perfect phone, and I don't want to buy a phone halfway through its cycle when a new one is a few months away

TL;DR The iPhone X will be delayed until February, and at that point why not wait until the X2?

Plz wait

The X isn’t interesting for me until after WWDC18.

Ok

I guess there will be less shortages on X, Apple took extra time to releases it. Plus its expensive, ppl will exchange them a lot even because of minor cosmetic flaws. They will say we have paid so much and why the quality is not good. There will be lot of in-store fightings. After using for first 10 days i am assuming ppl will return for refund.

I still expect that rumored gold...ish iPhone X to come out as soon as the iPhone X production is able to keep up. Peobably in the speing like the red iPhone 7

Not many of us want to keep the same old phone for more than a year. Getting a new iPhone every year is something special, new and exciting.[/Q]
Speak for yourself. I'm sure the majority of us disagree with YOUR statement.

Actually we should probably get the X(2) in October 2018, give or take a month.

That’s what I’m doing. And I never wait. I always have to have the latest and greatest. This year I went with the 8 plus and will get the new X next year. I do look forward to seeing everyone’s reviews of the X this year. It’s still exciting even though I’m going to wait this one out.

But seriously OP what apple watch took you 9 months to deliver?

I’m guessing that you misunderstood what the OP meant. Sometimes Apple delivers products much earlier than the estimated shipping date you receive when you place your order. So the OP got the Apple Watch quicker, not slower.

This would be a problem for the “order an X, cancel if shipping date is too far ahead” strategy.

I got a shipping date of 30th December for my AirPods. They arrived a few days before Christmas. I think Apple likes to underpromise and over-deliver. Well, in this respect.

Well I had planned on an iPhone X but I had to "adult". It came down to a choice between something the home needs or a new phone.... went with the home.... So congrats, another phone in the pool for this year. I'm now planning to wait for a 2nd gen.

Damn I hate being responsible!!

Yes, this is exactly Apples method of operation when it comes to shipping. They have always been like this where they predict a much later shipping date, but in all likeliness, you may receive it sooner than that depending on when you ordered and the severity of the demand in production.

It’s amazing seeing the excuses people come up with here rather than just admitting they can’t afford it. Nothing wrong with that, it’s a very expensive phone.

But give it a rest with all this Face ID/notch rubbish. You haven’t used it. You’ve read no reviews. You don’t know.
