Wait until iPhone X (2nd Gen)?

That’s what I’m doing. And I never wait. I always have to have the latest and greatest. This year I went with the 8 plus and will get the new X next year. I do look forward to seeing everyone’s reviews of the X this year. It’s still exciting even though I’m going to wait this one out.

Exactly what I would do (although I'm gonna stick it out with my 6s Plus until next year). But if I had to get a phone now, I'd def go 8 Plus.

I want the X but I'll wait until apple makes a battery case for it. If that never happens I'll just get next year's version of the X and go cold turkey off my battery case addiction

If you're planning on definitely upgrading to the X2 next year, then yes an 8 would be a decent interim for the sake of $200. By next year the software ecosystem for the new screen ratio and resolution will be much more mature (most apps will fully take advantage of it) - and there may be a plus model if that appeals to you (though this would negate the updated apps argument somewhat). There's also the possibility of a 'gate' rearing it's ugly head with the completely new design. If there is no price drop next year - which is quite possible if they've decided they want an $1,000 model indefinitely - then demand might be lower, supply higher (due to working out manufacturing issues) and therefore supply more plentiful.
