Hopefully we'll see Broadwell on the notebook side before the end of this year but it's really up in the air right now about whether that happens or if Intel will do a slight bump to Haswell and do a mobile Haswell v2 like they've done on the desktop side.

I bet they'll do full Broadwell sometime between Nov-Feb. Doesn't make sense for it to be any other way.

People always try to analyze with assumptions, while simultaneously ignoring the big picture.

The big picture that they keep delaying a lot of things? Haswell v2 was never intended to happen, that platform was meant to go straight to Broadwell.

And you are analyzing based on assumptions just like everyone else so perhaps check yourself.

can 2014/2015 MBP support fast SSD as the MAC PRO? current 2013 MBP is about 900MB/s - MAC PRO double about 1800MB/s.

is there a limit, at least for now to prevent this speed to come to next MBP?

Annual releases (give or take 4 months). It's why I think Skylake will be delayed as well, because it doesn't make sense with the nature of business and overall product releases for Skylake to only have a 6 month gap.

Where are you seeing 1800MB/s ? When I had a Retina MacBook Pro I got 1GB reads and 800MB/s writes. The Mac Pro gets about 1.25GB read and 1GB/s write on the 1TB SSD.

Just saw this mockup on the Verge, thought I would share it:

Would love to see 4k.

I hate concepts - because they mostly show what everyone wants, and then we don't get, haha.

If no one minds me bringing up some off topic discussion, what do you all think about apple's coloring of the next redesigned rMBP? I'm assuming that if they change the color at all, it will only be to Space Grey. That would suffice very well for the entire MBP line-up because it sort of splits the difference between Slate and Silver (not white). I don't think they'll ever offer two options of colors (silver/bare, and space grey/and-or slate). However I feel like if they were to do a new color then it would be during the next redesign of the rMBP (maybe this year, or next). Thoughts?

I'm not really sure Apple would change the colour of the rMBP, a Space Grey or Black (to match the Mac Pro) redesign would look a bit dark and eerily similar to the beige boxes once ridiculed by Apple.

Hehehe, I found a mockup of a Black and Slate rMBP:

In July last year a benchmark of the MacBook Pro showed up, then in October it was announced.

I dont think the broadwell CPU's will be ready for Apple by July but if we see a benchmark, a new MacBook Pro could be 3-4 months away.

I know that's the Broadwell thread, but we're approaching to the Back To School promotion (it should begin on July) and almost the exactly same number of days are passed since the last update with the old one, in according to the buyer's guide.
It's possible to hope in a speed bump this month end? :)

I doubt the MBP will see a speedbump like the Air.

Intel promised Broadwell after the Back to School period but before the Holidays, so with any luck we will see Broadwell in Sept or Oct. My guess is October, making it a late 2014 model.

This is a minor thing, but I really hope they add HDMI 2.0 to the rMBP. Refresh rates for 4k are pretty bad with HDMI 1.4 (30Hz for 3840 x 2160, 25Hz for 4096 x 2160) and HDMI 2.0 allows for 4k at 60hz.

Well, we may see a speed bump if the Broadwell rMBP is coming out in the first months of 2015, as many user in here suggest.
I really hope the new Broadwell model will be ready for October/November, but there are no many chances unless Intel will provide the chips first for Apple.

Anyway, right now the Apple Store is down…

The articles by numerous websites on the new iMac are a bit misleading as they all forget to mention that the processor can TurboBoost up to 2.7Ghz from the base clock of 1.4Ghz.

Intel promised there will be plenty Broadwell during the holiday season, but indeed you never know. Imo 2015 is too late.

Apple always gets the chips from INTEL at very early stages...
By now the Broadwell has already been tested by apple, and maybe the new boards are in production. The problem could be the limited amount of Chips at this time.

They new Macbook Pro has to became available in day one in high quantities and with 24 hour delivery time

So, price drops to the desktops, nothing for the laptops. Maybe signs of an update coming? Whilst price drops for the models that are going to become long in the tooth?
