By the time Broadwell comes out, Nvidia will shock us all and release their won competing CPU with GPU on a die and take on INtel.

Yeah I did a brief search of NVIDIA's expected implementations for Maxwell yesterday and it appears NVIDIA is attempting to do a couple similar points to which Iris Pro does as well. One of which is being able to siphon system ram if needed/in addition. Another is they're planning on adding a independent CPU unit to the dGPU, which could add an additional 10-15% CPU performance

Also Maxwell is getting more efficient of course. I think it's like 70-80% more efficient (as have most new architecture for them in the past)

tell me were that phlebotinum is coming from, unicorn hair or just good old hidden space?

I remember the promise of kepler against fermi, it wasn't anywhere near the official numbers, maybe they aren't comparing high desktop anymore, but maybe mid range mobile cards, thats the only place it delivered

It is true. We'll just have to wait for Maxwell to be released. Benchmarks almost never lie. Unless you're Samsung, et al. :D

Do you know of any difference between your feb '13 pro vs oct '12 pro?

----------

What was the killer price? Considering oct '12 13" rMBP 128ssd for $1249 refurb. Good deal?

A better deal is what I got for my Daughter through the Amazon Open Box Warehouse deals: 2012 13" rMBP, 2.5/8/256 for $1,150, didn't paid tax. I had 10 cycles in the battery and was registered in March 2013, so the warranty lasted until March 2014 ! (Already extended to march 2016 with Applecare)

I just check and they still have the machines, but price now is $1275 (still a good deal):

wrong. Fermi was one of the biggest setbacks in history for nvidia. loud, hot and obnoxious. Look around - kepler graphics + ivy bridge has been blessed, says all reviews. great gains at reduced negative side effects. that was the thing about Kepler that is great.

for notebooks, for desktops the 580 against the 680 was something not resembling at all the performance gains promised.

anyway

broadwell seems scheduled for a q3 or late release, lets hope they can actually deliver the cpus as promised not just a paper launch

I wonder how much time will it take for this thread to start getting a lot of attention after this week event; got the feeling only a minor update might be announced on the Retina line this week based on the feb 2013 update to the rMBP line and so the hopes of people for IGZO screen, TB2 and other will be on the 3rd generation!

If so, welcome aboard! :D

Count me in this thread. I got tired of waiting for haswell rmbp so i bought the 2013 Macbook Air. Planning to give this MBA to my brother next year, then buy the broadwell macbook pro for myself.

Anyway, hoping for a quad core 13 inch.

Greetings! Since today's update was so crappy for 15" users like myself, I suppose I'll join this train. Choo-choo!
