Wouldn't people ordering like that get what they ordered? I think Apple would still ship you the current rMBP.

It's in Apple's best interest to just ship the updated rMBPs. Apple would update the rMBP just two or three days later and you can see how that would piss some people off if they received the old rMBPs. It would also save Apple the hassle of restocking the opened rMBPs.

They will update them when Thunderbolt 2 is out. Hence Pro in the name. Only a guess, but a logical guess. Probably October like the 13" Retina. If earlier and no Thunderbolt 2 I would be shocked more. Also Samsung has yet to produce 768GB PCI-E SSD. They only offer upto 512 GB. Then, I believe the stars will align and everyone will be happy until Janurary 1, 2014.

I would imagine they would release an update for early 2014 with thunderbolt 2. There are barely any thunderbolt device now. They aren't going to let the pro line be stagnet like the did with the Mac Pro because the demand for the Mac Pro isn't as great as the mbp

They come in 5-packs. So they're coming in 56 boxes.

I could imagine you wearing santa claus costume, and like HO HO HO ... Macbook airs coming

Yeah that's definitely interesting. The official release date has to be so close that whoever ordered would get the new Haswell rMBPs instead, so the delay makes sense. I still see 1-2 business days for rMBP shipping though.

It could be they didn't want to ring any bells, so even though they state 1-2 days, they'll send another email informing the customer that there are delays.

I should say i'm pretty amazed by Apple's transition from old to new products.
it makes sense to start manufacture, as late as possible before launch.

after all there are still resellers everywhere and their orders on rMBPs orders as well, any orders that are not fulfilled due to limited stocks would be considered as lost sales.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that that's a logical guess? Delaying the entire product launch -- and therefore losing Q4 revenues -- for a feature that only a fraction of users care about makes no sense at all.

If they're not announced/released next week I'm caving into buying an early 2013 model. I can't resist, I had to go to the Apple store today just to touch one... AHHHHH. :D

Same here, the store section is down on apple.com, nothing else. If they were in the process of updating the website with new products such as the rMBP, I would think you would not be able to access the "Mac" portion of the website, but could be wrong. Apple working on a Saturday?? That would be some serious overtime, if that were the case.

well, it is not necessary to bring down the whole website to change static content.

hint: you can swap old webpages with new one in matter of seconds, add a few seconds for pages to hit cache server, the rest of the world in 1-2 minutes.

Do they usually have maintenance in the days leading to a new product release?
