Hasn't this always been the tagline for the Mac Mini??

Yes, that has been the same tagline since the Mac Mini was introduced on October 23, 2012. Same goes for that 13 inch Retina MacBook Pro image. It also has had the same tagline since it was introduced on October 23, 2012.

Honestly, I think the odds of new ones coming out on Wednesday are quite slim.

Based on what?

There has not been one article saying...

"Apple to refresh MacBook Pro July 24"

Also, I did a check, every Apple retail store near me had them in stock.

And, the leaked benchmarks show them running unreleased OS X Mavericks. Mavericks won't be out until at least September, and in order for it to be a good sign, we would want to see one of these leaked benchmarks showing them running the current OS X Mountain Lion but none of them do.

All of that means nothing. Besides, there were tons of rumors out early-June saying we would see the rMBP late-July.

None of that makes the chance for a release on Wednesday slim.

I don't know. But that's what I'm thinking. Why would Apple put up new taglines before releasing a new update?

Either way, neither of those products are currently featured in the Apple Store app (at least for me).

Does anyone know if there are usually "New" stickers in the app for the featured section? I'm not seeing any for Time Capsule or the Airport Extreme, though they don't appear on the Apple Store website either.

We could see Mavericks in August, if this unsourced tweet is to be believed. (If someone can find that original tweet being referenced, that would be awesome!)

The way people here cling on to any tiny thing that might point towards an imminent release is a bit sad.

If you didn't dig through the whole internet everyday to find a bit of hope and just waited normally then it wont feel like you've been waiting that long. Some people need a break from this website.

Pretty hilarious sometimes. My personal favourite is when one random guy gets his order delayed and everyone else loses their minds lol.

Hey it's fun!

(I upvoted you anyway ;) )

Interesting. It wouldn't surprise me at all. Mavericks DP3 has been running great for me. Even shuts down quickly ;) And like someone who responded to the message said, it would allow Apple to focus more on iOS 7. Though Apple would have to push a 10.9.1 update pretty quickly because issues will come up. They always do.

BestBuy Canada has listed two "New" MacBook Pro models. Could this glitch point to an imminent release?

That is a glitch. Md102ll/a is the current 13 inch non retina MacBook Pro $1499 model. The $1899 model on there is a $1699 13 inch retina MacBook Pro configured with the 3.0hhz processor which costs $200 at the time of purchase.

Md662ll/a is also the model number for the current $1699 13 inch retina MacBook Pro.

Honestly, those Maverick builds are running pretty smoothly, I think better than expected. So is iOS 7, they just may be ahead of schedule.

Is the Developer Portal still down?

It shows for one of them that only 2 are remaining in stock, so these are the current models

Yeah the developer portal is still down, the specilations in this thread are quality though, keep them coming!

Hmmmmm...interesting, I wonder why they would shut it down over the weekend, while feverishly trying to get Mavericks and iOS 7 to the forefront.

Yeah it is a bit counterproductive, still there could be a myriad of technical reasons for shutting it down. Shutting it down on the weekend isn't too bad either, shutting on weekdays however would be weird.

I will be a very happy man if Apple decides to do a stealth update during their third quarterly call on July 23rd - it would allow me to take advantage of BTS.

Otherwise, I will continue to lurk these forums for more false hope.

It seems more that they were forced to shut it down (for more than three days already) - "maintenance" for the dev center has never lasted this long. Guessing that major issues are at fault - e.g. huge data loss or security problems.

How did you arrive at the conclusion that that's a logical guess? Delaying the entire product launch -- and therefore losing Q4 revenues -- for a feature that only a fraction of users care about makes no sense at all.

They released the iMacs as soon as they got decent numbers from the friction stir welding. Even though Tim said he should've delayed. They lost Q4 revenues.

Why release a Retina and then have Thunderbolt 2 come a month later? Apple does what they want. They will wait until they do it right. First announcement was June this year. It's been a while since they waited that long between announcements. They are rarely in a hurry to release products.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the MacBook Pro with Retina Display would benefit from Thunderbolt II. Even with a PCIe SSD (maxes out at ~800 MB/s) the rMBP wouldn't be able to saturate a Thunderbolt I connection. I don't know how 4K video plays into all of that. I'd love to be able to say I have a Thunderbolt II laptop, but I doubt it would make any difference.

I really need a new computer as my old one died. The one I'm sitting on now is 8 years old, Windows XP.

If no new on wednesday, I'll buy the current one.

It's a meaningless feature to most users, and this is a company that all of a sudden is way more concerned with its stock price than with releasing the perfect product. Respectfully, if there is a delay and Thunderbolt 2 is included, that will simply be a side benefit, not a cause.

This definitely could be a clue about a refresh for the rMPB and the mini. Or it could just be new marketing material for the new store app. The Kremlinology continues ;) We'll know in a few days.

EDIT:

This is on the Apple online store now. Same as on the leaked pic of the new store app:

That's the graphic from the 2012 Mac Mini when it was updated from an dual to quad core CPUs and got USB 3.0 ports. It's not a new graphic for a system twice as fast as the current model. it IS the current model!

I believe another major advantage to Thunderbolt 2 would be that it can drive a 4K display whereas the current Thunderbolt cannot.

Would that necessitate a dGPU? Would the Iris be able to handle the retina and 4K at the same time while doing graphically-taxing tasks?
