Hey guys,

i have just created my account on MacRumors because it seems that we will see an update of the rMBP in September and that won't take ages..

I think we/you should not discuss when the update will come, but rather what the update will look like.

So I would like to ask you (just your opinions of course):
What specs will the new rMBP have?

I think you agree that this is a very interesting question, so post your ideas or hopes (in the following way) please :) (you can easily use this as a template)

13-inch:
Base-Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx

13-inch:
Higher Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx

15-inch:
Base-Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx
Graphics: xxxx (if dGPU)

15-inch:
Higher Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx
Graphics: xxxx (if dGPU)

I think the processor is the most interesting one. I myself think that the 15-inch model unfortunately will get a CPU with IRIS PRO..(and no dGPU). But which one (what clock rates)?

Deja vu -- it's like the last 5500 posts didn't exist! :D

As a new member, I think you should read and learn from elder members...;) Come back after you read the 212 pages of this thread... :D

Haha yeah, that's what part of this thread is about. We have been discussing what the update will contain.

I have read about 4000 posts so here I am. :D

I followed the thread for a very long time and read all new posts everyday.

It was just the idea to sum up all different views...although this idea is not new and everyone already posted his opinion, there is not THE ONE RIGHT OPINION (just apple knows  ). There are some big differences between your opinions/hopes.

Oh ok,
so everything is clear?!

Fine. So you want to tell me that it is "fact" that these 3 CPUs (47W) will definitely be the ones for the new MacBooks?
Why didn't you tell us before...this thread is soo long and unnecessary.

I thank you for the link! But I can see more options than the i7 (with IRIS PRO) sorry..thats your opinion and you reasoned it...nothing more. Or is it everyone's opinion? I have read different ones here

Because that's the purpose of it... ;)

There are only 140 pages for me - you can set the number of posts per page under Thread Options in your user profile. On a thread like this, it makes all the difference!

Damn, this thread is still going. Feels surreal.

It's pretty cool. I heard from my sister's hairdresser's boyfriend that Tim Cook will release the updates when this thread reaches 10,000 posts.

I really can't see Apple announcing the iPads in September too.

They'd had to ship them with iOS 7, and it's far from done on iPad.

IF they announce both iPad and iPhone in September, I cannot see much space for Macbooks in the event.

But rMBP's, Mac Pro and Mavericks won't take up even 1 hour. When releasing new hardware, they usually just announce the specs; there is no reason to show off OSX on the updated rMBPs etc. So I still think we will see Mac and Mavericks announcements with another product.

If Apple doesn't release rMBP on Sept 10th... my head will explode.

Well, I recommend everyone stand back then.

It's not likely we'll see new MacBook Pros in September, given that the supply chain is only now ramping up and that we're not seeing any shortages of the current line of MBPs yet. November is more likely, though October remains a possibility.

I heard from MacRumors themselves that they will give a free Haswell MacBook Pro to all participants of this thread, if and only if, we reach 10,000 posts.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Tim Cook at 31 Flavors last night. No MBPs on 09/10. I guess it's pretty serious.

Bloomberg thinks the iPad is up for announcement Sept 10.. I guess that means we're all screwed right? :D

I've been visiting this site for a number of years now (before buying my iMac in 2011).
I've decided to sell my 2011 iMac and purchase a rMBP (Love my iMac but it's purpose has been and gone). Just wondering whether or not I should "Wait for Haswell" or not? I'm not COMPLETELY bothered about the specs, for me its a monetary issue; will the current models drop substantially? Similarly, I'm concerned about re-sell value, both on my current iMac and my future purchase. If I wait, my iMac value could decrease? But then I could wait and potentially get an extra refresh cycle out of my new purchase.

Any advice would be great? If this is an okay place to post this?

Also- I get student discount.

Thanks

I would only worry about resale value if the machine was maybe a year old or so. After that, value just goes down no matter what. My 2008 imac is sitting at about $400 in value and once the new imac is released I'm not worried about it going down.. it's just gonna happen anyway.

If you can sell the imac now and buy the new rMBP in a few weeks, that's what I'd do.

I'm in; here's my contribution

I'd be happy to just get to 6000 posts.. Macrumors gives us $10 iTunes cards
