I would only worry about resale value if the machine was maybe a year old or so. After that, value just goes down no matter what. My 2008 imac is sitting at about $400 in value and once the new imac is released I'm not worried about it going down.. it's just gonna happen anyway.

If you can sell the imac now and buy the new rMBP in a few weeks, that's what I'd do.

Hmmm yeah I guess thanks :)

Haha, A few weeks or a few months? Not sure how long I can go without for.

If no announcement of 13" haswell (c/r)MBP on Sep 10th, then I will get a 13" MBA and start building my i7-4930k 6-core or quad core i7-4820K custom hackintosh pro workstation... :D

Hey guys,

i have just created my account on MacRumors because it seems that we will see an update of the rMBP in September and that won't take ages..

I think we/you should not discuss when the update will come, but rather what the update will look like.

So I would like to ask you (just your opinions of course):
What specs will the new rMBP have?

I think you agree that this is a very interesting question, so post your ideas or hopes (in the following way) please :) (you can easily use this as a template)

13-inch:
Base-Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx

13-inch:
Higher Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx

15-inch:
Base-Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx
Graphics: xxxx (if dGPU)

15-inch:
Higher Config
CPU: xxxx
RAM: xxxx
SSD: xxxx
Graphics: xxxx (if dGPU)

I think the processor is the most interesting one. I myself think that the 15-inch model unfortunately will get a CPU with IRIS PRO..(and no dGPU). But which one (what clock rates)?

Why hello there Mr. Holmes. Your mystery awaits!

So now that we know the iPads will not be included on Sept. 10..

How possible is an iPhone-only event?

An event for announcing a cheap components and plastic case IP5C and a expensive IP5S with a fingerprint sensor and with the same size as IP4S... I'd give 1% probability...

By the way, what does stand for the "C" in IP5C? Cook??...

what the?

If the new haswell model doesn't come with the dedicated gpu, then you can bet your ass I'm not gonna buy this laptop. No laptop is worth over 2 grand with a missing d-gpu.

I'm a noob and I have a question.

can we have 1 SSD and 1 HDD on the 15'' rMBP or we can only do that on the 15'' cMBP??

Theoretically, you could have an unlimited number of HDDs and SSDs on the rMBP... :D. Practically you could only one SSD in the rMBP... :D

Ya better start surfing for winboxes -- Apple's been marching in that direction for a while now.

The only question in my mind is whether they think the Iris Pro 5200 igpu is strong enough now, or whether they go all igpu with Broadwell. From what I've gathered from all the pundits, no one has pushed Intel harder to improve igpu performance than Apple.

One way or the other, it's gonna happen -- too many packaging/thermal reasons to not to do so if they can get acceptable performance (which the 5200 is pretty close to doing, it appears).

September 10 is beginning to look very promising for rMBPs. It makes sense to spread the Mac updates (iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, rMBP) over 2 events.

iPhone and rMBPs - sept.
iPad and Mac Pros - oct.

You could then have the other updates as silent to appear online after either one of the events. Fingers crossed!

(I realise that many others have predicted this, I just wanted to reiterate).

So if the hd5200 was as powerful as a gt780m you still wouldn't get it?
Pretty ridiculous statement

If the Iris Pro is what Intel claims it is they may hit a point that puts them at a respectable range with nVidia and AMD or possibly even match it as we get into Skylake range.

I kind of agree though that I wouldn't pay $2k for a laptop without a discrete GPU, but perhaps Apple will surprise us.

This is looking more and more likely. I really hope this is what happens. My wallet is ready.

HD5200 integrated is not a dedicated graphics card. No matter hpw much apple wants to twist their tongue. Integrated will never be good as Dedicated graphics card. This is a fact of life.

LMFAO. you wish it was powerful as much as 780m.

Blind fanboysm leads to delusion, I see.
