were are the quad cores?? all of them are 2/4
so after a lot of reading today across many sites about Haswell and after following the launch, i have done a simple comparison on intel site for the possible proc for rMBP 13" ,, i have been waiting 2 months for this, and i can see now the max it can get re IGP is the HD4600, so 10%~15% boost in processor with a very good possibility of quad core on rMPB 13" and about 20% performance boost on iGPU. i can see this is a decent upgrade for the 13" if the thinner form factor rumor is true.

And the fact Apple didn't use them last year doesn't mean they won't this year. The existence of a Haswell quad core 37W chip doesn't mean Apple will use it.
Ivy Bridge had a few quad core 35W chips - Apple never used them.

Unlikely they will though, they like to differentiate the 13" to the 15".
I know the recent rumours suggest that the 15" rMBP will not be updated at WWDC, but what is the feeling around here?

I for one have been holding out for a 15" rMBP and would love to get my hands on an updated model next week.
My take on it is that Apple has two broad options for the 15":
1. Update them with the 4700, 4800 and 4900 processors. These match the current generation of rMBP processors in frequency, but only provide 4600 graphics. The processors are available now.
2. Update them with the 4750, 4850 and 4950 processors. These are 0.4GHz slower at non-turbo speeds than 4x00 series, support Iris Pro 5200, but won't be available till Q3
If Apple goes with 1, expect an announcement at WWDC.
Yes it is confirmed. No macbook upgrade, a special event will be hold in 7th August with all the line up, included Mac Pro that will have the new Xeon processors.
At WWDC we will have iOS7 and Macos 10.9 with improved graphic drivers, and the presentation for iRadio is done but they will announce it ONLY if they manage Sony into this.
That makes 3 Melbournians (including Ohbrilliance) on the same page!BTW, I'm also from Melbourne.
It works the other way. You can use TB devices on a TB2 port but not TB2 devices on a TB port. You only get 20 Gbps with a TB2 wire on a TB2 controller. Can someone help me understand this one? Does this mean TB2 will be functional on current Apple products with TB?
Because the next-generation protocol is, in essence, a modified controller chip, Thunderbolt 2 requires no new cables or accessory hardware, meaning it will be completely backward compatible with existing Thunderbolt products.

Got it! TY! So Im wondering if Apple will hold off on updating their Mac line until TB2 is released![]()
I'm hoping they go with option 1 and throw in a discrete GT750/760m.

What are the chances that all 3 of us end up at the Doncaster Apple Store on June 11th![]()
