were are the quad cores?? all of them are 2/4

we had the quads on saturday, at least part of it, much like we had part of the ULV line up today, and thats what I posted

and there is no reason for the rmbp to not be updated, even the ulvs are getting out right now
so after a lot of reading today across many sites about Haswell and after following the launch, i have done a simple comparison on intel site for the possible proc for rMBP 13" ,, i have been waiting 2 months for this, and i can see now the max it can get re IGP is the HD4600, so 10%~15% boost in processor with a very good possibility of quad core on rMPB 13" and about 20% performance boost on iGPU. i can see this is a decent upgrade for the 13" if the thinner form factor rumor is true.

check it out, i like the i7-4702MQ very nice :)

now you just remove the U cpus and the desktop cpus that you put in there, and add the new M dual cores that were revealed today, so you got the 47w, 37w quads and duals competing with each other

Unlikely they will though, they like to differentiate the 13" to the 15".

Agree. It's not all technical limitations/reasons why we don't see certain specs in certain products. It's a fair bit of product differentiation as well, unfortunately.

I know the recent rumours suggest that the 15" rMBP will not be updated at WWDC, but what is the feeling around here?

I for one have been holding out for a 15" rMBP and would love to get my hands on an updated model next week.

My take on it is that Apple has two broad options for the 15":

1. Update them with the 4700, 4800 and 4900 processors. These match the current generation of rMBP processors in frequency, but only provide 4600 graphics. The processors are available now.

2. Update them with the 4750, 4850 and 4950 processors. These are 0.4GHz slower at non-turbo speeds than 4x00 series, support Iris Pro 5200, but won't be available till Q3

If Apple goes with 1, expect an announcement at WWDC.

I'm hoping they go with option 1 and throw in a discrete GT750/760m.

And I'm sure the HD4600 will adequately handle GUI animations (Mission Control, Launchpad etc.) at retina resolutions...surely?

BTW, I'm also from Melbourne.

It's quarter 3 at the end of this month anyway and suppliers are likely to have had them
From intel already

Yes it is confirmed. No macbook upgrade, a special event will be hold in 7th August with all the line up, included Mac Pro that will have the new Xeon processors.

At WWDC we will have iOS7 and Macos 10.9 with improved graphic drivers, and the presentation for iRadio is done but they will announce it ONLY if they manage Sony into this.

yeah right .... where's the source dude

I think the minimum will be CPU upgrade, this is worst case scenario, the maximum will be screen res, weight, battery, CPU/GPU, SSD size and price.

More likely CPU/GPU update with SSD update for same price.

Ideal would be CPU/GPU/SSD size and price cut.

In my opinion

What GPU you guys think they put in 13" Macbook Pro? Iris Pro 5200 will be limited to quad core models.. (and 13" model have previously only had dual core) so we propably wont se that in 13" model.. But Iris 5100 or only HD Graphics 5000

I don't know man but I think after other companies released there stuff, we can just expect an HD4400 in the MBAs and HD4600 in rMBP :(

Can someone help me understand this one? Does this mean TB2 will be functional on current Apple products with TB?

Because the next-generation protocol is, in essence, a modified controller chip, Thunderbolt 2 requires no new cables or accessory hardware, meaning it will be completely backward compatible with existing Thunderbolt products.

It works the other way. You can use TB devices on a TB2 port but not TB2 devices on a TB port. You only get 20 Gbps with a TB2 wire on a TB2 controller.

Got it! TY! So Im wondering if Apple will hold off on updating their Mac line until TB2 is released :(

For the 15", I agree with this. If they used a chip with 5200 graphics, then I don't see them adding discrete graphics. Would rather have discrete graphics kicking in when needed; GTX780M option would be great..

I'm going to be very disappointed if Apple does not at least announce MBPr 15" road-map at WWDC. Doesn't have to be released immediately, but at least let us know what is coming.
