So dell gets IGZO into it's product lines before Apple? Just have a hard time swallowing that...

Why? There's been plenty of tech that Apple isn't first to "get" or even use.

Why? Apple hasn't necessarily been one to adopt technology as soon as it's competition. Besides >1080p resolution, I'll give you that.

jinks  :D

also apple is extremely conservative with their product offerings. If they sense that IGZO displays is not ready for prime time, they won't put it in their product.

It's not that Apple won't take any risks, they will only add features that they deem necessary no matter how minuscule the improvements may be.

Necessary and minuscule? Hmm.. not sure that's the best way to describe their feature selection criteria. :)

It is necessary that we remain with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It is a minuscule fact that we could increase battery life by 90% with this display panel...

Wait what :D

How can you go from Mac to Windows?

I know I couldn't very easily even though I grew up with Windows since 95. Even if I get a less expensive PC, I still have to buy Office and an antivirus. And the quality of laptop I prefer is around $900+, so I don't save much money going back to Windows.

Bill Gates thought he had the kids of the 90s in his clutches. But Steve Jobs gave us the iPod and the iPhone ;)

Fingerprint on rmbp (Maybe saphire on/off Key)? what u think about it?

if they would use that technology in the whole product-lineup....Would make sense to me

Speak of the devil

9to5 talks about displays on future apple products http://9to5mac.com/2013/10/03/repor...ely-display-changes-for-future-apple-devices/

So another iPad to further cannibalize the laptop line. :( I swear, this is an intentional kill-off and soon there will be nothing left with a keyboard except MBAirs.

But those kids in the 90's grew up and got jobs in the enterprise market. They took windows with them. :D

I think a 13-inch iPad would serve a different market than the current full-sized iPad does. But I can't see Macs going anywhere.

It will be a sad day if the rest of the Mac line is killed off. iOS has to come a long way before it will be my sole OS.

Maybe older kids of the 90s. College campuses are flooded with MacBooks and iPads owned by kids born in 91-95ish.

Are you serious?

At the time I didn't pay it no mind. Now, I'm not so sure.

They are already going somewhere... down in sales like the rest of the notebooks in the industry.

The difference with the Mac isn't just having a physical keyboard available, it's having a full-fledged desktop OS. iPads are great and all, and fit their purpose, but many of us on here have actual work to do. And for that we need a desktop OS.

Agreed. I'm not a developer or a designer, but it'd be a royal pain to research and write college papers on an iPad. It just can't support the multitasking that OS X can.

A 13" iPad is going to be incredibly niche. You can't use it with one hand ;)

That's what I keep trying to ask people on here. Some people on here seem to just be able to flip-flop OSes at any given moment. I wouldn't be able to use anything other than Mac OS X.

Even if something wild happened like Apple skipping the Haswell rMBP, I'd still stick with Macs.

Very easily actually. I generally have a MacBook as my primary use computer and a secondary Sony VAIO currently running Windows 8. I keep all my files stored in Dropbox/SkyDrive so they stay synced across both devices. And the majority of my daily productivity apps are cross platform, so no harm done there. I am able to pick up one or the other and not have it affect me majorly. Of course there are some apps that are OS exclusive and don't have adequate alternatives on the other, but for my main use stuff I'm covered. I like having both around so I can use each OS where it excels compared to the other. At this point it becomes a matter of which hardware I want. Currently (and for the past few year), Apple hardware has been my preference. But PC hardware is really improving and I could see myself switching if there's a must have feature available on an alternative.

If you mean an OS with a file system. Yes. You are preaching to the choir my friend.

But I can see Apple's notebook offerings being slimmed down to the consumer level on par with what the MBA's deliver. Also, keeping a high-end (and high-priced) Mac Pro around. One extreme and the other - no more middle ground. OSX will still be around to write iOS apps with though.

Keep in mind I predicted that putting water in plastic bottles then selling it for $1.19 would flop. I also said that the internet was just a passing fad. :D

Exactly. I don't do anything heavy like video editing or stuff like that, but I'm a writer and do lots of that. Sure I could write on the iPad, but my requirements are more than that. I multitask, use different fonts, use programs that aren't available on iOS, etc.

You can't exactly jump from program to program on iOS. A desktop OS is what a lot of us need.

Even so, that would be at least 5-6 years down the road. Apple is not going to be dropping the MacBook Pro line after investing so much into it last year.

I don't think he's right, either. I'm old enough to remember when macs were awful, and then turned around to what they are now. I see tons of people my age with MacBooks. I was born in 1990, by the way. Not sure if that makes me a 90's kid or not.

91, and I consider myself a 90s kid ;). My philosophy is if you can remember at least half of the decade.

Also born in 1990. I remember when all you would see in coffee shops for much of the 2000's were Macs. This is still true, but now you see iPhones and iPads all over the place as well.

I actually really miss that era, when all people had were a laptop and a basic phone.
