Can I get points for being right on this one? :) Just $100 off on that base model.

You do get points. :)

However, it's still $200 off the high end one (with the 750M), which I just ordered.

$2399: 16GB/512GB/750MGPU. Pretty good deal I think. Arriving October 29. :(

More waiting begins.

Well it's been a great ride everyone. I will keep this laptop for the next 5 years if not more, just like my current 2008 Macbook Pro which I'm still using at the moment.

Yeah I don't know if asking people to wait longer here will work bud. Apple has given me no beef when I've returned and exchanged machines in the past as recently as this year so I'm not worried one bit.

Did you do within allowance returning window? I went through couple of them last year. I hate to deal with image retention. You should go look at Apple burn in thread in Apple community. It is growing as time goes by and problem is on the surface right now after one year.

Wow, if I'm reading their website right, you HAVE to upgrade to the top-spec Retina 15 to get discrete graphics now? That's ridiculous

I was just about to buy the base 15 when I caught this too and went..wait what?! Now I don't know if I want the base 15..

TELL ME PLEASE.

2TB Time Capsule or 3TB? Is it worth the extra $100?

Also, should I get the Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter and mini display from Apple or elsewhere?

no it's not, there s a usb 3 port on it so you can always add another hard drive

guys you can upgrade the cpu on the base, and you do NOT get a free gpu

is the 2.3 ghz upgrade good for 89 euros?

SO happy it is here at last after 8 months of waiting for my first Apple machine..

got to decide on the configuration now..
I know I want the 13" with 16 GB RAM..and 512 Gb SSD..what I don't know is which processor to get..
Choice of
2.4GHz i5
2.6GHz i5
2.8GHz i7

I mainly want it for fairly heavy Photo editing..is it worth getting the i7?..what will be the noticeable difference between them?

Also want it to be as future proof as possible..

Hope for answers as am confused as to which to get..
Cheers guys

Just downloaded Mavericks OS X for my laptop +1 hr battery life :D
and.. I am going to buy the NEW Mac Pro during Q2 of next year hopefully when Seiki or another brand releases an updated 4k Monitor for under $1000 that I can couple with my new desktop.

I am wondering about the future of the Thunderbolt display and if Apple is done making monitors.

Did he say Crystalwell processor on the 15 inch? Is it significantly better than the processor in the 13? Want the 13" really as the 15 just seems a bit too big.

Specs wise, I think I'll go i7, 256GB, 8GB RAM. Surprised to see the 4GB, 128GB option. IMO from the models with no upgrades, the £1249 one is a steal when compared to the specs of the £1099.

needlessly expensive for no gain, though. Never going to max out integrated graphics with 4600, let alone with iris pro, with their super conservative use of dedicated graphics.

Well, there were claims that the Iris Pro's OpenCL performance was 30-40% in some instances than the 650M (which probably extends to a lesser extent to the 750M), so this is a means of giving the MBP the "best of both worlds" in terms of OpenCL and OpenGL.

Nonetheless, I'm as surprised as anyone to see Apple went with this configuration rather than choosing a less power-hungry iGPU + dGPU combo to save money and potentially yield slightly better battery performance.

Ok I'm eating my words about the 13". It's now more reasonably priced. The "middle" option I bet will be the most popular one: i5/4gb/256 SSD at $1499. Apple no longer charging an arm and a leg for an extra 128 GB of flash storage I guess.

Crystalwell = Haswell + 128MB L4 eDRAM on package. Currently, Intel only ships Crystalwell with Iris Pro (and all new 15' rMBPs have that).

Yes. It is the Crystalwell.

I am wondering about the future of the Thunderbolt display and if Apple is done making monitors.

Even if Apple released a 4k Thunderbolt monitor I would doubtfully be able to afford, however, if it is less than or equal to $1299 I might consider it. I am now waiting for Haswell MBP's with 4K IGZO displays because I am soon making the jump to 4K filming/cinema by 2014.

Guys, you should wait a bit. After couple of months last year, Apple released more option to configure your CPU. It was like 100$ for 2.6 Ghz last year. And fastest CPU added later. I was like damn you, Apple.

Identical problem... please help.

Yup, looks like that's how they lowered the price on the 15inch.

The top-end 15 is the better deal now, especially with the 16gb RAM and 512gb SSD.

That's still pretty messed up though. Come on Apple.

If I select the base MacBook Pro in my store (Germany) and bring it on par with the high-end version (the one with explicit dGPU label) by selecting a 2,3Ghz CPU, 512GB storage and 16GB ram, the resulting price is exactly the same as the price of the high-end version.

Screenshots from another user: https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/18190163/

I'm sorry, but this image is still not a proof. It becomes then a proof, when it's written black on white that the 750m is included.

Now the thing is, I want to believe you, but why should Apple make 2 different sections for the MBP 15", if everything could be customized within the same section with radio buttons?

And another thing: people would be stupid if they would buy the 2.0Ghz version with a worse GPU just for the sake of 100$.

Which brings me to the next point: if the 750m is really included, we don't know how many dedicated RAM this GPU has. 512? 1 GB 2GB? Something stinks here.

guys you can upgrade the cpu on the base, and you do NOT get a free gpu?

How do we then explain that the prices of both models are exactly the same if we bring them on par in every other aspect (512GB storage, 16GB RAM)? That wouldn't make any sense at all. In that case, Apple would sell a worse configuration for the same price.

In addition, I directly selected the high-end version (with the 750m label) and I didn't get an explicit mention of the 750m in my order, as did nobody else judging from all the screenshots.

I think Apple screwed up the specs page.

16GB RAM or 512GB SSD

Fantastic news. Haswell and great price drops.
So I am getting rMBP 13" and have budget for either 512GB SSD with 8GB of RAM, or 256GB SSD with 16GB of RAM.

I will definitely need to use dual boot with Win 7 with Visual Studio and Outlook for Exchange for my work so the larger SSD seems like a better option, but I definitely love to have 16GB of RAM as well - running Mountain Lion with Xcode, Outlook, some other apps and occasionally Win7 in Parallels as well and I easily fill 10GB of RAM or more.

I love speed so 16GB RAM attracts me, but I am afraid Win 7 dual boot on 256GB SSD is just not going to be enough. I have to do some research how much I can fit in this capacity and how much each OS takes, but any advice is greatly appreciated! Thanks guys.
