For those with the new 13" Haswell rMBP, which is 4mm lower, with protective cases, which one are you using? I wonder how does the Speck seethru case of my 2012 13"rMBP will fit to the new Haswell model I just purchased; have not seen yet Speck, Incase or Moshi cases re-design for the new Haswell model yet.

I have an early 2013 retina speck see thru satin on my late 2013. Fits absolutely fine.

Finally got mine late last week!

I have been looking forward to this for a while now, upgraded from the Macbook Air 2010 model.

Love the machine, and is probably the best Apple laptop I have owned. The only thing I miss about the Air really is the wedge shape because that was easier to type on.

Other than that, simply awesome. The battery life is really nice.

For now I am leaving it as the Air's resolution, 1440x900...that was one of the best things about the Air...shame that is not the native res, but everything still looks great...don't see much lag. Nothing that would prevent me from keeping it in this resolution.

I have had my rMBP for some weeks now, and all I can say is that it is the best Mac I have ever owned!

Really enjoying this 15" MBP. Best screen I have ever seen, and it's just lightning fast. One of my friends has a 2012 15" rMBP, and the fans spin up just by watching a movie on Youtube. Mine is just dead silent, even while playing some games.

Hope this one will last me several years. I have just activated AppleCare that I got at a bargain for $55 USD.

How did you get AppleCare that cheap!?

A local store had it listed at a wrong price when I bought my new TV, so I took it, and at the checkout they noticed, but they eventually gave it to me at the listed price, even though they knew it was very cheap. Probably because I also bought an expensive TV :D Kind of a scoop!

Next time buy a few for resale :D:D:D

Seems as if everyone's happy with their new rmbps. I wonder how large the waiting for Broadwell thread will become?

I think the waiting for the Haswell rMBP was very different from a typical release. While I don't doubt that people are excited about the next revision, a mega-thread like you saw with Haswell doesn't happen every year.

That's a nice score. I doubt they would make that kind of mistake at one of the bigger and greedier retailers.

picked up 15 in rmbp from Best Buy. fairly uniform warm tint. whites were definitely not very white. also compared to a family member's 2012 15 in retina, my 2008 macbook, my lg g2, and the screen was the 'yellow'ist and tied for the dimmest. slight light bleed around edges. Serial G (first Best buy claimed they didnt have anything later).

went to a different best buy to exchange. They gave me a a serial J laptop, insisting that it had come in today. I explained the screen situation/how i like my chances better with P and Q, etc. to no avail. Got home, opened the computer and it's much yellower than the first.

will go back to and try to exchange again.

What's the difference between serial numbers?

I got my 13" rMBP the day after release, and it looks just fine. Could be a little brighter, but it could also be a lot worse. Also no backlight bleeding at all. You take your chances with all models, and I'm glad mine looks good.

How is it? How's the performance?

Not bad. My uses aren't too heavy and it's better than my old mid-2009 MBP. I didn't check activity monitor last week when I was doing my heaviest work (school work with dozens of browser tabs across several windows and Word open), but it seemed to do well.

I did post elsewhere that Adobe reader was blurry and laggy, so I've switched to Preview which isn't either of those.

There seem to be very few people with 13" screen problems. And apparently the screens are brighter this time around. Can't wait for my waiting to be over, I just want the dang thing.

Any suggestions for a good PDF reader? I work with so many PDFs. I've heard that Adobe is slow on a Mac in general. Not familiar with Preview, but I will give it a look.

adobe slow on Mac? where did you hear that and in what context?

May I ask for everyone's opinion, i am buying a rmbp 13"

just not sure if i should go for the

2.4ghz, 16gb RAM 256 Flash drive

or should I go for

2.6ghz, 8Gb RAM, 512 flash drive

should I consider bigger RAM or bigger flash drive? what do you guys thinks?

I would use it for video watching, web surfing, window w parallel ( MS Office, etc) photos,

i was set on buying the latter till i started reading about the advise in the forum , and thinking perhaps I should consider buying the 16GB Ram ?

thank you

In my opinion go for the 16GB Ram to play safe since that cannot be upgraded later, the SSD you may later replace / upgrade since it is on a separate card from the main board.

Preview is the preinstalled PDF and image viewer. It has its limitations compared to Adobe, but it works well for viewing files. Adobe was fine for years on my old MBP, so it may just need to be optimized for Mavericks and/or retina.

Sounds good to me.

On a seperate note, I wonder when the new Mac version of Office will be available, perhaps sometime in mid-2014?

Yeah, it really needs an update.

Actually it doesn't need much other functionality to make me happy.

1) Fix retina support (only about 40% of the UI supports retina)
2) Speed improvements
3) Smooth scrolling, like when you scroll in a PDF in Preview.app. I hate those scrolling-steps in Word.
4) Bug fixes
