Two questions to let time flow:

· considering confirmed the 4 USB-C ports, how do you think to manage with them? I'm pretty sure they'll launch an Apple-super-expensive-mega-dongle like this. Sad but (almost) true.

· about the OLED bar: how will it be possible to make it work with bootcamp and windows drivers?

Regarding your first point. I wouldn't think of it as a dongle, but rather the chance for Apple to finally provide a great single-port docking solution for the Mac (one that doesn't require the purchase of a $1000 display) which is something many people have wanted for years.

Dell sells something similar for their XPS line:
http://www.slashgear.com/dell-outs-usb-c-and-thunderbolt-3-docks-and-macs-can-play-too-06420821/

Honestly, I'm already used to dealing with dongles to connect to any kind of external display on my Macbook air. If I could have a one-port docking solution + 1 Usb-c to usb-A, HDMI, VGA dongle (the only connections I'll need on the go) I would be happy. This is of course assuming I don't also need an adapter for the 3.5mm headphone jack...

So I'm pretty sure that this has already happened in the thread, but what are our hopes for storage size changes? I have a feeling the 128 GB will be axed, but how?

Do you think we'll see 256/512/1 TB at the current price points?

My hackintosh is starting to irritate me (thanks, Sierra update) so I'm seriously considering going back to one Mac. But for this to happen, the 1 TB upgrade needs to not cost $500!

I think they'll have 256/512/1TB options, too. Wouldn't make sense for it to start at the iPhone's mid-tier option.

Man if they make the current 512gb models the same price as a 1tb in the new MBP I would be so happy

15" may just have 512/756/1000. Guess the 32GB ram will be the new (sexy) thing

Most likely: 512/1024/2048 GB's.

Thats how the storage will look like with the release of new MBP.

This is like the weirdest launch ever. We get one leak from months ago (seemingly from the production line), and nothing since then? What the heck is happening?!? Where are all the leaks I'm entitled to!!?

That's too generous. You know how Apple tends to keep storage back to lowest possible!

Apple counts in 1000s not 1024 and so on.

Internal 2TB SSD doesnt make sense. In a financial way and productive usage. If you need big space, you go for a cloud system.
We wont see 2 TB in a laptop soon I guess.

It's not going to include 756. It's not Apple's strategy, which is apparent in its smartphone business. 32gb, 128gb, 256gb. Need the sweet spot of 64gb? Nope. Pay more for 128GB, or suffer with half the space you "need" at 32gb. It's a pretty brilliant strategy to sell a higher configuration that works.

768 of course.. not 756. my bad. It was already an option in the 2014 MBP. So yes, this was part of Apple's strategy.
Currently the 2TB drives are very pricey and would at least cost $1000 more. Apple wont focus on that, their prios are iPhone, iPad, .....MB.

just got this in my mail if anyone interesting.. Razer will start selling its new Blade with GTX1060 tomorrow OCT/2 .. I think they knew that Apple going to make new designs soon so they thought this is the best time to start selling them.. smart thinking razer

since their laptops design are copied from current MBPs. the design will get old when apple show off the new one..
That thing will look ancient, aesthetics wise when the new MBP drops.

Only Mac AppStore apps will work on ARM initially. No, VMs or Boot Camp to run Windows/Linux. Apple's current ARM SOCs are made for low-power/low-performance devices like the iPad Pro and 12" MacBook. No Thunderbolt 3.

My guess is that Apple will make a partial move to ARM with the 12" MacBook but keep using Intel in the other Macs.
My guess is that Apple will never (or at least not within 10 years) move to ARM for the MacBooks.

Apple since they introduced ipad pro and 12" Macbook its clear that for the next generation Macs(3-4 years) will not be based on ARM. Its pure logic

Whatever happens I just hope it's great because we'll be inevitably having this design and computer OS philosophy around for another decade.

I really wish Apple would innovate the platform a bit. The Surface Pro was honestly a good product and I wish we had something of the like to start transforming the way we interact with professional apps.

Hurricane is the codename for A10 chip. There has to be separate chip for TouchID hardware, and for integrating the APFS with AES Encryption.

For AES you need Intel CPUs. For TouchID you need secure enclave in the CPU. To get access to the hardware first, you would need to get access to the A10 CPU. Which would not be possible without overcoming few hardware firewalls in the computer.

There is very long time, before ARM becomes enough good to be desktop replacement for x86 architecture.

Interestingly enough it wouldn't cost much to throw an A10 in alongside the i7 and have a dual power situation where the x64 side runs traditional OS X and the A10 side can be booted into for lower power tasks and sip the huge battery for insane runtimes. It's not like Apple moves a huge volume of MBPs compared to iOS devices so there wouldn't be a volume production issue having an A10 in there.

Better yet, the A10 running seamlessly at the hardware level, booting/controlling the Intel hardware when needed for non-ARM apps. Instant wake all the time, seamless switch to x86/x64 hardware when called for by apps.

yeah. I'm going crazy at this point.

Doubting we will see 2TB, from Apple's "courageous" view, it makes more sense for them to encourage people to use a monthly iCloud plan as much as possible

If not 2tb I hope they only give the 15 inch an option for 512 or 1tb with a lower price

I would be very surprised if they offered storage tiers above 1tb, would put them in line with the Surface Book etc. 128 gb probably done away with as the did with the Macbook.

256/512/1TB I think. Got knows what they will charge for the 1tb
