Hi guys
I need your advices.
I currently have a 13" 2012 macbook pro that works OK but is super slow.
I am planning to buy a 15" macbook pro. Would it be wiser to wait until the next year CES (Jan. 6 I believe) and see what Apple's gonna say or should I just buy the current model with a discounted price? If i were to buy a 13" I would definitely wait but I want a 15" and I doubt the 15" model will be updated any time soon. (My guess is September or mayyyybe June)
Any advises? Thanks!

might wanna try throwing an SSD in there... it will speed up anything involving reading/writing files (especially system files).
as for 15", iris pro 580 was just revealed as part of skull canyon so don't count it out just yet.

+1! SSD + cleaning dust in fans and change thermal paste + (eq. to format in mac) = new rMBP 13 =)

Maybe... but the Alienware 13 is the ultra most most powerful of all.

Not quite 13" but the 14" Razer Blade sports a quadcore and nVidia 960M or 970m i believe. The Alienware only has a "slower" cpu that bottlenecks it's 960m in various tests.

Oh man 2015 :D I'm interested to see how far solid state storage will have increased in terms of speed and size by then. The other interesting fact will be what Apple does with OSX and iOS if they will start merging the two operating systems even more. I'd also like to see Skylake pushing Macbook Pros to 15+ hours of battery life but we will have to wait and see. These are some exciting times.

I plan on using my 2012 Retina Macbook till at least 2016. I tend to keep my computers between 4-5 years.
So when do you think the new Skylake chip will come out.

It's unfortunate for me, the timing of the next generation Whatever Lake MBP's is sometime in the new year.

I'd love to pick something up prior to year's end for tax purposes...and there's no Apple computer that's compelling enough to buy. :(

This question is asked on almost every page in this thread recently.

Only Apple knows.
People speculate we can see something at the same event for the iPhone 6c and the Watch in March. If we don't see an upgrade in the mac line by then, WWDC would be a big event for the whole Mac lineup.

Almost all Macs are using somewhat old hardware, and the lineup is way past due of upgrades

Went back in time a bit to the release of the mid 2015 Macbook Pros. Ars has a good read on the release, but whats really fascinating is the comment section, makes it easier to hold out for the Skylake since everyone agrees its going to be a major improvement vs the light 2015 update: http://arstechnica.com/apple/2015/0...the-2015-15-inch-retina-macbook-pro-reviewed/

Yeah, this part really is quite sad.

We hoped that Iris Pro 6200 could help close that gap, but, as it stands, an entry-level Retina MacBook Pro from 2015 still has poorer graphics performance than an entry-level Retina MacBook Pro from three years ago.

The GPU has always been the most questionable point (along with price) of 15" MBPs. That, as well as poor graphic card choices from Apple: there's absolutely no reason for Apple to have chosen the Radeon m370x over the Nvidia 960m, which runs faster, cooler and moreless at the same price level.

Why, Apple, why?! It makes no sense whatever! Did you have any conflict with Nvidia at a corporate level?

I've been an Apple advocate and an avid Mac user for years because I very much prefer OSX over Windows, but if they don't give us a 15" MBP 2016 update with an adequate GPU, I'm seriously considering going back to PC now that Windows 10 has finally delivered a very solid OS... You know, I'd like to play a decent game on my computer here and there too, for Pete's sake!

MacBooks were never meant to play some of the games out there, it's not a gaming-friendly devices. Maybe a gaming laptops suit you better.

Where do you see or read about it, that is the new 12 macbook

Look more closely to the second last image. There is a laptop in the background, that's what the article is about. From the image it doesn't seem to match any existing Apple product. It looks big and has small bezels, so therefor maybe the redesigned Macbook Pro?

Hi guys,
I found a article of a france site where they speak about the MBP 2016 and there is also a picture with it. I translated the Site with Google, it's enough to understand it ... It seems that we get a new design with more color options

http://consomac.fr/news-4303-un-apercu-du-macbook-pro-2016.html
Very interesting indeed. Looks rather thin to be a MBP though...Perhaps a 14 inch Macbook?

CBS "spying" confirmed.

"We're just to pretend to having an interview and those people will never know we just leaked their super secret products."

Just kidding

Also, Jupiter for the iPad Pro, so now the Saturn for the "new MBPs"

What's for the new iMac then?

I also hope that new iPod Nano with Wireless can be Pluto.

But seriously, even Apple under Tim Cook are having more secret leaking than ever before, they're not really plainly "stupid" enough to put a new secret products in front of a reporter from a famous television channel, right after they said they're super secret company. Maybe it's not what we think after all.
Or not.
