I still think the event will talk about new Macs and 4K Apple TV. I can see the watch and Airpods being mentioned, but only a little as those products were already highlighted at the iPhone announcement.

I doubt they will release an updated iOS platform at a Mac focussed event. I'd wager that the 4K Apple TV will be the cornerstone of the iTunes remodel (separation) on the Mac and be a media focussed 2017. Well, one can dream....

Also, posting this just to make sure we increase our post count. I read this everyday and have been on top of this thread from the beginning can't lose to T-mobile thread - that'd be damn embarrassing.

Last time I've talked with Tim, the deal was new macbooks as soon as this reached 1,000 pages. Not sure what's the hold up
Timmy probably wants to clear the stock (including the cMBP) AT FULL PRICE.

IT'S A TRAP - but hey, an average consumer doesn't spend time reading mac rumors and couldn't care less if the chip on a MacBook Pro is Skylake or Crystalwell.

My problem with the current Macbook isn't even the CPU, it's the GPU. The R9 M370X is weak... :\

Are BTOs really built to order?

Because usually when you order a BTO, it arrives 1 day after the stock one would arrive. I think BTOs and stock ones are in the same place; they just take a day longer because... I don't know. But if they were built to order, it'd be more than one day of delay.

I suppose they make a guess on what kind and how many BTOs will be ordered and send it to their warehouses.

TL;DR; BTOs are also in stock all the time because they just take one more day to deliver than stock ones.

They probably have more warehouses locally with standard stock because they are more in demand and only a few with the BTO models due to the low volume of their sales so it takes an extra day because its not shipping from right around the corner.

I would imagine that's true. I'm sure they have a stock, albeit smaller one, of all the BTO configs at FoxConn they just send off as needed, and then when these stocks run low, they build some more, probably all based on sales projections.

Tim & Apple are really trolling us now, its unforgiving how lazy and neglectful they are to their loyal customers.

It wouldn't hurt them or sales to give customers an idea of when or IF they can expect a new design this year, but to be honest their complete disregard and lack of communication towards customers and the Mac range just puts me off wanting to invest in them any longer.

Will the next upgrade take as long or happen at all? technology moves fast and Apple is stonewalling their customers meaning we cant plan ahead or upgrade as freely as we'd like. I mean I don't buy a new MBP/Laptop every year and nor do I want to, but this re-design is well over due and Apple probably wont even come up with a decent spec'd version worth the PREMIUM price tag they'll add to it.

In 1 respect I want to stay in the Apple eco-system and with OSX and in another ill be happy to leave and feel a little unchained and not so held to ransom by the Apple overlords. I've loved my 1 and only Mac it's lasted since 2011 and even with the GPU issues its been fun, but its not been without its faults and Apple just don't seem so interested in the Mac line up anymore even when this new MBP arrives.

I hope you are all right about the 27th but Apple hasn't shown any hints of a Mac release. In almost every Mac release I can remember there have been fulfillment estimation changes in the weeks leading up to a refresh (or a redesign). Have we heard of any VARs that have seen their fulfillment estimations change? Or any machines on backorder?

To be honest some said Apple could delay the mac's to March so they could be presented on the new campus.

And I said that would be a stupid idea because if that was true then Apple woulda had upgraded the mac's back in May when the CPU's came avaiable, on the same chassis, and would redesign next year.

Something else comes to mind tho, if Tim is as much of a 'numbers guy' as most people paint him as, I think he doens't think it's even wise to have a whole year without a Mac update. I totally get that iPhones and iPads sell way more but if the Mac still gives profit, be it as low as it is, it still gives Apple a reason to continue to do them. (if they gave zero or negative profit then Apple would kill the Mac and focus on the i-Ecosystem).

I don't know what else to think, the Mac HAS to happen this month. We have the CPU's, we have the GPU's (PS4 Pro is out soon and I bet the Mac will use the same GPU portion of it), we have the P3-Gamut screens on iMacs and such now, probably they made them for the Macbooks now as well. They also had time to perfect the new redesign. There is no reason for they not to come out now.

At this point, having to adapt to two ecosystems at once is your best chance.

For me, it's the following:

Phone - iPhone
Laptop - MacBook Air
Tablet - iPad
Desktop - Built PC
Watch - Apple Watch

So basically, everything besides the desktop. You can even replace the laptop with a Windows one if you want, considering just how thin and powerful the 1060 ones are. But at least for me, the MBA's and the 13" MBP are still excellent choices.

Yeah the 13'' actually got Broadwell (the 15''s remained Haswells), and since they are iGPU only, the Skylakes that will replace them are not that meaningfully more powerfull. If I were to be on the market for a 13'' I'd be a lot less concerned about a new Mac.

Unfortunatly, I want the 15''.

His account probably has a manager and all of you guy's emails are going to the spam folder right about now x)

I have the 15" now, but it's a little too heavy for me for regular mobile use. I hope they shave a decent amount of weight off of it so I can upgrade to another 15".
