The mouse and keyboard are trash. They are the epitome of form over factor. Logitech mice and mechanical keyboards triumph over everything else.

Logitech is good...

But I'm an author for half of my living, and I just don't write fast enough on that style keyboard.

I use an Enermax Aurora keyboard and will do so until I die (because the keyboard will outlast me). When my MBP is docked in my office, my Aurora will be permanently plugged into whatever hub I'm using.

I was at a best buy store and I asked the newb employee, "do you think Apple will release new MacBook Pro's anytime soon?" and this is what he said, "Why would they release any MacBook Pro's when they have the MacBook Retina (12")?" I literally said to him, "are you serious those things suck!" He was pissed off at me, who cares though?
[doublepost=1476496607][/doublepost]And I went to the Apple Store earlier this week and asked one of the employees to show me one of the newest MacBook Pros and they took me the 2015 MacBook Pro and I said what is the difference between this one and the on from last year (2014) and they said the, "force touch trackpad" I said, "that's it" and they just smiled. Then I asked him when the new MacBooks are coming out and he said, "I haven't got a clue."
I swear the people who work in the Apple Store and any store that sells apple products don't have a clue what they're talking about.

Well at this point I think John Gruber's words almost confirms that new Macs will be lanched on 27th, so just wait until 20th and we will see the invitation. I think someone like Gruber "must knows" when macs will be released, but he used an if in order not to displease Apple. Today I finally realized that Apple's move of its earnings call can be a hint of the event on 27th. And the new event can somehow prevent Apple's stock from falling after the earnings call.
Do you guys think this time I'm right?

He's a well-known Apple blogger. He's the guy who interviewed Apple execs at the last few WWDCs. He used to use really subtle hints that he knew something, although he hasn't done that in a while.

Here's the post in question: http://daringfireball.net/linked/2016/10/07/microsoft-event

Personally, I think people are reading into things, although I think the 27th will be the day.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer traditional keyboards. This mechanical keyboard stuff is neat, but at the pace I type, it sounds like I'm firing an MP5 at my desk. I've been using cheap HP keyboards I bought in bulk from Newegg in USB format years ago. I throw them out once a year.

Go post some more guys (and girls)! They are approaching! Dashed are Apple events, the red is October 27th.

Oh my, that looks like a missile launched to intercept this thread!

Re: The Microsoft event

What if the Microsoft event is the Mac event? Imagine this at the MS event:

<announcer>: "Hello everyone, please welcome Satya Nadella, our CEO."

SN: "Thank you. Today, we have an important hardware announcement. As you may know, the PC market is declining. Therefore, we have decided to team up with a competitor."

<assistant>: Rolls out a table holding several computers covered by a cloth.

SN: "We have an ultraportable laptop, a professional laptop, an all-in-one, and a small form factor system. But before I reveal these systems, please welcome my long time friend, Tim Cook!"

TC: "Thank you, Satya. It is an honor to be here today."
TC: Pulls back the cloth.

SN: "We have here the XBook, the XBook Pro, ..."

TC: "...the XOne, and finally the XMini."

SN: "As of today, we are rebranding Windows 10 to Windows X. All of these systems will be available for purchase with either Windows X or ..."

TC: "... OSX preinstalled. Apple will continue to be responsible for future hardware design."

SN: "Marketing will be handled jointly with Microsoft."

No, I hardly believe some self proclaimed internet-insiders/leakers so that's that.

Personally I have no problem waiting but at some point the wait has to be over. College already started and I'm doing my notes on an aging TF 300 that's not a good solution. I won't spam this thread (like a lot of people do with wannabe information and useless images), but I for sure can't and will not wait till March. So it will be interesting to see what the new Surface Pro 5 and Surfacebook 5 have to offer, if they are still touchscreen and still have forced updates I'll gladly pass but if not they might be another alternative to the obvious ones like Stealth, XPS. What pisses me of about the XPS even more is Dell is even refusing a 16 gig i5 option. Did it ever occur to them that this would be an absolute sweetspot for a lot of people? Yes the i7 has more power is faster but also consumes more battery and if I can get around 10 hours on windows 10, I should be able to get around 12 hours with windows 7 installed right? But no that thing is hidden under the i7 version. Also it sucks that you can't have the 3200 pixel display without touchscreen I mean...seriously?

Since someone asked the difference between the Stealth and the XPS are mostly software and service. Razer is pushing something called Synapse you must register your product if you want to customize the default settings which absolutely sucks because if you waren't online - no customization for you ==> as stupid as it gets. One of the good things is Razer reduced the price and this thing almost has no bloatware but if you live outside the US you may have to wait a bit for them to release it. The XPS is already available and if you don't use/need the awkwardly positioned camera I personally think it's the best alternative to the MBP right now, although some of their configuration options just flatout suck. I would gladly pay 1.400 for a QHD, i5, 16 gig ram, NON touch version but no, you have to choose the i7, 16 gig, QHD + touch version which costs almost 2.000 bucks sooo retarded.

Biggest reason while I wait a few more weeks is simple, if the MBP 2016 follows the stupid thinner, lighter trend and Apple really removes stuff the MBP will be cheaper and I'll buy an old full specced 13 inch one for a much better price...if the MBP 2016 blows me away I'll glady pay the same price or slightly more so it's a win win situation with the only exception that like most students I can't and will not wait till march.

I can't and will not wait till march.

You should go find a 'waiting for surface/book 5' thread. Rumor is that the only hardware being announced by MS is a surface desktop. No mobile updates.

Maybe they're waiting till March like Apple.*

*dont shoot me, I'm only kidding ... I think

Hardware from Microsoft doesn't really matter when they have partners continuously putting out new products with the latest chips and goodies all running on Windows 10.

I'm surprised people even want Microsoft hardware when you consider all the problems there have been with it. From splitting bands in their health gear, many sleep, battery and QA issues with Surface tablet products, the Skylake debacle and many, many broken software updates from Microsoft for Surface Book, seriously why pay a Microsoft premium for bang average Microsoft branded hardware?

Can someone tell me what the New Razer Blade costs in US$ with 1 TB storage? http://www.razerzone.com/store/razer-blade

The website annoyingly redirects to its Australian store (where it's not yet available) and refuses to give me US prices.
basically 2,400

So there are no chance of seeing it on the next, I presume...
Correct as apple tends not to re-add removed features

but I for sure can't and will not wait till March. So it will be interesting to see what the new Surface Pro 5 and Surfacebook 5 have to offer

Microsoft's cycle for updates is actually the spring, that's when all the Surface Pros and Surface Book were announced. Its everyone's expectations that we'll see the SP5 in March/April. Microsoft has a scheduled media event at the end of the month but its for the rumored AIO desktop, and they already confirmed its not for the Surface Pro or Surface Book

I can't speak for the band, but I can say all the issues they had were software, and they've since been resolved. I've owned a Surface Pro 3, and now a Surface Book and they've both been rock solid. I'm very happy with what has been coming out of Redmond Wa. In fact they seem to be rolling out new innovative designs more then Apple has. Which is kind of sad, given Apple's history and pedigree. I've been hoping to see a redesigned MBP for some time.

I would put some asterics before it and call it *want* because I think the hardware is innovative and specced nicely but at a premium pricetag problems between soft and hardware are absolutely unacceptable and construe to a lack of QA. If I *have* to buy a one of those the first thing I'd be doing is putting Windows 7 on it and uninstall Windows 10. Hence why I want a NON touch laptop but with a higher resolution display but trying to find something like that is like searching for the needle in a shock of hay.

Oh hey thanks, but how much is the QHD?

That seems like quite a good price for regular HD with 1 TB!

It's 2.699 USD you should check out Linus Tech Tips review on this thing, he calls it his favorite laptop of 2016 and uses it privately.

I tweeted Gruber "don't reply if you're under a media embargo not to discuss the new macs that are dropping on the 27th October 2016" ...he never replied. MBP on the 27th confirmed lads :apple:;)

Not only are we waiting for invites to go out, but we still haven't had the inevitable report yet that the new MacBook Pros will be extremely supply constrained at launch due to some low yield issue.
