I like your optimism. Maybe they will come out with macbooks as powerful as current macbook pros and macbook pros with xeon and 64gb ram. That would sure stick it to the xps. I would be thrilled if they came out with a 5k display 40-50", I feel like I'm the only one tired of 27" and ready for more screen space.
Xeon were primarily for enterprises...Which probably aren't the choices for MacBooks. Besides, Xeon (E3) chips won't out run the fastest i7 chips for sure.

If there were a macbook pro that was the equivalent of a mac pro, a lot of people with too much money would buy it regardless of need. It also would give people the excuse "I'm not getting the xeon macbook so this $3000 I'm spending on the i7 macbook isn't so bad".

Actually, mobile Xeon equals Xeon E3 for the desktops, which it's selling for an i7 chips with features for big corporations, not necessarily for a better performance (actually it's slower than its i7 counterpart for common uses). So unless Apple wants to moving in for enterprises, it's not really necessary IMO.
And a Xeon E3 usually it's cheaper than the highest end mainstream i7 chips, I don't know how mobile Xeon plays in the market..

the chips from Intel for Macbook and macbook pro 13" are available for March event. There are supposed to be those for 15" as well from January
So in March event we will have macbook and macbook pro updates and apple watch 2 and probably 4" iphone 6c

I have a Early 2011 17" MacBook Pro. It is a great machine, however, I would love a 15" retina display. I have been searching eBay for a deal but I think I am going to wait for the Skylake rMBP.

Intel :"we may or may not release the new Iris Pro Lakes cause we donwanna to."
Dum, dum-dum-dum-dum!

Intel's delays, especially with Iris Pro CPUs, are getting ridiculous. But I think this all from having a lack of competition.

Intel literally has no incentive on the high end to dump money into fixing fab problems; notice how their lower power mobile CPUs are almost always on time because they have to compete with AMD's APUs and ARM chips.

Apple's 15" Macbook Pro and the new VAIO Z Canvas are really the only major machines that get screwed from the Iris Pro delays. Other PC manufacturers just put in a dGPU then stick a baseline processor like 6700HQ and be done with it. With that said, I like the fact that Apple uses more higher end CPUs(The current Haswell CPUs STILL beat the 6700HQ).

Another thing to mentioned it's chips are getting harder to made than before, not only lacks of the competitors. It sounds PITA but we have to wait...
6700HQ was probably the lowest-end one, it's not a surprise for me.
Speaking about VAIO, I've always heard that they got a very nice hardware team, but Sony screwed it because their fightings from inside.

If they release a new version of macbook pro, will the price stay the same as current? If not, I see no point in waiting.

Delay? The Iris Pro hasn't been delayed, it's just due for a later release date which isn't unusual. Being what IP is the competition is lower and also the demand. Intel therefore focuses their R&D and production on consumer-grade chips that have higher demand (and higher competition). This is true for all industries, not just the computer industry.

Nah, I think March. MBP was introduced January 2006 so Phil Schiller will come out of the back after Cook talks about Apple Watch II, one more thing style. "You know, ten years ago, we changed the world with the MBP" (play clip of Steve and Intel announcing first MBP). Enter 10th anniversary rMBP with skylake and 8 GB memory. Ives will talk about how they migrated some of the thinness from the MacBook but squeezed in a smaller battery, a killer Taylor Swift song in the background. The MBP will sit on stage, running out of juice two minutes before the keynote ends.
Corrected your typos, no need to thank me ;)

So we got three possibilities:

1 - Intel shows suitable Skylake cpu at CES and a couple of weeks later Apple silent upgrade the rMBPs
2 - Apple shows the rMBP redesigned during the March Event
3 - Apple shows the rMBP redesigned at WWDC in June

I really doubt about the second option, they will present too many things, if it's true that's a dedicated event for iPhone and iWatch.
Instead I see more likely the 1 and 3, which don't exclude each other.
Anyway, it's really funny ( :( ) how we're still in the conditions from august/september: we still know nothing.
Except the hints from CES and Apple Event, which are kinda uncertain, we have no idea what's gonna happen.
Everyday I check news about Iris 580 or Skylake, there's nothing.

We can only wait, at least for January, at this point.
Dammit!

I think your opinion that they will have 'too many' products to reveal is kind of weird. Why would they not improve a laptop, thats wayyy over due an upgrade, and just wait another few months just for the sake of releasing products more evenly over the year's timeline. Doesn't really make sense.

I think march will be very possible but january is too early, but perhaps it isn't for the 13"

I know, CES is not an Apple event. These upgrades won't warrant a keynote.
Okay, I'm usually a fast reader and English are not my primary language. I apologize.
I don't think you understood what the poster was saying. He was saying that if Apple only releases Skylake spec bumps instead of fully redesigned MBPs, Apple won't wait for an event.

Because our benevolent lord Chin Chin would require too many sacrifices and Papa Franku hasn't collected enough chromosomes yet!

Seriously talking, usually Apple doesn't present lot of stuff, and Watch + iPhone it's already a big deal.
Introducing also a redesigned MBP would be "to have too many irons in the fire".
But it could be indeed. Three new products in a single event.

Anyway, the point it's always the same: no rumor, no leak, we have to wait.

Where are the Iris Pro broadwell CPUs then? Intel "released" those CPUs, yet even then the VAIO Z Canvas had to use the Haswell Iris Pro. I didn't know Iris Pro was going to a two-generations-behind schedule. If that isn't some kind of delay then I don't know what is. Intel will be at 10nm by the time the 15" rMBP gets Skylake.

I just find it very heard to believe Apple would wait till June, with their 15" model shipping with 2+ year old CPU's. I dont believe they would have skipped Broadwell if they intended to wait that long.
