Where are the Iris Pro broadwell CPUs then? Intel "released" those CPUs, yet even then the VAIO Z Canvas had to use the Haswell Iris Pro. I didn't know Iris Pro was going to a two-generations-behind schedule. If that isn't some kind of delay then I don't know what is. Intel will be at 10nm by the time the 15" rMBP gets Skylake.
Broadwell is an exception. Regarding Skylake IP every roadmap have shown Q1 so as of today it's not delayed.

yes but i wonder if those i7 are for the Macbook pro 13" being dual core...but still no quad core i7 hd 580...seems those will be released on January

Because our benevolent lord Chin Chin would require too many sacrifices and Papa Franku hasn't collected enough chromosomes yet!

Seriously talking, usually Apple doesn't present lot of stuff, and Watch + iPhone it's already a big deal.
Introducing also a redesigned MBP would be "to have too many irons in the fire".
But it could be indeed. Three new products in a single event.

Anyway, the point it's always the same: no rumor, no leak, we have to wait.

Hahaha that made me laugh so hard, glad there's another abortion clinic failure here

We'll just have to wait. Hopefully Chin Chin blesses us this march

It's probably been discussed, but what discreet graphics card will be offered with the new MacBook Pro?
I believe in the current casing they have a limit of 45 watts, so nothing drawing more than that. Realistically, there isnt really a upgrade available yet. Pascal from Nvidia perhaps, but that hasnt launched yet.

I finally joined the forum since I'm going to upgrade to a 15" rMBP (currently using ASUS N550JV) after holding out on Apple for so long. I've been lurking this thread for a while haha.

Unfortunately I don't think my patience can hold and I might go for the mid 2015 model and make the purchase on Jan. 4... Hopefully Apple/Intel says something within the 14 day return window haha.

Can't the ASUS hold your breath until then? The big benefits actually come with the next generation i.e, better battery life, better iGPU, TB3 (which is also supposed to streamline eGPUs support, perfect for power use when docked), etc

I would hold out at least until after CES (Jan 6-9). Apple has a history of announcing new products during CES (even though they don't actually participate).

I know, TB3 is something I REALLY want (charging via USB-C & eGPUs are worth having). I guess I could hold out for a small bit, but I don't want to wait until February, that's ridiculous. I'd want them to announce it at least in January. Even an Intel announcement might help curb my impatience haha.

My current laptop works fine, but the itch to move to OS X for web development and a thinner laptop with a better screen has been growing. However moving to the current rMBP would nearly be a lateral "upgrade" for me.

Yeah I'll probably hold out for a CES announcement but beyond that... I don't think I can wait for days on end until late February or even March/April for an announcement.

i know the feels man. I keep eyeballing the mid 2015+radeon rmbp but I try to focus on something else. Just holding out for thunderbolt 3 or a 32 GB option. I know it's cheesy but, I printed out a screen cap of the MBP buyers guide "Don't Buy, Updates Soon", but, its just a bit of motivation to stay away from the current boxes. I mean look at all the people in the "I just bought a macbook" thread. Nothing wrong with that, quite jealous of them actually, a lot are facing the same dilemma and choosing to bite. but I wouldn't be happy if a new one was released in February-march whenever. i'd be pretty annoyed after dropping $2.5k+. Higher RAM (32 Gb option (i can dream)) or Thunderbolt 3 could make the machine last a few more years of useful life (just like my 2010 box is doing now with ExpressCard 3/4).

I know how you feel. Personally, I feel regretful (and quite foolish) having waited all this time - since last September. I've decided if there is no announcement during CES, I'm taking the plunge on the current rMBP.

I feel for you both. I was in the same position, but I couldn't wait either...

Here are the two I was choosing between:

Make sure you apply promo code APINSIDER during checkout (right before payment info) to get the prices below. There's a link on the checkout page, hard to find, but there.

The 2015 will drop to $2,099.00 in your cart, free shipping.

The 2014 will drop to $2,149.99 in your cart, free shipping.

The former is currently on backorder as of yesterday. I did pick up the 2015, but truthfully, I wish I jumped on the 2014 - then again I wanted the 5k monitor support.

Ouch. And same here, I'm hoping Apple/Intel has something to say in the first week of January.

What are the chances that the rMBP goes on sale the same day it's announced? Does Apple even do pre-orders for the rMBP like they do for the iPhone? I thought they just went straight on sale on the site.

Links and the code don't work for me, but I didn't realize how cheap Adorama was, plus no tax! This makes it even harder to wait, it saves me $200+ on my config haha...

Yeah I did that on desktop (manually went to the laptop from adorama.com though). It didn't work, but funny enough the link you have shows that it's on backorder.

How long is this promo supposed to last? If it goes to the 4th or 5th I think I'll take the risk and pull the trigger on it.

Did you sign up as a VIP member? You need to do that first and then login before using the links. Check out the pages below, you only have three days left... You can watch the prices, however, with the second link. You can also see the 2014 listed there. That's the one I should have gotten, but oh well, running a 5k display is something I couldn't resist...

I'm on a 2012 rMBP and will hold out till next December if I have to lol. Don't know about you, but I keep my laptops for at least 3 years so a few more months won't bug me considering the TB3 change and how most devices will be going that route.

I have been following this thread a while as I know most have. I am waiting and waiting as I don't want to buy another MBP without TB3 and as I'll be buying a 15" I don't want the old CPU it currently ships with. I hope to keep it 4 or 5 years so will max out the specs when it comes. That of course assumes that TB3/USB-C will become a new standard and given the hundreds of millions of accessories etc that rely on USB2 and USB3 and the companies making them show no sign of changing soon who can say. Years ago I stuck it out with Firewire only to find that few others did.

I find though most here seem certain Apple will put something out along with Skylake and TB3 and the questions are around when and what form factor etc. However previously I had a Mac Pro and the way Apple refused to update for years has left me with rather shaken confidence. They didn't even move beyond USB2 on that machine!

So for those who have followed MBPs for years, how likely is it that Apple will come out with such a computer whether it's in February or the summer etc? Or is it possible they will simply do nothing for another 12 months, charging full price for cheaper technology as they did for a few years with the Mac Pro. Their attitude to USB2 and 3 makes me think they are largely unbothered about the question of getting the latest standards.

Not wanting to be too pessimistic. I just have this fear that 99% of MBP buyers just walk into the shop and buy it because it looks nice, feels nice and has OS X. How many really know about Skylake? If Apple can get away with delaying the update will they do so? Or are laptops just much more competitive than the market the Mac Pro used to be in?
