No. Gurman actually said that the CURRENT Macbook Air starts at $899, not that the newly expected Macbook Air with usb-C will start at $899. No one knows how much anything new will start out at, but there are rumors that there will be a $200 uptick across the board for all upcoming Macs.

Prices are informed speculation as of right now. The rMB is priced at $1299, the same price as the current entry level 13" rMBP. Based on this information, it wouldn't make sense for the new rMBP to start that cheap. That is unless they cut the rMB to $999 or something, but then the Air would fit better at that $1299. Either way, expect to pay more for the new 13" rMBP.

since masOS sierra 10.12.1 is not yet finished maybe the macbook pros will not ship next thursday and it wont be till early november when the 10.2.1 update is ready?
They aren't going to hold back the supply chain because of an update. Sierra has the kHID support for the touch bar baked in.

That makes sense to me. We'll probably just have an update to install when we connect to the internet for the first time.

Saw this when trolling the web. It talks about the possibilities of a MacBook with an E Ink keyboard:

"For example, a user could quickly switch a keyboard from English characters to Japanese hiragana and katakana characters. Yet another mode, in a more whimsical vein, might allow the user to turn their entire keyboard into an array of emoji characters."

Don't think it will matter that much. Aspyr and Feral already have to go from DirectX11/12 to OpenGL/Metal. And in this case, Civ VI doesn't support Vulkan in Windows.

As far as I know Feral and Aspyr target OpenGL for now, with that they can also target Linux and the feature parity with DirectX is fairly close, but Metal is a lot less feature packed than Vulkan/DX12 is, requiring more work to be done by them and not on Linux, soo...I don't know.

Current wishlist for launch:

- 15" rMBP w/ 512GB SSD (1TB if I can afford it, lol), maxed RAM and CPU.
- Extra AC adapter
- Thunderbolt 3 dock would be freaking amazing if one is available and aesthetic
- USB C flash drive I guess
- about 17 - 25 various dongles for USB to whatever, double the number for spares to carry in my backpack, so 50 dongles
- And 128GB SD card if I get the 512GB.

Hopefully I can afford all of it, lmao.

I had the 15" 2015 because I bought it at black friday, and I sold it for the exact amount i bought it for in April. I've been so stoked on this upgrade most because the new GPU, but now I'm not going to buy it. Why? Because I have a desktop (3570k and 980) and I'm gonna buy a second screen instead (Dell 4k 27")
I'm studying 3D and Animation, so I use Adobe After Effects and Cinema4D, and I think I'm going to do most of my work on my desktop anyways, as I don't travel much (every other weekend) and we have iMacs at school. So I'm going to have to live with not being able to do homework every other weekend. It sucks, and I have the money, but I just dont want it anymore.. IDK why?
Edit: my grammar sucks

Prepare to shell out around $ 4.000 for that, man I envy you. As a student who just bought a PP 1978 Polo, I'm happy that I can pay around $ 1.700 for it and you go all in, damn :) Thankfully I can put my "tablet note taking" to rest soon thanks godc!

Metal is better than OpenGL is/was...we likely wouldn't be getting the new Deus Ex if it weren't for it. It would be great if Apple supported Vulkan but I feel like they would've done so already.

Point is, Aspyr/Feral will most likely always have to port to a different API, but at least Metal is somewhat of an improvement. And it's new, so it'll only get better.

Yes, please!! IDK what's going on with the Thunderbolt 3 market but there's practically nothing, and most have weird limitations (no power passthrough support, or limited monitor support.) If Apple makes one that can handle passthrough and 2 4K displayport @ 60 I will be happy. Dell released one but they discontinued it because it didn't work.

If Apple were to make one, though, it'd probably be $500 and only support their new 5K monitor.

my mistake

All I said was that nothing's been confirmed and it's looking less likely with no announcement as of yet. I forgot Gurman has a camera in Tim Cooks bedroom

But based on that logic, it's ALWAYS going to be 'less likely' as each day passes until the day arrives. It's not like Apple is going to come out and say, we're going to tell you about this invite that we plan on sending out in the future.

What are the chances of being able to purchase using Apple's education discount on release?
