My family's one and only Apple computer, until next week :D.

I've been thinking about how I would be using the OLED bar, and i thought of something. You know how the OLED bar will change based on the application you're in? Like, for Spotify, it could show fast forward, skip, volume, album pic maybe, etc. For Pages/Word, it could show stuff like your clipboard, font sizes, other creative stuff, idk. If you're on the desktop view, it would presumably show a normal row of function keys.

What if you're in an app like Word/Pages, and the OLED is completely filled with stuff about Word. Suddenly, the place you're in has the lights go out, so you want to turn down your brightness. But wait! The OLED has all the function row stuff for Word already on it. Does it still have a spot for a brightness slider/button? What about a volume slider/button? Will basic yet necessary functions like that always be accessible, or do you think we would have to click "away" from the application we're in (like, click on the desktop view and then macOS detects you're not working in that application anymore) so that the traditional function row comes up again?

Sorry if that was confusing, let me know if i should rephrase it.

The text has been nicely explained.
Can some of you geniuses further speculate on what's going on with the logo? Is that water? Smoke? What's with the specific colors?
I think the black signifying OLED (bar) is an interesting thought...

It's coloured powder like in those color-explosion parties from india.

Hi there! So, my first post here! Been keeping up with this thread a looong time as well. Thursday, when they announce the MacBook Pro's, is it likely that they will be sold out in a couple of minutes/hours/days? How has this been the previous times?

The 2012s took a day to sellout.

It would be sweet to have a bunch of color options for the MBPs. I think the color on the invitation is just a reference to Apple bringing color to an otherwise black area of the computer (the OLED bar).

The event .ics file from http://www.apple.com/apple-events/october-2016/ is TWO HOURS LONG... yippeeee that means LOTS of announcements and new gear...

<please don't be 2 hours of mario kart and pokemon go demos, you can leave out ALL mention of emoji's too>
Not to be a party pooper, but the .ICS file for the March event was for two hours as well, and that event was barely one.

I'd imagine the brightness would be linked to the monitor so that wouldn't be a problem.

In terms of things like volume buttons going away when in certain apps I can see it happening. I don't need those controls when using photoshop. I don't use iTunes on the Mac but can't you just hover over the icon and it gives you those options? We'll just have to wait and see what solution it all brings. Everything is just speculation and rumour at the moment. With them using "Hello again" there is likely to be some major things above and beyond an OLED bar that was rumoured/prototyped several months back.

Familiar? It should be, from lg oled tunnel demo in 4K..
If macbook pro turns out using the whole oled screen but crazy expensive price, are you guys still interested?
Yes, and it wouldn't be unlike Apple. They did it with the 15" rMBP and it was $2200 on release. The Alienware 13" OLED is $1400 at the moment.

New MIM ( Metal Injection Moulding ) hinges, part manufacturers claim that wall thicknesses can be as small as 0.4mm.

Hmmm..
