Can't wait for the new macbooks. I have a Lenovo currently which is about 6 years old but still works fine. Only thing is its very heavy and needs to be plugged into a wall to work.

Currently I do no video or picture editing but it is something I am planning to get into to.

How many of you live in boston? I just went to turn in my rMBP and met two other guys doing the same. Now, that I come home I realize I could have waited till the last day of the 14 day return policy.

better early than too late

finally! glad this is happening soon. I got my apple gift card of $290 today also to use towards my MacBook Pro! waiting for the other $275 one for my iPhone 6s trade in. Hope I get it in time for ordering on Thursday!

I know people on craigslist that would easily pay $300 for an iphone 6s. 3 weeks before the iphone 7 release I sold my iphone 6 for $390 and bought an iphone 6s a day later for $450. I would really suggest the craigslist route.

I would max out the ram and make it last. I wish my 09 had more the last painful 18 months of waiting. Might be better resale if you upgrade earlier

yeah I was thinking about the resale value too. the 15in macbook right now has 16gb as standard meaning that the 13in might get that standard too in like 3-4 years. If i sell in 5 years, having 16gb in my 13in will look much better i believe..

So sexy.

Honestly there is no chance of a USB A port. What would be the point? You either move on or you don't. I think the card slot is gone also.
I personally won't really mind if it's all USB-C (I've been expecting that) but I can empathize with those who still would like a USB-A port for the sake of legacy convenience. I don't always want some dongle hanging off my laptop or some chunky port adapter strapped to the side just to plug in an older device quickly. SD slot for the same reason. It's very convenient to be able to just pull the SD card out of a digital camera or audio recorder and plug it in without having some multi-card reader dangling off the side, too.

I guess I just look at past MBPs and see how versatile they were with lots of different port options and hope Apple at least keeps some of that spirit. Leave the one-port-wonders for the ultraportable devices like the MacBook.

I can totally understand why people don't want all their peripherals outdated overnight but this is Apple and you just know anything they can purge from the device they will.

Looking at my current 15 inch I actually wonder if these machines might be too thin to accommodate a USB A port anyway.

Who charges their watch at their computer?

I'm a consultant that travels from client site to client site so I can't always be sure what sort of environment I'll be walking into so if I'm onsite and need to charge my phone or my watch, it is nice to plug into my laptop. Sometimes I'll show up and it is a struggle to find one place to plug my laptop in.

I'm happy that you don't ever have that need, but I do. I'll be able to get around it with adapters, I'm sure, but I'd prefer to have at least one USB-A port on my laptop.

It's interesting, because it was the resale value considerations that made me buy a base rMBP15 back in 2012. From my experience, it's hard to convince people to pay extra for the BTO addons, especially those who choose to go the '4-5 year used' route. They tend to look for the lowest price they can pay for an acceptable performance. And 4 years later the base 8GB is still twice the RAM a lot of mid range laptops are being sold with. With the hardware progress slowing down, I won't be surprised to find that 8GB or lower is still a standard 4-5 years from here, especially for a 13inch iGPU machine.

for example, the base ram is 16gb in the 15in MBP. As time goes on, it becomes common knowledge among people that 16gb is what they expect. However, what if you bought a base 8gb ram 15in macbook pro in 2013? I feel people will quickly glace at the lack of the 16gb ram and not even consider it since it is the not the standard. I feel that in 3-4 years 16gb ram is going to be standard in the 13 in as well. I might be wrong, what do you guys think? Will 8gb still be the standard in 4-5 years? or will future OSs and common applications require more ram that warrants a 16gb ram machine?
