It'll be announced and released the same day. Plenty of Sierra betas have been pushed to get a final code released for deliverable units. Now how long it'll take to get the unit after you put an order in is the question. I'm guessing most people will have to wait 2-4 weeks.
I want a replacement unit for my defective MacBook Pro the next day, Friday. Just made an appointment for next Thursday and next Friday, just in case. I contacted applecare support and they said they are going to help me out by getting a replacement. For my sake I hope that the new 13" 512gb will be $2,000. But for all your sakes $1750.

Sooo.. Will we be able to pick up a new mbp on the 27th like when they introduced the first retina mbp in 2012?

I apologize in advance for going off topic, but it seems like many people here use virtual machines.

I'm coming back to Mac after a bit and I've been checking out the apps I'll need. I'm a have virtual machine user and use VMware Workstation on my Windows and Linux hosts. I'd like to stay in the VMware world with Fusion since I think that will be the easiest way to move my machines around and while reading I came across an article saying that VMware Fusion can work with Windows installed through Boot Camp. They make it sound like I can install Windows 10 on the Mac using Boot Camp and then access that through Fusion. This would allow me to either use Boot Camp or Fusion to access that installation going forward. Has anyone used this feature and can comment on how well it works? I would love this feature if it is working as I understand it.

That's the way I use mine (2012 rMPB). There was an issue with Win10 that wanted separate licenses for the bootcamp vs. bootcamp under Vmware run, but that's been resolved by Microsoft. (That was a problem for Parallels too.) With Office 365 you then also get both the Win and Mac versions for the times when the Mac version isn't robust enough.

Go to the "windows on Mac..." forum for lots of info.

Is it an Apple Store gift card or iTunes? iTunes cards can't be used for hardware purchases. If it's Apple Store then it should show a credit when going through checkout.

It's an Apple Store giftcard. It wasn't showing up anywhere in the app though, so I wasn't sure if I had to do something to get it there. I plan on using it towards purchase of a new MBP.

If you're referring to the iOS app then you can apply the gift cards after you've added the product to your bag. It's in the lower left, "Buy with other payment options", on the Bag section.

Guys, I am in real need of a laptop right now(basically without one), but wish to wait till the new MPBs arrive. Do you guys believe it would be out the day of release? Should I go and get the current or the older MPB and return on the launch. I really need a machine right now.

That's pretty much what I was advised to do in store today. The only issue is that you won't be able to walk in store on release day and swap it out as stock is likely to be low and reserved for pre-orders (at least that's what the Genius seemed to suggest). So unless you have some breathing space in your cashflow I can only recommend you to try and use the uni library (if you're a student).

Guys. Was taking a look at the Chassis leaks of the rMBP.

Now if they're true, has anyone noticed how the trackpad is around a third bigger? See how the right side of the track pad finishes halfway under the right alt key, and the left side of it finishes around halfway through the left side alt key? Look at current rMBPs and compare.

Could this mean Apple pencil support?

I'm hoping that the redesigned 13' rMBP is as light as the current MBA. The current weight of almost 1.6kg is far too high when compared to say the XPS 13.

No, they take the store offline until there done with the keynote.
So what would be the difference between Pre-Order (Which would technically then be opened post-keynote) versus walking into the store the same day of post-keynote? Someone earlier asked if they can buy the laptop the day of if available and the response was that they would probably reserve it for someone who pre-ordered it first.

I'm thinking they may actually test out the touchID-under-display by putting TouchID under the trackpad...

If it is available you can reserve it online then go to the store for pickup, like you would on a iPhone. they can't sell a reserved item i think for 24 hours and you would know if they have it in stock.

It really depends on the initial stock level. Assuming that there's plenty of stock, you should be able to pick one up in store without too much hassle. But if they have limited stock similar to iPhone launches then you're better off clicking manically online during pre-order.

Dave Lee aka Dave2D has done a fantastic round up on what he expects so far:

To sum it up:
- OLED bar (personally don't like that at all)
- 30 % bigger Trackpad with Pencil support (don't care much because I prefer my mouse to trackpads but pencil support would be cool).
- RMB styled keyboard (would be a deal breaker I need travel on my keyboards)
- AMD dgpus (personally I would prefer Nvidia but whatever)
- 2 USB C, 2 Thunderbold ports
- No card reader and no normal USB ports (I think that's a downer, the world is not ready for USB C only laptops!)
- 32 max RAM - since I'd choose the 16 version that's more than enough for me.

This was noticed back when the leak came out, ya. It was speculated it could be for Pencil support, but personally I'm not putting my money on that. I think it's just to make the trackpad area larger as competing laptops have now moved to this trend. In other words, it's Apple keeping pace.

(Pencil support would be an awesome surprise though)

My money is on it being built into a physical power button on the top right. The leaked casing shows contacts that are likely for this button and it would be physically separate from the OLED enclosure (ie: Power is not part of the touchbar). The left side of the OLED bar cutout has a thin slot for routing a data cable through to connect to the motherboard.

OLED bar I don't care, bigger trackpad is OK I guess. AMD dGPU I'd also prefer an Nvidia one, but if this one is at least around a 965M in terms of performance I won't mind much.

Ports... I'd love that it had USB-A and HDMI, but oh well... At least would be awesome to keep the magsafe in, I sometimes trip in my cable and luckily it flies of...

RAM wise I don't know what I'll do. Looking at intel's cpu's, a cpu upgrade isn't worth the money because it only gives 0.1Ghz extra clock speed. The ram upgrades are still to be seen, I think 16gb will sufice but if I have the budget for 32 gb I think I'll go for it.

The keyboard... I don't write that much but I game. Guess I will buy a dedicated keyboard to play CS x)
