It's people just thinking that because the retina models cost more at launch these models will too. What they don't realize is that the retina cost Apple more to make. It's possible they will raise it since they seem to be doing it across the board with the Apple Watch, iPhone 7 plus, and iPad, but those weren't increased by much.
Also, the rMB costs $1299. Either they drop the price of that or we're looking at a guaranteed price increase. Unless of course you're happy with 128GB of storage for $1299 like they are offering now; you know, the same storage as your iPhone.

Isn't it a standard m.2 slot? Just buy at 960 Pro and put whatever capacity you want while saving money.

soldering might make that hard

Does anyone knows if an OLED display can still be color accurate like a regular LCD?
Probably, but if it is anything like a Samsung OLED screen, I don't want it. They over saturate everything. Most people prefer it but I, on the other hand, like my screen to be as accurate as possible.

For people who hate/hated the butterfly keyboard, how long did it take you to get used to it or enjoy it? I tried out the Macbook at the Apple store and hated it. I've been using Thinkpads for the last 10ish years so it's probably a bigger difference than if I was using a MBP. People say once they get used to it, it feels great and they can type extremely quickly, but I'm kind of skeptical.

A couple of weeks. Here's the thing about the rMB keyboards - they are high quality. Think mechanical keyboards' presses. However, it's the distance here that is the killer - if they increase that distance with the MacBook Pro (Look at the thickness of the latest leaks, and compare that to the rMB), I think it will be the best keyboard on the market. In other words, it's a short-lived, pleasurable experience.

Don't have the rMB but I'm also extremely skeptical. That travel distance is insanely small. I feel like typing fast I'd end up hurting my fingers. The lady who does "Mobiletechreview" on YouTube says she's never gotten used to it.

Does anyone know if Apple is likely to sell the 2015 MBPs alongside the new models? I want to know if I will have the option to order a customized 2015 model in case the new models disappoint. thanks

No doubt they will. They'll probably update them to Skylake too.

Did you try to type softer, like with less finger force?

Not likely, although they could potentially update the cMBP with the 2015 retina design for a cheaper price. Otherwise, finding a suitable config at the refurb store will be your only option.

If you really think you might want a customized 2015, buy it now and then return it if you want the new one. You'll be within the window.

Just wondering (for those who will order a customized version). If the pre-order started on 27.. and ordered mine on let say Nov/2.. will that really affect the shipping date a lot? anyone remember how was the case on 2012??

It depends on the stock and the demand. The demand will likely be higher than normal because it's been so long. But in 2012, if you didn't get your order in within a few hours, you were waiting longer. http://www.ibtimes.com/apple-delays...ping-why-do-launch-orders-need-another-704546

So if Apple doesn't release their own USB C Hub we're pretty much ****ed?

If you buy a dock from Apple you'll be ***ed by the money that you spend.

That said, I want them to make a TB3 dock because there isn't a good one in existence yet.

I think that's the part I would have to get used to. I just didn't have any "confidence" typing since it had less feel. Even when I pressed hard enough to register a letter, it felt like I wasn't pressing hard enough and that it shouldn't have worked. I don't know, kind of hard to explain haha. I guess I couldn't find that sweet spot of how hard to press. I played with the HP Spectre and it actually had a pretty nice keyboard for how thin it is. Hopefully the MBP will have more travel than the MBs.

I bought a cMBP in 2012, and then a rMBP in 2015, but was absolutely compelled to buy the 12 inch rMB last year because it's just so sleek.

So I now have 3 MacBooks and the one that gets the most use is probably the rMB but it's not powerful enough for some tasks.

I was thinking about selling all 3 and getting one of the new ones 16gb / 512gb that will do everything for me and with the option (hopefully) of eGPU. But I'd rather wait until gen 2.

Any advice?

I was hoping for this, seems very unlikely though.
This would have been incredible.. Add TB3, SD Card Reader, MagSafe, 2TB, 32GB, Mobile Xeon, NVIDIA CUDA, and wow... dream machine. But looking instead like 15inch, TB3, MagSafe, 2TB, 32GB, Quad i7, ATI... Good, but not great. I am looking forward to a finger scanner to unlock and hopefully app integration for 1password for example. I have not bought a MacBook Pro since 2007. I suspect we are going to see a lot of new products with TB3 starting next month...
