Could it mean something guys?

So I was here 3 yrs ago buying my first MBP - a 15" and I'm ready for an upgrade. If the new macs are released this week, I think I'll get a 13".

Interesting leaked pictures.

How many of you are going to get the 13" inch version, what about the 15" version?

The base 15" inch version will most likely cost $3000+ CAD, that is: CPU + Integrated Graphics (limited to bare bone low res/quality gaming) + 128/256 GB SSD...

:D TAKE MY MONEY AWAY.

Do you really think the base 15" is going to be $3000+ CAD, the current base 15" is $2500 CAD and that is after the price increase they made due to the difference in currency (USD to CAD).

Personally I don't see the prices being dramatically different than they are today. Possibly $2600 CAD for the base 15" and $3100 CAD for the high spec 15", before making any spec bumps to those models.

Regardless I am very exited to get my hands on a new 15", unless it ends up being dramatically more than I am expecting it too be, then it is really going to hurt. But unfortunately I am in desperate need of a new laptop so its going to happen either way.

Also hoping I can use my education discount on day one. Fingers crossed on that one.

Plot twist: 15" has both OLED bar and function row, just so Apple can **** with all the people needing F-row and make them cough up more dough?

I actually wouldn't mind if that is what happened, I would love to have the OLED bar above a function bar. But I seriously doubt that is what they have in store for us.

That's interesting (have never owned a retina screen, using an MBA for past few years). What is the max. res. in retina mode? And what's the main problem with scaling mode?

1280x800. Scaling mode is not retina, so it just looks a lot worse.

Boggles the mind how the 13" MBA has a 1440x900 resolution and yet they couldn't pixel double that for the 13" Pro. What's even worse is that my maxed out 15" is 3x the cost of the Air and has the same usable desktop space when in retina mode. They def need 4K upgrades so I can run 1920x1200 at retina mode.

I was thinking that if the first firmware of magic toolbar is bugged or something related to any software bug so we will have a lot of issues to use our new MBP... Hope the Apple QA is working hard.

Not to mention a default fallback for bootcamp drivers... hope it all just works

It's probably a separate SoC. First it requires stability outside of macOS and second it has to have an embedded security enclave for TouchID. It'll be the first Mac with ARM, in a way.

The bar is supposed to have its own ARM-based processor and probably will act as almost a standalone device that reports keystrokes when touched in situations like that - same with it having a fallback mode if and when the OS X driver has a hiccup, it goes "oh, the OS side is freaking out. Cool, now I'm just a fancy iOS device reporting keystrokes to my host."

Absolutely.

I remember way back in 2013 I was half expecting them to release the next update with a 4k screen because, at the time, many of Apple's competitors were starting to release displays with higher resolutions than that of the Macbook's and "retina" still meant something back then. I was expecting Apple to compete with the market in this area.

Now all of Apple's major competitors offer laptops, at the same price point, with much higher display resolutions. Most touting the next standard, 4k resolution.

Honestly, it's one of the easiest/least controversial things to put into a laptop to future proof it. Better than stripping it of its port variety.

The 15" resolution should be 3840 x 2400.
Some scaling:
  • 2880×1800 (15 inch native)
  • 2560×1600 (13 inch native)
  • 1920×1200
  • 1680×1050
  • 1440×900 (15 inch scaling)
  • 1280×800 (13 inch scaling)
If the rumors are true and they are keeping them at the same resolutions I will be very disappointed.

Like. Really. Really. Disappointed.

Edit:
I guess that would make 3360x2100 a good resolution bump for the 13 inch.
