I highly doubt that. What would be the point of the MBP then? This machine is not about being as fancy, thin as possible it's about performance to get stuff done. I'd rather have a thicker MBP with more battery life, and even better KB, more slots than a fancy ultra thin wanna be MBP but that may be just me.

That was my point! ;)

If Jony Ive wants something to be thinner, he could go on a diet himself! Leave our MacBook Pro's alone, Ive!

Yep, is does make sense. And unfortunately this seems to be a known problem as all their keyboard were exchanged without a problem.

However, I know 6 people who own a rMB. All of them had the keyboard exchanged at least once, 2 people even have the 3rd keyboard and one unlucky guy has the 4th keyboard.

Wow, that is just insane! I don't know what to say, that is just extremely concerning.

I wanted to wait until i've read the first reviews but i think that won't help.
After the rMBP is out there will be thousands of posts which tell's us how awfull the new rMBP is. Right below that, we will find hundrets of people who tells you how awesome the new features are and that it's a good machine. :confused:o_O

Did anybody notice that when you open the file showing the Apple Pay instruction with the new 13" rMBP, there are actually two slightly different versions in the two pages of the .tiff file. One with the smaller bezels and one with bezels that are similar in size to the current version.

Well that doesn't really matter. The only thing that really matters if you like it or not. And given my experience that only be done once you've tried it out in store or have it in your hands. Reviews and Videos are nice but it can't and shouldn't replace personal experience.

I'll buy as soon as possible, check reviews while waiting for it and possibly return after I received the package some weeks later.

Very worrying information about the butterfly keyboard, no clue why Apple needs to always reinvent the wheel. Guess I'll have to watch the keynote and see if there are any improvements to the keyboard. It feels like there are so many things that could go wrong with these laptops compared to the older ones.

They have the courage to do so :p

The jury is still out on the longevity of the new keyboard but it appears to be decent. I've seen some threads in the MacBook forum about keyboard failures but nothing that could be considered systematic.

The reason why they reinvented the wheel, was to make an even thinner laptop.

butterfly key mechanism doesn't necessarily mean low key travel, if that's what worries you.
i'm confident the key travel will be longer than that of current MB.

Less worried about key travel more worried about having to replace my keyboard repeatedly. If I spend $2k I expect my keyboard to work properly lol. Even having AppleCare I don't want to deal with that.

Yesterday's images seem to confirm the authenticity of the leaked chassis pics earlier this year.

If confirmed genuine, that would mean 4 USB-C ports + jack on the 13".

Because you can Shift + Anything to use capps. Or they could make like Android/iOS, double tap shift to "lock caps".

Caps doesnt bring any other shorcuts either, so it's a mostly useless key. I only press it when I do it by mistake.
exactly.
it's there because it had a mechanical function in old typewriter. new keyboards could do well also without it, though i understand we grew accustomed with using it from time to time.

i'd really like a double shift press to caps-lock! (with visive green light feedback of course)

considering that these model will remain mostly unchanged until 2020, i can see that an all USB solution could make sense. some adaptation needed at first, but give it time and we'll be fine.

Just wanted to wish a happy 3rd birthday.
Wow. What a trip!

source needed please.
and an explanation why it's an intrinsic flaw of the technical solution and not something that can be solved with a slight redesign of the spring part

I agree: DITCH CAPS-LOCK!! It is very rarely needed in anything productive. Since I use a Scandinavian layout, I wouldn't mind being able to fit two more frequently used characters on the keyboard. Maybe those which have a direct access on an US layout, like [] or / etc.

Regarding the maybe missing Esc key: I know that you can change the global keyboard shortcuts in MacOS, but can you reassign the Esc key to be invoked by the Caps Lock key? Just a thought.

the keyboard is the least thing im worried about, i can adapt to whatever they change about it pretty quickly.

i want different colors other then silver, 4 usb c ports, 16GB ram and 512 GB hard drive as standard configuration. if you give me those its perfect!

I hope the "leaked" pics are not real and we're in for a surprise. Also, ditching Escape and leaving Caps Lock doesn't make any sense at all, hardly anyone uses caps, apart for some forum trolls. Remove caps, solve 2 problems at once haha

Edit: not real as in placeholder, with a later update bringing in the real assets. But, probably not.

any chances they remove the pads on the bottom case of the macbook pro? i always had issues with them falling off and needing to get replaced especially on the 2013-2014 macbook pros that i had.

wwww

As far as the internals i am with you. :)
But the colors of this Laptop... o_O Does it really matter if it's the same timeless Grey since years or another fancy color!?
Don't get me wrong the black one could look pretty. But color shouldn't be a dealbreaker.

i kinda doubt that 16GB ram will be standard though
