What do you guys think about adding a cellular connection to rMBP/rMB
I've never understood why this wasn't included. I mean the iPad has it -- why wouldn't the MacBooks? It would be another remarkable difference from PC laptops. It was remarked above here that you have a hotspot on your iPhone but the great thing about it being included in the MacBook would be that it knows it's on LTE and thus be careful with data usage.

But there are lots of other things that don't make it to the MacBooks. TouchID for instance.

The M375X has a 40-45W TDP, if they want more power they must go with higher TDP (unlikely because of the slimmer body) or they need the new generation polaris. It will be Q2, march is impossible.

So why are first iPhone 7 Rumours getting in, while the next iPhone is probably released not before september, ... but nothing about any upcoming rMBPro release. Seems very strange to me ...

So its possible we will see the new rMBP with 580 Iris Pro iGPU, AMD Polaris Discreet based GPU and external GPU via Thunderbolt 3? It's gonna be insane.

It gets me wondering too. iPhone 7 is still a far away, yet we see quiet some rumors already. The only thing I could think of is popularity. Or maybe the Macbooks are built in-house while the iPhone parts are spread, which makes it harder for them harder to control leaks.

I'm also disappointed by the lack of leaks and rumors re: mba and mbp.

I don't understand the lack of buzz and excitement around laptops. I suppose one factor is that if you're going to use ssd storage with such limited capacity, might as well have that capacity in an ultra-portable phone as opposed to a much larger device such as a laptop.

Let's face it, 128 or eventually 256 gigs of storage sounds a lot more impressive in a phone than in a full sized laptop. I had 256 gigs standard in my laptop back in 2008 and eventually upgraded to 1 tb. With an apple laptop in 2016, 128 gigs is standard at entry level.

That's pretty embarrassing.

It's pretty obvious there is a lot more excitement over phones these days than laptops. I like my iphone a lot, but I don't like it that much. If anything, it's incredibly addictive and counter productive. I can't really use it for productivity that much: it's more of a social networking tool, which is fine in and of itself, but I often find it a time sink and constant distraction. So much so, that I don't want to upgrade to a larger screen; which would certainly make it even more tempting and distracting as an entertainment device.

I swear, if apple had not invented these things, we could've pooled our time wasted on bejeweled blitz and solved world hunger by now.

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Look at all the things that were possible with previous MacBooks that never materialised. Also, Apple makes a lot of money from people buying more expensive models or choosing expensive upgrades. Do you honestly think Apple will kiss that revenue goodbye by opening Macs up to officially support the use of external graphics cards?

Forget what is technically possible. Apple's decision making is based only on what gives them the maximum financial return on each item they sell.

One thing you will NEVER accuse apple of is overspecing their computers.

^ Exactly. People are really exaggerating what this next upgrade will bring. And the excuses about "WELL, it has been too LONG! It must be in late 2015... January at CES... March are just silly. Apple hasn't updated the Mac Pro is years. It's not unimaginable that they're going to be released later. Remember how people also SWORE on here that Apple would kill the 16 GB storage size for the 6S since "it's been too long that we've had the 16GB"

Lets just agree to disagree. See you in March :).

I'll be sure to check in. :)

Remember how people also SWORE on here that Apple would do something completely unrelated to this topic since "any argument is an argument and we don't care about facts"

True, I realized this when they didn't put any usb-c ports on the new iMac even though they could have.

I decided Im going to get rMBP now because just the fact that theres NO RUMORS coming from this and 9to5mac website. Other websites write articles just for the clicks. Im now predicting june release which is so late for me.
Everytime I come here its useless "the new blah blah expensive iphone hipster accessory is actually good blah blah blah" instead of any actual computer rumors.

We couldve at least heard a tiny info from somebody or that famous chinese analysis guy. **** it.

Apple are under no real pressure to update rMpb because most who are waiting, rightly or wrongly, are loathe to switch to Windows..despite some interesting products now emerging.

The other factor being, I'd guess, is that most have brand loyalty because of their previous good experience with Apple computers...that's why I'm hanging on anyhow!

I've not seen any of the current product discounted enough here in the UK for me to take the plunge either... :(

the iphone 7 leaks a lot because is massive manufactured in China, while the macbook is a lot less, and lets not talk about the Mac pro that is only in the USA
Can amd polaris be in the 15" MBP ?

I think what's getting me about skylake, is I don't care for games..so the graphics argument is moot.

9-10 hours of battery is already quite enough, and an extra hour likely isn't going to be the difference that allows me to keep the charger at home.

I'm also really not going to upgrade all my peripherals just because a new port is available.

So, after this - I'm scratching my head at skylake.

I'm a very casual gamer myself (5-10 hours of dota 2 per week), currently I'm doing some light video editing and I need a lot of RAM to run my medical files all at once. So I could really just settle for the 2015 15' mpb without any issue (currently struggling with a 2011 15' 8Gb RAM).

The thing is though, I'm also looking out for resale and future-proof value. If I'd like to sell it in 2-3 years, I'll be able to ask a lot more for a device with NVMe/TB3/Skylake/etc.. that may or may not have a new color scheme (yes aesthetics matter in sales also). If I want to keep it for 5-6 years to come, I want my device to be able to support the new hardware and I want the speeds to be up to par.

With that in mind, I'm perfectly happy just waiting for the refresh.

Let's please keep this thread for actual rumors and stop with the release date guessing, every time I click on this thread I have high hopes of seeing something substantial and nearly every time it's a guy saying 'naaah bro it's gonna be march cuz this and that' promptly followed by a similar reply for June.

Us wanting a date doesn't change when Apple is going to release it so pretty please stop with the endless debates about the release date without any substantial rumors to back it up.

Thanks for writing this, you're so right.
Please everyone stop writing "iz gonna be march! No iz june! I feel like iz gonna be octobah!"...
The lack of rumors about MBP is already really exhausting, reading a lot of completely different yet possible theories is getting me so confused.

So intel announced the cpu with HD580? or do we even know if it will exist ?
It has not been officially announced. The Skull Canyon NUC has been publicized at CES by Intel, and its Q1 2016 release schedule serves as a proxy for the presumed release date of an Iris Pro 580 based Skylake , since Intel (according to Arstechnica) claims it will have a 45W Skylake with Iris Pro 580, the same chip that would go into the 15" MBP.

Don't know much about USB C thunderbolt so I was wondering since it should support upto 100W of power, will we be able to just use a regular thunderbolt usb c cable to power a 15 inch mbp without any power bricks/adapters? What about using cigarette lighter sockets in cars like we use to charge our phones?

I am really hoping for a refresh next month. I bought a Dell XPS 15 ($1,8xx) which I am going to return.

I still have my early 2011 MBP which I will keep until the next rMBP and I can save some more money.

Where are rMBPs made?????? I thought foxcon made them too so it should still be a big manufacture enough for a leak.
