Where are rMBPs made?????? I thought foxcon made them too so it should still be a big manufacture enough for a leak.

It was a leak about new "thinner" macbook air 13 and 15 for June 2015. If that's based on what someone saw in a production workplace, or a chassis or something without label...

Then I think that was about the new rMBP models.

That's the only thing close to leak we've got.

Thanks for writing this, you're so right.
Please everyone stop writing "iz gonna be march! No iz june! I feel like iz gonna be octobah!"...
The lack of rumors about MBP is already really exhausting, reading a lot of completely different yet possible theories is getting me so confused.
o_O

Well if we kept this thread to "actual rumors" about skylake, the entire thread should be empty as you yourself admitted to lack of rumors about MBP with skylake. ;)

Sure, but I got in here around 80 pages I think, and since then the only discussion has been dates back and forth with no real substance. And the occasional "should I buy or wait" that pops up every other page. Gets kind of tiring.

Well, I guess that REAL rumors would be featured on this very website homepage.
If you don't want to participate in the crazy guessing, just stick to the homepage and don't read this thread, which by the way is the "waiting for skylake" thread, not the "skylake real legit rumors" thread.

We're all tired of waiting. Some of us just cope with this first world problem by making guesses and chatting in a (mostly) friendly manner.
Don't like, don't read.

well, rumors are usually about some new parts (like larger body, new logic board and cables and so on, screen, ports).
If there will be macbook update in march - then its too late for leaks (like redesign...)
If in mid-2016 - then its about time to start leaking.

Or maybe they kept it in secret just like Microsoft did with the Surface Book.

I certainly remember the leaks about the unibody (non-retina) MBP. There was an odd hole on the side of the unit, which many speculated might be some sort of 'docking' port. It turned out to be the battery level indicator lights ;D

Theres no way apple would cover up the leaks because a redesign is a big deal.

At first I was very hopeful for march. But since theres no legit rumor this website provided us, Im definitely saying june.

Im going to get my 15" rmbp. And if there is a rumor for spring release popping up during the 14 day return policy, Im going to return it.

I only want the skylake for resale value. I have no interest in gamer stuff.

Its too late for good leaks in my opinion.

Think it's very unlikely we will see anything in march as there's been no substantial leak like you say. Perhaps if they have prototypes to show at a march event and that it will be released towards summer, but that seems unlikely too.

Third very unlikely scenario is that they producing the new machines in a factory in the US where they can control leaks much better, a tight supply chain and logistics that keep it all under wraps. But yeah, something would've popped up by now for sure.

Yeah theres NO way apple couldve kept it secret. Even the famous Chinese analyst couldve said SOMETHING. Maybe he specializes in phones only.....??

Apple would never preview a prototype.

Here's to hoping Mark Gurman comes up with something asap haha.

The first retinas were never leaked, so you never know.

I am really hoping for a refresh next month. I bought a Dell XPS 15 ($1,8xx) which I am going to return.

I still have my early 2011 MBP which I will keep until the next rMBP and I can save some more money.

I got the new XPS 15 as well. Very nice machine, but I too will be returning it. Windows 10 is really holding it back. I'm waiting for new rMBP 15"

Interesting post, BJNY.

First, I suspect that Apple will refresh its MacBook Air/MacBook Pro lines at the rumored March event with quite fast and attractive Skylake-based devices, so there will be plenty of new, intriguing stuff for potential Mac customers to get their hands on.

This guy better watch out, these types of statements, especially March predictions, get people rilled up and pissed off around here LoLoL. Doesn't he know we need "confirmed rumors"?

I'm a very casual gamer myself (5-10 hours of dota 2 per week), currently I'm doing some light video editing and I need a lot of RAM to run my medical files all at once. So I could really just settle for the 2015 15' mpb without any issue (currently struggling with a 2011 15' 8Gb RAM).

The thing is though, I'm also looking out for resale and future-proof value. If I'd like to sell it in 2-3 years, I'll be able to ask a lot more for a device with NVMe/TB3/Skylake/etc.. that may or may not have a new color scheme (yes aesthetics matter in sales also). If I want to keep it for 5-6 years to come, I want my device to be able to support the new hardware and I want the speeds to be up to par.

With that in mind, I'm perfectly happy just waiting for the refresh.

2011 supports 16GB RAM...

Not true. The first unveiling of the iPhone was a very dysfunctional version that barely worked. Have a read over at New York Times:

http://mobile.nytimes.com/2013/10/06/magazine/and-then-steve-said-let-there-be-an-iphone.html

I would think that this probably is true for many of the products not released for immediate sale after the event it was presented at. Both HW and SW kinks to work out probably..
I meant at a Keynote.

I guess you didn't see the Quicktake keynote.
Nope, please enlighten me. Also, Steve wasn't at Apple then so who knows what they did haha.
