What config is everyone getting? Still undecided between a top spec (i7/512/16gb) 13 inch or a mid level 15 inch (i7/512/16gb/dGPU) 15 inch owners, how do you find portability and noise levels? (with a dgpu)
im thinking there may be a 32GB ram option as well... we'll see
15" - mid level i7 (if the difference is only .3 GHZ), 16GB, top GPU, 512 SSD

My old 2011 was really loud, but the new ones are pretty quiet

Don't really know until they're announced... You'll probably need a few USB-C / A adapters (Cheap on eBay and stuff) to tide you over, then likely you'll be buying USB-C stuff in the future so won't be an issue. For the SD reader you'll possibly need an adapter too, again depending on what's released.

The beauty of USB-C is the power and adaptability of it though, so your best best is just to grab a hub with all those features built in. Much nicer than having dongles and wires hanging out everywhere!

so i would need something like this....

https://www.amazon.com/Satechi®-Type-c-USB-3-0-Hub/dp/B015YRD8PC

?

I started reading this thread at page ~ 100, and I remember making a bookmark to it where I changed the URL to 'page-300' -- thinking it HAD to be released before we get to 300 PAGES... wow was I wrong.

I'm now off to my 'all day' meeting... I wish I could be watching the live stream along with you all, but c'est la vie.

I'll be happily back in my hotel room at 9pm tonight (13 hours from now) to watch and absorb all the new tech, and hopefully be so compelled to press 'order'...

Enjoy the show!!!!!!

PS Kudos to the MODS for agreeing to keep the thread open for a few days after the event so we can all celebrate together with our fellow warriors...

I'll be going with the 15 inch and probably max it all that I can. Even if I don't see use for all the power or space now, who knows what I'll want to do in the future. And it isn't like I won't be keeping it for awhile. Plus one thing coming from a Windows world that I appreciate is the resale value on these. I have a Surface Pro 3 I'm selling once I get this, I won't get much $ for it.

Not sure what phones you guys have but if you have an iPhone, why not just use the Apple Store App to buy your new MBP
The app doesnt support education discount. So that isnt an option. I could order via the web store, if I wasnt on a formal visit. There are a few situations in life you shouldnt take out your phone to do personal stuff, and I'm in such situation during the Keynote... :(

All aboard the train!

Hey, would you guys mind giving this thread a 12/24 hour warning before closing it? It would be a shame for people to have been here a long time to suddenly find it closed unexpectedly. A good day to get out stuff in order before we get evicted would be appreciated.

DO NOT use cheap USB-C adapters off eBay (!!!), given how powerful and versatile the port is, a bad cable can FRY your laptop, pay the extra buck and go with Anker, Belkin or Amazon Basics and you'll save $2000 for a replacement laptop.
