Hey UK peeps, I feel for you, but the fact of the matter is your currency isn't worth as much anymore. Don't get mad at Apple. Get upset with what your own people choose.
I'd be fine with a fairer Brexit increase of about 20-30% but this model costs almost twice as much as a 2015 Macbook Pro I bought and returned and last week... so you can understand why some of us are so shocked.

I expected an increase, but almost double? I'm seriously reconsidering alternatives now. I never thought I'd have to rethink my whole future with Apple.

They have their first real innovation in years and decide that's earned them a 90% price increase?

Just ordered the base model 13" without the OLED touch bar. No configuration. $1500ish with student discount. I was really looking forward to using the Touch Bar but it wasn't worth spending $200-300 for it.

Let's face it I'm just your typical university student that'll probably use the machine for Web browsing and Netflix...I'm actually more worried about shipping because I live in a college slum town with heavy population density and they tend to screw up shipping a lot...maybe I should've waited to see if they have it in store this weekend instead of having to wait until Monday for it to arrive.

Also quick question it had two option for delivery, one was next day shipping before noon and one just next day shipping.. Anyone with experience know if it actually ships before noon if you choose that option?

Well...off to my part time job interview at 2... LOL

on the mbp page:
"Play a graphics-intensive game like Tomb Raider on the 13-inch MacBook Pro with up to two times faster performance than the previous generation."

Nice :) looks like they are at least acknowledging gaming now

Well I would have liked to upgraded today from my 15" 2012 MBPr, however I certainly can't justify at these prices when my MBPr is running perfectly fine.

Hopefully in a few more years when this thing is on its last legs the prices may have come down slightly..

So... If I get a 13" I can afford a maxed out one. You guys think I'm gonna be super disappointed if I get that over a 15" like is there that much of a difference?

Thanks guys. Is the case even if we go into an Apple store?

These insane prices, with decreased student discount amount, AND THE FACT THEY NOW CHARGE FOR APPLECARE?

They have removed the free 3 year warranty for Students?

Don't think I've had such a negative Apple experience in one day for a long time!

with 30 minutes of play time at most until the thermal throttling kicks in

looks like i could have not went to windows anyway that would have cost me closer to $3,000

I still made it under $2,000 thanks to apple store gift cards.

there's a post at mac rumours few months ago about this

reduced discount rate for students, no more complimentary apple care

Yup, you now have to pay around £90/£100 for it.

I think many are forgetting this, assuming they have the 3 year warranty, when in fact it's only 1!

Guys I have a question:

I need 512gb of RAM. If I choose the base 15" and upgrade to 512gb comes at 2529 but the other 15" comes at 2,699 so does it compensate to pay another 150 for the upgraded CPU and GPU? I don't think so... what do you guys thing?

Please can someone help me here?

Maxing out a 13" doesn't make that much sense.
You are spending hundreds of dollars for increasing clock speed by a few MHz and a few hundred dollars for doubling RAM, rest is just storage.

15" on the other hand will give you quad core CPU and dedicated GPU, performance wise that's a whole new level.

its not like you'd play a game like that on the go. just keep her plugged in. and the new fans seem pretty awesome so they should keep up.

the highest spec should be using DDR4 no?

if that's the case I feel sorry for everyone who ordered this POS. Guys if you want to pay upwards of more than 2 grand for a laptop at least make sure it got the latest tech. Not to say DDR4 is very new but this is Apple.....

The top spec 15 in, at its current price, doesn't really match up too well to the 2016 Razer Blade Pro from a pure power perspective. The big X factors are macOS, and Apple's legendary build quality and support.

DDR3 RAM and a severely underpowered GPU are tough pills to swallow in comparison. From what I can tell a Radeon 460 is roughly equivalent to a Geforce 965M. That is really really bad for a late 2016 $3k notebook.
