After all this time this is the best they can come up with? They had the chance to give us a superb machine but they blew it. Mr Cook you should do the decent thing and resign.

edit: fihhghing 2799 for 8gigs of ram!!!

Please can someone help me here?
I dont think anyone can help you here, especially when you do not even know the difference between SSD and RAM.

As I have said previously. 2.6 GHz CPU, Radeon Pro 460, 512 GB SSD, 16 GB of RAM. Thats the config I would buy. There will be no difference between the CPUs.

Order placed! It's my first ever Mac of any kind and I maxed it out - 4gb 460 card, 2tb SSD, max CPU. Came to £3000 with it being vat free and a student discount. I don't envy other UK customers who've paid more :(

I also want to put my order in stone here before the mods close this thread too early. I have to state though that after a super-exciting Mac Keynote presentation, I was so excited. I LOVE what I saw, but then I received the biggest let-down ever when I placed my order and that is the inability to put 32 GB of RAM into their top-spec machine. Why oh why Apple do you produce such a forward-thinking laptop with not enough RAM to handle my needs today...let alone 2 years from now. Why Apple?

I went ahead and clicked the buy button and will have a week or two to decide if I want to cancel it due to lack of RAM. This RAM issue really has rained on the whole experience for me.

Here's what I got:
2.9 GHz i7
16 GB RAM (weak sauce)
1 TB SSD
Radeon Pro 460 w/ 4 GB memory
Apple Care

I think I'm going to have a few beers tonight.

Do we have any information on the Radeon Pro 450/455/460 GPUs, it seems like they don't really exist, and are likely custom made parts for apple. Any thoughts?

I got
  • 1TB PCIe-based SSD
  • 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
  • Backlit Keyboard (Arabic) & User’s Guide (Arabic)
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports

I am not happy about 16gb ram, thinking about canceling it later, I will think about for a while.

Have to say good luck to anyone buying one of these and I hope you enjoy them, its your money and you can spend it how you choose. But Jesus, the amount of posts I have read on here from folks who are at the same time moaning about the specs etc yet are still buying one. If this is the case then why the hell are you still willing to pay insane amounts of money to Apple for something you are not happy about. It really does make me laugh.

My god this isn't a £700 iPhone we are talking upwards of £1700 for the base 13" touch model and £2300 for the 15", just huge sums of money and not exactly throw away cash.

Lol so what did I say ? Outdated and overpriced hardware, with a bit of true innovation (like they do every now and then) with the magic bar & the 4 TB3/USB-C ports, which will be copied by all PC in 6 months.

Usual Apple, in short.

Anyway, as a side note, any point having 5K display over 4K?

PS : lol at the 8GB ram
PPS: To confirm whoever didn't believe me/us, yes "this will be our last Apple machine"

The top spec 15 in, at its current price, doesn't really match up too well to the 2016 Razer Blade Pro from a pure power perspective. The big X factors are macOS, and Apple's legendary build quality and support.

DDR3 RAM and a severely underpowered GPU are tough pills to swallow in comparison. From what I can tell a Radeon 460 is roughly equivalent to a Geforce 965M. That is really really bad for a late 2016 $3k notebook.
macOS and support... yes probably still a factor

build quality? Many OEMs had stepped up their game. Look at the Surface Book, and the latest Dell XPS

Oh my ... the prices are killing me.
No 32GB RAM - what a shame. Oh wait, wouldn't afford it anyhow if the price increase would be scaled like the other upgrades...

I look at my mid 2010 8GB 13" MBP with 500GB HDD, USB 2.0 and SD-Card Reader. Seems like we will not getting divorced soon ... hopefully it will not break prior 32GB and 1TB SSD are reasonably priced.

On a second thought... Hermes iWatches are a bargain compared to this.

To UK peeps, I have a 15" rMBP base model that I bought last week. Initially I was going to return it to Apple after using it in between for coursework but having seen the price increase, if anyone wants to buy it off me for the original price (£1599) I'd be happy to sell it to you instead of returning to Apple.

To mods, sorry for posting here just wanted to put out a notice.

If only apple could be more consistent and honest about their magical moment talks:

"I'm proud to announce our new macbook pro's have the highest starting price ever. No other macbook pro ever had such a high price, it's amazing. Look how high the prices go for these small upgrades, it's absolutely wonderful. Up to 150% more expensive than previous macbook pro's. No other laptops even come close to this amount of money. Truly magical." Insider crowd claps furiously.

Was a typo, c'mon don't break my balls...

How come you don't pay VAT?

Officially pulled the trigger.

Went with the higher 15" with the better graphics card and 1TB SSD. Financed it so I didn't have to empty out my bank account, haha.
