Really I am hoping for a redesign, not one that will take away battery life or usb ports though.

If they take any ports away, to me, this is the end of the Pro. Ive's obsessions with thiness is getting to be over the top. I will then probably buy a 15" rMBP top of the line and I will be done with Apple.

More and more, Cook is not in control and is only counting the beans..sad for what Steve has built, despite the slips he had.

One of the articles alluded to the new HP Workstation ZBook using the P580 to be released in "1H16" which should be any day now. These materials have been out since NOVEMBER! Ugh, right under our nose the whole time. I never even considered the Xeon chip, I've been looking for the i7s. Anyway, that box is set to drop soon so once we see those units move others should fall into place.

We all know if there is a redesign Ive is going to take whatever ports it takes to make it as thin as possible. I'm assuming the worst - 2 USB-C Ports and maybe an SD Card slot. Thinner, 7 hours of battery life, and throttles.

In my opinion, the rMBP doesn't need a redesign; it just needs a decent internal update.

they can change now the usb to usb-c(since its thunderbolt 3 compatible), remove the sd card and battery can't be under 8h with skylake. so good for me and many others

The SD card slot should stay, and maybe replace one of the USB ports for a USB Type C (includes TB3).

:) 1st half 2016 means(in business) that the release will be in May/June :)

Lack of rumors either means there will be no redesign (why leak something that looks the same) or Apple's board work extra as security at Foxconn keeping everybody in check. I think it's the latter.

Right because Steve Jobs never took things away... Like floppy drives and CD-ROM drives.

I really hope that the new MBP's will be released during the rumoured March event.

The fact that the longest time between two MBP releases was 317 days (according to the Macrumors buying guide) is promising. Because if Apple waits until June for an update then that would mean that there is a period of more than 390 days between the two releases.

But that is no yardstick to predict or ensure that Apple will follow their past trend, they can jolly well break the trend and set a new trend. Apple is notorious to be different from the masses and from their own previous trends !!

Yeah, but Apple wants money. They make extra money with product upgrades. They think different all they want, they need the money for quarterly reports.

390 days without a Macbook Pro update, when Macbooks are their largest MAC market, and the MAC is still growing in a down computer world, seems like its not at all practical to me.

But if the iPhone sales are going to decline this year, as predicted, a rMBPro release in March is likely than June. Apple has to sell something to get their shareholders happy and I doubt that apple watch sales are going through the roof.

Okay MBP prices on ebay are on their lowest since forever and I'm getting ready to pull the trigger.
I do really need some leaks/new informations from apple so that I can keep on holding on.

What are the chances for a spontaneous Event just for an updated Apple Cinema 4k Display with Thunderbolt 3 as well as MBP revamp?

Very unlikely. We should hope for the March event to take place. During that event there could be some stage time for the complete MacBook family with hopefully a redesigned MBP.
