I'm now concluding that my favourite MBP to buy would be a 14" model with no dGPU, slimmer, lighter and longer-charged than my current 15", paired with one of Quasselstripper's TBD with eGPU. This would give me easier portability together with awesome gaming performance at home.

I'm overwhelmingly confident that Apple will not be offering me this combination, of course, but it's what I'd like.

The non retina 13 mbp is not in stock in Sweden, shipment in 8 business days. Just a coincident or is this the last we see of it?

Wow thanks for the data!!
Could you possibly test the following: Heroes of the Storm, Black Desert Online, civilization beyond Earth, battlefield 4?

Thanks in advance!!
Iris 550 (Vaio Z Flip):

Heroes of the Storm - (1920x1080)
High Settings 30-45fps
Medium 60-80fps lowest I saw was 50 something

Battlefield 4 -
(1920x1080) - Low Settings: 35-50fps
(1280x720) - Low Settings : 70-90fps, always above 60
(1280x720) - Medium Settings: 50-70fps

Civilization: Beyond Earth (1920x1080)
High Settings 30-35fps
Medium settings 35-50fps

I honestly expected better results across the board. Perhaps new drivers and game updates will optimize more.

Those numbers are ridiculously high for iGPU.

And that is only HD 550...

Yeah I've noticed people underestimating the skylake iGPUs on these forums.
The HD 540 was comparable to the 940Mish thing in Surface Books in several benchmarks/games. The 580 iris pro will knock some socks off while conserving a crud ton of battery. I'm excited.

I am only praising the performance of it. Not surprised at all ;).

Intel does great job in mobile space currently.

10-15% lower scores than... R9 M370X ;).

How are you testing all these games? Happen to have Street Fighter 5?
What do you mean how? I don't have that game sorry, unless there is demo version.

I honestly expected even higher results.

I have been testing the iGPUs from haswell - broadwell - skylake, of the Core M, 15w, and 28W tiers. and occasionally the pro versions too.

Do those units have TB3?
Nope.

Most people underestimate the improvements intel has made to iGPUs over the past few generations, the iGPU improvements are very exciting to me.

Even the 15W Intel 520/520 and the Core M 515 graphics perform surprisingly well.

and yea when the surface book came out, I thought for sure it would have far better graphics than the MBP because of the discrete chip. But in my tests the discrete chip in the surface book is about on par with Iris 550

Here in Spain too! And thunderbolt display...

A keynote with iphone se, ipad pro 9'7", apple watch bands, laptops, 5k display... Too much for one keynote

I think the iGPU from Intel would perform better if... the computer would sport 2133 MHz DDR4 instead of 1866 MHz RAM. It really has huge impact on performance of iGPUs.

So soon for the 21 march?
I thouth thry are out with one week earlier

They used to be a week earlier, but lately they have been 2 weeks earlier I think.

Source?
I believe you, just want to see for myself.

Fortunately, I'm only looking to play Blizzard games, so the iGPU should be fine for my purposes. I have an Xbox One for the more demanding titles!

They don't point out to anything substantial in the articles. The journalists wrap up what has been passed around forums and the like for the past months. Pure speculation, but a good sign that technews are starting to look for evidence.

I just need FIFA and Rocket League for travels on my rMBP.

So who is betting that they'll send out invitations tomorrow for the 21st?

Actually, I've been wondering why people keep saying it will be the 21st. When was the last time an announcement was on a Monday? The old rumor said 15th, which was a Tuesday, just like all the other announcements. So I'll bet the invites go out on Wednesday this week, for the 22nd.

Sounds like a nice machine. I'm disappointed in Apple, Vaio had these 28W Skylakes first and they weren't too uppity to let people know and order it ahead of time. Glad to see they're carrying Sony's torch for the Vaio Z. I remember seeing one of those puppies back in 2009-2010. Man oh man, so tiny yet, so many lights and buttons, so sleek and cool.
